stillwater 186 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 I'd take Owen Nolan over Bertuzzi for the short term.
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 Guerin had the same number of goals last season that Smyth did...it's not as if he'd be a bad pick up After Guerin's hoodini act in the playoffs...I dont want him anymore, ESPECIALLY not for that 4 mill you mentioned. North Guy 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 How the hell can Anaheim afford all this? I bet the contract was on the cheap end for someone of Bertuzzi's stature. In Bertuzzi's situation, money is not the main factor in deciding on which team to play for. Anaheim is the perfect place to play in if you are a hockey player looking for anonymity. No one knows who you are outside of the hockey rink. Just ask Chris Pronger.
norrisnick 1 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 Losing Nidermayer and Selanne helps. Yup. The Ducks with Niedermayer and Selanne are considerably better than the Ducks with Schneider and Bertuzzi. Rafalski is a decent step up over Schneider and since our 2nd line was crap when it counted anyway, pretty much anyone Kenny brings in (or up) will be an improvement. My only worry is Markov, and I guess Dom but he'll sign.
Wingfan191 2 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 Leafs just signed Zubrus, damn, I wanted him, and Nolan has been e3'd to the Flames.

Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 Selanne and Niedermayer for Bertuzzi and Schneider. Both significant downgrades. Oh well on Bertuzzi. He would've been a nice project but he's risky. Don't worry, theres still others out there. Downgrade yes, but considering all the young talent they have that will assuredly become even better next season i think it becomes a wash in the end. Heaton 1 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 Downgrade yes, but considering all the young talent they have that will assuredly become even better next season i think it becomes a wash in the end. There's no way of thinking that leads you to Schneider for Niedermayer ever becoming a wash. What young defensemen is going to fill his void? Schneider defenitely won't. Guest Agalloch Report post Posted July 2, 2007 Big deal. I've always wanted Bertuzzi on the team, and was really excited when we traded for him, but to be quite honest, he played like s***. 'Nucks fans said he's been awful ever since the Moore incident, even though he put up decent points. Slow, prone to take penalties, and no the force he once was. I still like him, but it's not a big deal.
Vancouver Wings Fan 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 Excellent! Let Anaheim soak up cap room on Bert. There are other guys out there to bring in, who likely would have a more pronounced impact on this version of the Wings. Remember, Bert was a non factor in the run to the Semi's.... and signing him for large dollars with a history of injuries and never winning anything IMHO made no sense. Mors 201 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 I know that Holland has a habit of pulling some move out of his ass and reinspiring confidence, but so far we've lost 4 players (5 when Markov rolls out), and made one lateral move defensively. I hope this doesn't all play out with paying Hasek some outrageous amount and signing Floppa or another finesse player...
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 There's no way of thinking that leads you to Schneider for Niedermayer ever becoming a wash. What young defensemen is going to fill his void? Schneider defenitely won't. Im talking about overall...I think the team will be as good as last years. Getzlaf will become a star imo, Penner and Perry will continue to improve, and also Ryan could be good if he joins. For defense, i dont think Beauchemin has really hit his peak yet either. Im just saying with those in-house improvements, it kinda offsets the downgrade of Schneider/Bertuzzi vs Niedermayer/Selanne.

Guest Agalloch Report post Posted July 2, 2007 Time for Holland to stop playing the oh-so-smart 'waiting game' with these free agents. Its obviously not going our way. I agree to an extent, but he better not go off and give a guy like Guerin (who would be awful) a ridiculous contract. That'd be very bad. Then again, the free agent list is getting skinnier and skinnier. Forsberg should sign with us for the league minimum, just so I could get my dream of watching he and Zetterberg play on the same line (olympics don't count). johnnyoski 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 Everyone is panicing like we just lost the heart of our team. Bert is not an enforcer, is a defensive liability while on the ice and was probably asking for WAY to much.
