University of Michigan - The upset - The future

I thought it looked like Matthews was trying to kick the Oregon players knee against the joint. But who cares, It still was a cheap move.

Yeah that move was classless. I was very mad at Greg Mathews. He looked like Marcus Vick. My freind called me, and said that on gameday today they said it was leaked Les Miles wanted the U-M job. Anyone see/hear this???

Les Miles has an clause in his contract to leave if he wants to, to go to Michigan.

You say lose. I say 'had taken away by the referees' failure to penalize Nebraska for having their entire team on the field during a decisive final play.'

They still lost though...

Sorry, guys. :( I read this morning that there are calls for the coach to step down. Do you think that will happen?

Admittedly, I don't pay much attention to any sport not involving a puck and a stick, but I did notice that Texas won yesterday. I noticed, mainly because SWF was there as a TCU grad (sorry, Jack...)

Hope the season turns around for you Michigan fans.

Was a bit disappointing that we blew a 10-0 halftime lead, but winning at Texas was going to be damned hard, and I wasn't getting my hopes up too high or "guaranteeing" a victory, so I wasn't all that surprised or shocked. Game was still fun to attend live.

At least LSU kicked a lot of tail against Virginia Tech and I had a blast for the most part the rest of the weekend.

EDIT: As being an outsider to the Michigan hoopla, this is just stunning to me, them going 0-2 to start. I know, to an extent I think, that defense is in question dealing with speed and the like, but is there anything else? I'm not trying to post like Michigan can "ever" lose, but this 0-2 start for them just didn't seem thinkable before the season started.

The only comparison I can think of is an LSU team in the mid 90s. They were really in the crapper in the late 80s/early 90s, but eventually got their groove back and into the top-25 in the mid-90s, and expectations got high again. And with a supposedly deep offensive team and a decent defense, they flooped one of those years to a 4-7 record, and nobody could really logically explain why after they got good again...

At this point that looks pretty good.

Speaking of, one thing you U-M alum can be happy about is having to travel less miles to go to the final game of the season this year.... Because it sure as hell won't be in Pasadena.

After the game on Saturday, potential recruits that Michigan brought in to watch the game were saying they wanted to go to Oregon. Ouch!

http://www.oregonlive.com/sports/oregonian...&thispage=2

I read that...good thing non of them were highly regarded recruits, but it could hurt in the future if Carr is still around.

I was watching the Florida State game on Saturday (they were losing late against UAB, at home), and thinking, "Wow.... U-M, FSU and Notre Dame could all end up 0-2 and unranked two weeks into the season. When has that happened?"

Carr's engine has blown.

*groan* -2 points for you.

Doesn't he have to pay LSU some ridiculous amount of he leaves for UM though?

$1.2-million. I don't think it would be a problem for someone with the university to cover that bill. I'm a regular reader of mgoblog.com (it's a great read) and in a post today he said that a "solid source" said Miles would jump at the chance if Michigan offered him the job.

I'd be happy with Miles or Ferentz.

I'm definitely happy for what Miles has been able to do so far down here at LSU, in spite of the obnoxiousl fanbase that LSU has overall. He went 11-2 his first year at LSU in '05 dealing with all the distractions from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and followed up another 11-2 season last year with a dominating Sugar Bowl win. And fans were still bitching that he didn't win a National Championship last season. 11-2 with all 4 of your road games against top-10 teams at the time is no simple task. Basically, he's had the best start of an LSU coach, but people still ***** b/c he hasn't won a National Championship yet and he's not Nick Saban (before Saban went to Alabama ). Pretty pitiful. I hope like crazy that he's able to beat Saban and Alabama this year so I won't have to hear LSU fans act like lunatics for the wrong reasons. And if he decides to go up to Michigan to coach (not saying it's inevitable and I haven't heard rumors etc.), no grudges held whatsoever on my end. It's a place that he holds special to him, if he ends up there in the near-future, he deserves it.

The word on LSU blogs is that they (LSU) are very happy with Miles and willing to offer him Saban type money to stay. That is a lot of money and is UM willing to pay the price. Or is Mr. Miles willing to take less for his supposedly dream job? He had a good recruiting classs last year and it looks to be very good this year. It will be very interesting to see what UM does with this coaching situation and what Mr. Miles will do. The one coach I thought would be a great choice Bobby Pertino (guessing on the spelling of the last name) unfortunately went to the NFL with the Falcon. It will also be very intersesting to see what happens in Maimi, Florida State, and Notre Dame, the rest of the season. It could be a very touch year for these once great programs.

The recent play and injuries will make the EMU vs UM game especially interesting... Being an EMU Alumni, I almost have to say I am rooting for them. Go figure EMU might actually have a chance to win in the big house.
