HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 And not to forget Flip who got us off to a great start in the series and worked hard on the PK each game. Yep, definitely Flip as well. That's the thing..I feel bad leaving any Wing out because they all really played well..and everyone stepped up at different/crucial times when they needed to. high_stick69 7 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 A couple of QFT's right there! Hell yeah Cleary and Franzen were huge by being the support that means the difference in the series, but in reality Lidstrom and Hasek were the BEST players in the series. The LIDSTROM and CHELIOS led defense did limit the number of shots on HASEK, but he made every save he should have and has played very well. I like the picks of Franzen and Cleary, but if the series were deciding the Conn Smythe, it would've been LIDSTROM or HASEK
akustyk 84 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 (edited) I agree with Cleary call, but Schneider and Nick are really close here. and Datsyuk + Zetterberg + Homer deserve a lot of credit here for generating gazillion scoring opportunities despite being shadowed by their best D-men. I'd also like to point to Pain Train. he played like a legit top 4 defenseman, logging a lot of minuts (including special teams) and making some really smart plays and moves, while maintaing his cool against lousy (at best) zebras. this guy deserves a lot of credit for this. he's been the biggest improvement for our team in this playoffs. way to go, Pain Train! EDIT: yeah, and granpa Chris is also here. not even mentioning his SH goal, but his effort is definitely worth noting. he's been our D-ass for most of the series, taking a word or two with their goons while staying out of the box and being tough on them on the ice. nice job EDIT2: now to the Flames... for his play Kipper definitely steals the MVP here. I hate his whining and the s*** he's been doing to Homer or Franzenstein only to then cry like a baby about their work... but he's held this series 6 games. but among other Flames I'd give my vice-MVP to Rhett Warrener. he's been one of few Flames D-men who played clean and efficient, while not joining the bad-ass attitude other morons on his team showed. Lombardi and Giordano are also on this list, and despite his crap on Lebda, Langkow has been a factor for them and a significant presence. DetroitNativePride 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 In the series, the MVP was Kipper. For the Wings, I'm glad we don't have one positive MVP. The team played well, that's enough. My props go to Franzen, although I wouldn't call him the MVP.
Hack&Lube 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 I said months ago that Cleary was Detroit's best player against the Flames and this confirms it (i can't find the post, it might have been on Detroit's board on HF). Cleary has always been the best Detroit player against the Flames and I'd say he was your MVP.

norrisnick 1 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 Kipper was godly, but for the Wings we'd have been good and rightly f***ed without Lidstrom. It's great that we had almost everyone show up and contribute and a couple guys playing the best they ever have, but we still have to remember how unbelievably important Lidstrom is to this team. He leads on defense. He leads on offense. He leads in ice time, regardless of the situation. Etc... Plainly put he leads. And good on everyone else for following! Oh and scoring two GWGs and assisting on the other two doesn't hurt either.

Guest LivingtheDream Report post Posted April 23, 2007 Claery is a hero, but game after game he was not our MVP. That belongs to Lidstrom who completely shut down Ignalia while simultaneously leading our team in points. If Lids hadn't done that (shut down Iggy), we would be in a whole different place right now. Its the things you don't see that make Lids the greatest player around.
UKWING 8 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 lidstrom for me. wasn't at his best in games 3 and 4 but was near flawless the rest of the time defensively, whilst he led the team in points and scored 2 GWGs. honorable mention to cleary, franzen, lilja, hasek and shneider. Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 Anyone see the post-game interview with Lang? He said that travel is hard especially on older guys like Cheli who is 50 years old. HA :lol The Wings were great, so I have 3 categories for top 3. Defensive 1. Lidstrom 2. Chelios 3. Lilja Offensive 1. Cleary 2. Datsyuk 3. Franzen Overall 1. Cleary 2. Lidstrom 3. Hasek
