Must Kill 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 Hasek is still playing in the playoffs, and playing briliantly. All of the Vezina candidates are all playing golf right now. I think that about says it all. Dom wants a bigger prize than another Vezina. He's not the problem here, I don't believe. I for one am encouraged that despite the efforts of refs and suspect plays by the Ducks, the Wings managed to find three goals. **faints** Maybe next game, they will all play 60 minutes and not just Dom, Lids and Zata. thats the point im trying to get across, hasek is a freaking machine this playoff run, dare i say better than the 02 run, and hasek is one of the main reasons why we are in the WCF. T-Ruff 47 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 ugh....sucks to see that 3rd Ducks goal count....I was shocked to hear Jim Hughson utter "They're calling it a goal" after both announcers were talking about the fact that it obviously will not count..... In my opinion, the fact that a player interferes with a goalie or not should be reviewable because as Kelly Hrudey said during the break, the refs are watching the net for the puck and not necessarily the players.... In any event.....the Wings lost in OT and should've possibly won in regulation and yet they have not brought their A-game so far in this series ....Without the pressure of home-ice the Wings should take at least one in Anahiem, and should continue to get better as the series progresses.... datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 i think, clearly, the better team won tonight. the refs had some questionable non-calls, but the ducks came to play. the wings need to settle down and play smart. they show patches of brilliance where they absolutely dominate the play and then the next shift they can't get it out of their zone for like 2 minutes straight. it's so stressful to watch. they need some serious lessons on clearing the ******* puck, if they can do that and not give the ducks chance after chance after chance after chance to set up scoring opportunities then i think we'll be fine. if not, we're not going to beat the ducks. Airborn 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 I know the game is over but... To me the point of a video review is to get the call right. What I don't understand is, why have a two part system? Some calls are reviewable, some are not. I say if you're going to use video review, in an effort to make the right call let them all be subject to review. The reason the refs missed the fact that Rob N. pushed the Dom in the net is because they were looking to see if the puck was over the line or not. The video, showing the goalie was pushed in should then have veto power. The human element is still there making the judgment, it's just a more informed call. The video review did it's job; they determined the puck went in, which it did. The problem was with Schcik. He never blew the whistle despite they fact that he either lost sight of the puck or could clearly see the puck in Dom's pads.
regwinguofmfan 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 That 3rd duck goal was crap, but what makes me madder is the turnovers by our defense. We had some really bad turnovers and one cost us the game. We have to fix this nowish. That and the bonehead clear the puck over the glass crap. Is there anything easier in the world for the refs to call?
Izzy24 44 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 I do not opine that Hasek was pushed into the net, I observed it and proclaim it as fact. Well said.

I actually thought we played much better. The Ducks clearly dominated the 1st, but we were better the 2nd and 3rd, and probably would have won, save the horrible 3rd goal, which should not have counted. The Ducks seemed to carry the OT, but overall I liked out game tonight.
redwingsgirl 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 you know we can even go back to the game winning goal for us in game one that was very bizare, good goal yes but s***ty looking, same for the goal hasek let in. hasek did all he could do and the ducks played smart and tried knocking it in and it worked. When it comes to playoff hockey you do anything you can for your team even if it means "bending" the rules. Lets face it guys if it was the other way around we be all on it and be riding on a high of 2 games lead on the ducks Nice post - I agree. You have to find a way - or even make a way - to win. No point in complaing about the refs. Heck, win or lose, we usually complain about one call or another (or lack of call). Time to come out strong in game 3 and get the W. Just the beginning of a long series. Go WIngs Go!!!!
Christopher Tequila 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 Airborn, That was my complaint! They can be so quick with the whistle when the puck is bouncing around in front of the net, but when no one knows exactly where the puck is there is no whistle! Hasek probably knew the puck hit him but didn't know where it was after that. If there never blow the whislte then there would be a lot more goals scored! The refs were absolutely terrible this game and last. Kinda reminds me of the last game of the edmonton series last year where edmonton scored the game winner off a high stick... Offsides 21 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 Well, I don't agree with how you feel about Hasek, but then again, I'm not a Ducks fan, and I do recognize that fans from other teams are going to see things differently. Sad thing is...he's not a Ducks fan either I don't think... it's hard to tell his affiliation by his posts though isn't it
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 lol I love how we all get so mad over a split *including myself of course* we have to realize the Wings can't win every game, but I guess some of the calls made today were absolutely pathetic. We dominated the second half of the game and should of won, that's why it freaking stings. btw, they REALLY need to get rid of the delay of game penalty. it has got to be the most pointless penalty ever. anyways, Wings will be fine, and I agree with whoever said the Sharks were harder to play. datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 you have to give the duck's fore-checking credit. the wings panic constantly because of it. the wings need to apply more pressure on the fore and back-checking. i thought san jose had an amazing forecheck, but the ducks are taking it to us. they are consistently sending two or three guys in and the wings haven't had the poise to burn them and make them pay, so it'll continue to happen. if the wings could settle down and make smart plays maybe we could cash in on some of the duck's aggression. Wings_Fan_In_Exile 3 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 Sonnuva.... I could just feel that OT goal coming. The Wings just couldn't get it outta their zone. A little bummed out after being up 3-2, but I now look forward to Tuesday.
Heroes of Hockeytown 694 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 What a bulls*** tying goal. Absolute bulls***. No whistle, no call for goalie interference. How infuriating. And now I'm putting it past me. They split, so we need to do the same.

He never blew the whistle despite they fact that he either lost sight of the puck or could clearly see the puck in Dom's pads. The ref might have seen it on his pads. But look at the Buffalo non-goal last night--the puck was clearly in the net but the video review "determined" it went in illegally off of this glove. How is this any different? seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 Well, very few things would be able to take my mind off this game, but I missed last Monday's 24, so i think it's time to watch Jack Bauer kill some bad guys. As much as this sucked, I think we'll get at least 1 in Anaheim. Just gotta put this one behind us and have faith in our boys.

They split, so we need to do the same. I'm with you. Wings can't fight this kind of bad call, no whistle nonsense, so they are just going to have to push harder and make the Ducks pay, legally and straight up. Otherwise, they will get penalized, unlike other teams. If the Wings hadn't had Hasek in there, they would have lost in regulation, most likely, so I guess it was good they managed to take it to OT. If the whistles are actually in use on Tuesday, Wings will do better.
datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 next game is pretty important. i just want to see the wings come out hard and match the ducks effort for sixty minutes. then we'll see what happens.
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 I forgot to mention something, I really thought Lang played his best game of the playoffs tonight. He was everywhere. Fantastic passing, great plays, kept pressuring, and even got a little physical. Atta boy Langer.

hiuDUCKSfan 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 I didn't get to watch the series against San Jose so I can't say if they were tougher than us but I do think these two teams match up well. Your top line scares me and your goalie frustrates the heck out of me. Looking forward to the rest of this series.
