Hey guys, I'm obviously a pred fan and watching your game (I have fantasy picks invested :) ) ..anyways..as most of you, i was pretty shocked to see their backup do what he did. From someone not invested in either team, I would definately say it was an ordered hit for the backup to do all that bs.

I had that exact thought as I watched them escort McClennan off the ice. The way he got pats from Kipper, and nods from teammates. That looked to me like it was orchestrated...

Not saying that it was necessarily, but that's what it looked like to me...

He knows that he had to do what none of the Flames had the balls to do all game. I am actually glad he did it.

Really?

I thought it was great. The Flames were making a point: "DON'T RUN THE GOALIE OR ELSE!!!!!"

That was the reason, the one and only.

I think he was trying to motivate the team and send a message about how much Kiprusoff has been run by the Wings. Embarrassing act though especially for a guy who was playing his last seconds in the NHL. Franzen's dive was pretty pathetic though. It was well in line with what the Wings have done the whole series.

I would. Seriously, that's what makes us a better organization, regardless of the outcome of the series.

Goonery like what Calgary did today, or like you're suggesting there, has no place in hockey.

All I can say is: Payback's a *****. If the Wings are as furious as I am after this win, they should out for blood tomorrow.

Maybe the Flames are hoping that our boys will be so pissed, they'll take a bunch of stupid penalties tomorrow.

I'm hoping that our boys will be so pissed...they'll end the series.

THEY THINK FRANZEN DOVE!!!????!?!?!?!?!????!?!?!??

My wife, Calgary Fan, says, "The Flames would not have to resort to such measures if they knew how to play like men and not little boys their first time on the ice." "Not Kipper" "Kipper Rocks"

Please remember the last two quotes are from my wife and not from me............. :)

Agreed. "If you can't win, go out there and hurt somebody" seems to be their mantra in this series thus far. I can't wait to hear what Babcock has to say in the post-game, and I'm hopeful the NHL will do something about it, as well as the other cheap shots. Even if they don't, I think Calgary shot themselves in the foot giving the Wings even more reason to want to put them away.

This must be my first post here in at least a year. Anyway, it was wonderful to see the Wings win this one. CBC was so stupid in the first period, assuming Hasek wasn't "on his game" and they had that gut instinct the Flames would win it (haha!). But I guess that's just the bias a Canadian station is supposed to have. The Flames were absolutely disgusting. Especially MacLellan, a BACKUP goalie assuming he can waltz right in and hack away. It was so immature when the Wings were obviously going to win, that Iginla and others assumed they could do whatever they pleased. At least one suspension should be in order. CBC, with that Calgary bias still there a bit even at the end of the game, chalked up Calgary's immaturity/violence to it "being a message to the Wings for the next game." BS, there's no good excuse. Otherwise, the Wings themselves played as solid of a game as they could and did alright with not retaliating, like Draper at the end.

i would not be suprised in the least if the score tomorrow was the same, the wings are going to absolutely livid after what happened today. theres no way they are going to lose tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I see more of this cheap shot BS from the Flames tomorrow night, and they figure their fans will all love it and cheer for it. Calgary certainly made Nashville look like angels, and that is just absolutely pathetic. I hope the Wings take their sorry asses out of the playoffs tomorrow night, hopefully with none of them being injured in the process.

The Mclellan slash was obviously done on orders from the coaches. If you make a goalie change you do it after the fifth goal, not some random point a few minutes after the goal was scored. I used to have some healthy respect for the Flames but no more. They are nothing more than a group of ******* worthless dirtbags. Iginla really disappointed me, I thought he was a good hard nosed player but he is a piece of s***. I have not been this pissed off after a win in ever. I hope Wings are able to get the next game so they don't have to play these hatchet dirtf***s any more.

They showed the Slapshot clip on NBC and that is exactly what the Flames played like. f*** them and their worthless style of "hockey".

BTW, what's the word on Lebda. Is he OK?

My Wife, again - a Calgary fan, agreed with everything I just read her off your post. She said, "I had visions of flying to Detroit and Kicking Playfair's butt. Then saying 'You can't hit me, I'm pregnant HAHA' ".

:)

She is saying things alot better than I can.

I wasn't watching the game too closely, but was Kipper knocked off his feet at all this game? When was Kipper ran?

The one time they seem to THINK that Kipper got run was when Maltby got plowed into him by Stuart (?). That was when the first goal was waived off because of a BS goaltender interference penalty.

This typifies Flames Fans for me right now. This is from CalgaryPuck.com:

I am so glad he did that I have no idea what some of you are talking about. I only wish he would have broken Franzen's arm, at least maybe that would've detered some of the other Red Wings from running Kipper because whatever the rest of the team was doing (nothing) sure as hell wasn't working. You're up 5-1 late in the third and you are STILL putting guys near Kipper and bumping into him what do you expect is going to happen?? Too bad it took our backup goalie to step up, some of our 4th liners should take a page out of McLennan's book and take someone's arm off the next time they go near Kipper or else run the hell out of Hasek. Something, anything!

Well done McLennan.

That is horrible. :angry::angry::angry:

Watching him hack just moments before that swing I have "NO" doubts. The coach needs to feel some heat from this for sure. On a lighter note am I the only one mildly excited something happened that helps stoke a little passion for hockey at the Joe??? All the GOONery aside, it was a very exciting 3'rd.
