Very good point I have no idea why I wrote that, I will have to blame it on the recreational chemistry!

Now you know why I don't post a lot at night.

Chris Pronger did it.

what a monster hitm Steve Downie is insane I can't wait til he's a reg in the league

By "monster hit," I imagine you mean "totally illegal and dangerous charging hit."

After watching that clip it is fairly obvious to me that Downie went for McAmmond's head, and to cause maximum damage he could possibly make. Downie showed absolutly no respect for fellow players. Play like this doesn't belong in ANY hockey level.

Haha, I was watching the highlights and they interviewed Mcgrattan. If Downie ever takes the to the ice agaisnt Grats, he's gonna get killed. Mcgrattan promised he'd get payback, and good.

Or he could be like Gauthier and turtle, easy way to get out of it.

I'd love for Downie to make the flyers, take a run at Crosby and let him see what Laraque has to say about it, that is one player I'd love to see injuried. Its sad I have only heard negative things about this guy and he hasn't even made the team. HELL I'd love to see TooToo have a game against him. Remember this and remember this well, live by the sword die by the sword.

that didn't work out to well for Claude though

While there is no doubt that McCammond was hit in the head, and Downie did leave his feet, I still don't think he should have been suspended. Here is why.

First, McCammond is a bit of a tough guy. Downie is a bit of a tough guy. Earlier in the shift, Downie got sat down, so he was out to even the score. McCammond, more than anyone else on the Sens should have been aware of what could, and eventually did, happen.

Second, it wasn't a late hit. McCammond had just passed the puck. Even though McCammond did just pass the puck, there was no way that Downie could have seen that. Watch the replay, just as McCammond is passing the puck. From where Downie was, there is no way he could have seen that.

Finally, McCammond, again a bit of a tough guy in his own right, should have known better than to skate with his head down. That is a rookie mistake. If Colby Armstrong didn't get suspended for the hit he threw in the playoffs, how is Downie going to get suspended for this hit? A 5 minute major, maybe a game misconduct. But not a suspension.

Good. f*** Downie for jumping into someone like that. He's no better than that doche-bag Pronger if he continues to act like that.

Of course it takes a solid dozen years of dirty hits to reach Pronger's level of douchebaggedry.

*waits for Lou to make a dirty dozen joke and EVA to correct the number of years played*

The thing is that the NHL needs to start making a precident for hard across the board suspensions for any headshots like this.

Does anyone here want to see this s*** keep happening? s*** like this isn't hockey. Rock a guys face off like Cleary did to Panny in the playoffs, but don't throw your shoulder into their skulls.

This is the only part of your statement that is correct. The rest of what you say could be used to argue the fact that Todd Bertuzzi never should have been suspended for the Steve Moore Incident.

Hits---DIRTY, CHEAP hits--like this one have no place in hockey. Leaving your feet to throw a hit in any situation is unacceptable. Throwing your shoulder into a guy's head when you can see he's not looking is unacceptable. It's time for the NHL to make a statement about hits like this. I say Downie should get 20 games.

Dead McAmmond is NOT a tough guy. Maybe this McCammond guy you are talking about is - but the guy who plays for the Sens is definitely not.

Just cause a guy got hit earlier in the shift doesn't mean everyone on the ice should fear him for the rest of the game, and thus make him immune from any retaliatory act. In fact quite the opposite, because Downie did it out of retaliation, he WILL be suspended.

For me its more of a moral question - it was dirty because Downie knew he would hurt McAmmond and could have easily pulled up, or just not left his feet. 90% of players in the league - those with respect for the game and other players would not have left their feet, or not hit a guy in that position in the first place.

Hit was dirty, incredibly dirty and he will get punished. Aside from that I love Downie as a player, used to go to a bunch of Windsor Spitfires games when he wore the C there and watching him play was worth admission itself
