LA Kings Offer Hasek 2 yr 10 mill. Deal?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

The first link is of someone out of Dearborn being informed that Lombardi. sent an offer of 2 years...9/10 million. The second link is of the EKULD junk.I will paste what I can real quick here guys....but I am locked out too.

The reported proposition is a 2 year deal worth $9-10 million, ie $4.5-5 million per year!!

I think with the cap at 50.3 mil the max is somewhere around 10.5 mil...but I think the offer is 10 mil over 2 years.

This should be interesting to say the least...

Hasek/JLB

Cloutier as the monkey wrench in the well oiled Monarchs machine...making me feel sorry for them...

It's basically just talk between fans after the initial post.

I also saw this first at the Detroit News.

I wouldn't doubt other teams are courting Dom. What I would doubt is if Hasek is entertaining any of the offers...

This is just a report, so take it for what it's worth... (Link, quoted section is at the bottom)

"Holland has yet to conclude a one-year contract with goalie Dominik Hasek, 42, the Wings' most important unrestricted free agent.

Hasek isn't interested in playing for any other team. He and the Wings are close to a deal but still are haggling over base pay dependent on how far away the Wings are from the salary-cap ceiling."

Yeah, no way Hasek goes anywhere else, especially LA! I am sure he doesn't want a 2 year deal anyway. But like Jedi said, of course there are going to be teams that throw out some crazy offers just in case they can get him.

Dom won't leave, he likes Detroit. But I am not surprised there are other offers for him. My only worry is if he feels the team in front of him isn't a contender, he might make a move elsewhere. That's not the case in Detroit.

Losing Schneider and Bert (who never played well, due to injury) and Calder (who faded in the playoffs, unfortunately) even losing Markov if it comes to that -- those losses do not effect the core of the team remaining.

If Dom wasn't 42 I would say this is possible. I just don't see why he would go to a non-playoff team, from last season, for 2 years. If he was leaving I would expect it to be a better team than the Kings. But as others have said not surprised other teams are trying, if this is true.

With the luck we have had thus far with our own FA's this seems very possible to me. I even think some players may be shying away from signing with us if Dom is not in the fold... Eklund also has us trying to land Raycroft. Please NO!

That's what I was thinking. There's gotta be someone else if Dom doesn't come back. If you are doing a trade, try to grab Bryzgolov. He's better than Raycroft imo. But I hope it doesn't come to that.

If we lose Hasek, I'm just going to call the upcoming season a complete failure, and hope we tank it so that we can get a top draft pick.

I wouldn't go that far

if we lose Hasek, Holland needs to be canned.

Why? Because he's not going to spend more than a certain amount on the 42 year old goalie? yeah kenny pay to the max on Hasek to get him signed! and why didn't you sign Bertuzzi to a 2 year deal at $4mil per so I could come in here and complain about how you overpaid for him?!?!?! Give me a break. If he spent 4mil on Hasek just to get him signed and then spend whatever on some forwards and didn't have any room to add players people would be in here complaining then.

I'll make a bold prediction: people will complain no matter what happens with Hasek.

Fact is, the Wings want him back and need him. And Hasek, like it or not, is key to another decent season, never mind a Cup. He's not going to screw the Wings over for money, people are making too much of the delay -- for the umpteenth time, Hasek is doing nothing more than what Stevie used to do all the time: wait to sign until he knows from Kenny what the margin is on what budget is left after getting players signed on the roster.

Only difference is, Stevie would get credit for such a move. Hasek won't. Oh, well... <_<

I will give Hasek credit for doing that. Especially if he turns down the offer from the Kings. I really dont see him going there, I mean he has said Detroit is the only place he will play and it would make sense for him to stay here. Not to mention that part of the uncertainty of his return next season was because of his family possibly wanting to go back home. If he convinced them to stay in Michigan, he would have to convince them to move to LA. I really have faith in him to return, but stranger things have happened and I just wish it was over and done with.

aye, but I be thinkin' tha' one o' th' reasons tha' his wife be agreein' t' stay is tha' isnt this their sons senoir year? tha' might o' been a major sellin' point t' her "let th' lad finish out his high school career at his school!" then t' be sayin' "oh, he be havin' t' start at a new school anyways..."

(an' now I be laughin' at th' thought of Dom talkin' like a pirate! )

Dom would not screw the Wings again. After he did it once and left on bad terms, and screwd his deal up in Ottawa, Holland gave him another chance when no other team would give him a look and pretty much rejuvinated his career. He only wants to play 1 more year and it will be in Detroit.
