Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 please SOMEONE give props to Filpulla for taking on two big Sharks, getitng the puck from them twice along the boards, grinding it out with guys bigger than him, skating close enough to almost be hit by a third as he crossed the blue line, and then making a beautiful little pass to Lang....51 was TRUE GRIT on that play, i rewound it like 30 times.....watch 51 just before lang gets it. Valtteri Filppula made a good play at the blue line, springing Lang free. "Fil made an unbelievable play on the wall and they got caught pinching up on us," coach Mike Babcock said. "Then Langer made the shot." Good to see Babs giving him credit. Well done Flip!

Hank 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Flipper was amazing in that game. He was the grit giving traction to the magnificent Winged Wheel!! I'm really starting to like this kid as well. He doesn't mind getting his nose dirty and has some very good offensive potential. It's going to be fun watching him develop.

Roz 2 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 UNREAL. Just simply unbelievable. That game was such a roller coaster of emotion. What a play by Schneider. Simply incredible. To catch the puck, put it in front of him, adjust to it, and launch a ROCKET at the net, over a would be blocker, in one fluid, BEAUTIFUL motion, just incredible. The day after, and I'm STILL pumped. Sgt. Angry 23 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 I know how they feel! I don't know if the picture will be included in this quote, but whoever took the picture has a rare gem of a photo. It has the same qualities as Joe Rosenthal's photo of the Marines at Iwo Jima, or Dick Tripp's picture of the Lions defense swarming over Bart Starr on Thanksgiving day in 64 (or was it 62?). I really believe that these teams are both good enough that any talk about momentum is fruitless - it can change in an instant, and I don't believe that the Sharks will be that overwhelmed. I'm relieved that I no longer get overly "doomy and gloomy" during the games any more. I was cured of that last fall when the Yankees spanked the Tigers in the first playoff game. I wrote them off, they came back and won, and I vowed - NEVER AGAIN!!! These late games, I use the TV as a radio. I sack out on the couch, close my eyes, listen to the TV, and when the announcers start getting exited, I open my eyes and watch. GO WINGS!!!!

Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 That's such an awesome photo. I think that's Schneider bumping heads with Hank in the middle, and they've got someone else sandwiched in between. The view from another angle also provides some fun moments: Look at the big ol' bear hug Bert is giving Markov's rear, who in turn crushes puny Cleary with a monster elbow. ILWingsFan1 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Closing thoughts before bedtime: That puck over the glass penalty is still dumb as hell. We caught the good bounce this time (and I guess you could say San Jose had their chance, if you want), but you just never know. I'll be glad to see it gone. Finally, I like these quotes from Babcock. This: I mentioned this earlier, that it's not just Team A miraculously playing poorly mid game and Team B benefiting from the other's "lack of heart." These are two top-notch squads in a power struggle, each exerting their will on the other and making that other look bad at different points in each game. And this: Dominik Hasek is the man, and the Paralyzed Snow Angel of Defeat rules. He's been everything that was advertised: dominant goaltending, wild flops and dives, clutch saves, terrible puck-handling. Bellissimo.

Doesn't anyone have a pic of Joe Thornton's face after San Jose lost, even though they led the game for all but 34 seconds of regulation time?

UWO_Winger 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Wow.. how nice is it to see the Sharks making the mistakes that give us all heartburn? Soft lob up the middle on a clearing attempt.. my wife now knows to expect some rage when the Wings do that. Do we have a playoff song for this year yet? What about a song that incorporates all of our favourite slogans? - Lang is Lazy and He Sucks - Paralyzed Snow Angel of Defeat - What Does Sammy Bring to the Table? - etc.. Wings_Fan_In_Exile 3 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Man what a game. I've never been so quiet during the first 59 minutes of a game before. When they were down 0-2 I remember thinking "they've gotta come back but it might take a miracle". A few clutch goals later and I was able to go to sleep one happy man. Hopefully I didn't wake up my girlfriend's roomate, but I kinda doubt that is possible. Dominik Hasek is the man, and the Paralyzed Snow Angel of Defeat rules. He's been everything that was advertised: dominant goaltending, wild flops and dives, clutch saves, terrible puck-handling. Bellissimo. And I will happily admit Hasek played a solid game. Neither goal he could do much about in this one. Although it kinda looked like he ducked away from the second goal- but it was just a fluke play and he probably never saw the puck. What made me happy about his perfomance was that there was no paralysis when he used the snow angel, he spread out then got back into position. After his game last night the move should be known as the Snow Angel of Doom. I still don't love the guy, but last night he played just as all the Dom backers said he could. Anyway, what a game. What a win! 2-2 series I love it! Wings in 7 was my original prediction and they look to be on pace.
wingslogo19 281 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 WOW, do i love this team.. Hasek played well.. The plays that stood out to me were Hasek's huge save with a bout 7 minutes left The Langer tieing goal BOBBY The huge pk in the ot then our PP when Scheids keeps the puck in and lets a bullet go

betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Not smart of Wilson to call out his troops. I don't know what result that'll have on the locker room, but a public call-out like that in the middle of a tightly-played series like this one is VERY risky.
