I'll chime in in a couple hours when I have more time, but I'll say this right now: Philly still won't make the playoffs.

Shouldn't Detroit automatically be first in the West since "the central is the weakest division". I mean what team gets spotted 64 points before the season even begins!!!!!! :P

potentially, yes...

but the fact that almost 1/2 those games come at the end of the season tells me we could be in a hole early on, and might not be able to close the gap on the #1 team...especially since we've got 2 road trips in the 1st month of the season

I'm saying this right now (not like I'm going out on a limb though): Detroit will take the conference.

I won't say SJ will overtake the Ducks in the Pacific, but Van is a shoe-in for the 3rd seed again easy. That's how the top four round out for me, and the realistic bottom sixers will look like this:

Nashville

Dallas

Minnesota

Calgary

Colorado

St. Louis

Not in order.

Prediction: Rangers sweep in 4.

Conn Smythe for Lundqvist.

Hart for Crosby

Vezina for Ozzie.

Add FItzpatrick for the Hart and Brodeur's backup for the Vezina then you're the Oracle of Delphi. :sly:

Bettman's kid gets the Conn Smythe. Bettman's kid's roller hockey team also (yeah, no ice) gets the Stanley Cup. Sorry Rangers. Little Betts FTW.

Why all the love for San Jose? They've lost Hannan and Guerin. They are by no means bad, but they will not move up.

1. Detroit (Easy Division, but we would be a top 3 team in any division, probably 2nd or 3rd though)

2. Anaheim

3. Colorado

4. Vancouver

5. San Jose

6. Dallas

7. Minnesota

8. St. Louis

Note that St. Louis reclaims their rightful place as our historical ******* in the playoffs. (Well, at least we went through them on the way to each cup)

ETA: Sorry forgot the east.

1. NYR

2. Ottawa

3. Carolina

4. Philadelphia

5. Pittsburgh

6. New Jersey

7. Toronto

8. Atlanta

Round 1: Detroit over St. Louis, Anaheim over Minny, Colorado over Dallas, Vancouver over San Jose.

Rangers over Atlanta, Toronto over Ottawa, New Jersey over Carolina, Philadelphia over Pittsburgh.

Round 2: Detroit over Vancouver, Anaheim over Colorado

Rangers over Toronto, Philadelphia over New Jersey

Round 3: Detroit over Anaheim

Rangers over Philadelphia

You know the rest ;)

im not understanding all the love for SanJose, personally i think they drop off a little bit this year.

who knows,

any kind of prediction/standings is but blind speculation anyway.

The Sharks have a pretty decent team. They haven't lost anybody hugely specatcular, unless you consider Scott Hannan as part of that class. Plus they signed BRAD NORTON!!!11!!!!1

/sarcasm

I'm curious to know why people are always so generous to teams like the LA Kings and Chicago. They go out and overpay for mundane free agents, and all of a sudden their a playoff calibre team? My ass. LA has the worst goalie in the league, and Chicago has and will continue to suck for years to come.
