Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 I wish we had stolen Penner. Not for five million a season with the upcoming signings Detroit needs to make at the end of this season! That's the only reason Detroit didn't keep Bert or go for any of the interesting UFA forwards this summer (aside from the retardedly high price ones- Holland's just not that desperate). Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted October 8, 2007 Looks like the new LGW whipping boy has been selected. Let the games begin. He's much worse then Lang so he suits the role better. Lang didnt get his fair shake, Samuleson did, and sucked badly. Good luck to Lang, and heres to Sammy getting booed out of town in the same nature of the aformentioned. Just kidding Go Sammy! Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted October 8, 2007 Looks like the new LGW whipping boy has been selected. Let the games begin. Mikeal Samulesson is lazy and he sucks. Seems appropriate. Hey, all he needs to do is drop the gloves once or twice and instant love will befall him despite his shortcomings. Look at how everyone hopped on the "Pain Train" bandwagon last season with Lilja. He looked like Patrice Brisebois in that March 26th game against Anaheim (the one where he fought Moen), but because of the fight nobody said anything. Either they we're all too happy or too shocked that he fought to say anything. I will call it now: if Samulesson get's into 1, just 1 fight, people will automatically jump on the Samulesson bandwagon. And for those bold ones on here who say people don't like fighting, I laugh, because the proof that people do is all in the Lilja.

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted October 8, 2007 So am I, and my point goes WAY beyond Lilly and his paintrainwagon. Useless player = BOOOOO!! Useless player + fight = YAAAAY!!!! To top it off NN, the real ironic part is that Lilja stepped up his game big time right around the time he got in that fight. Rather than people actually seeing the Lilja was playing good, it was all Pain-Train this and Pain-Train that. But sure enough, one mistake in the playoffs, and he was getting ripped the same way he was a year ago today.

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted October 8, 2007 (edited) If that playoff mistake wasent as big as it was, everyone would still love him tho NFM. It's sad.........solid play for 4 months at the most crucial time of the season isn't enough to credit a player, but one mistake seems to be enough to condemn one. That play wouldn't have even happened if that game had been closed out in regulation like it should've been. Sidenote: If Dom had stopped Selanne, 95% of the members on this board wouldn't remember that play. Edited October 8, 2007 by Never Forget Mac #

There's no reason to talk about this now, but I don't see how you can blame anyone here for being upset with Lilja over that mulligan he pulled. We might have won the cup if not for that play. Sports history is laden with screwups like Lilja that will always be remembered for one idiotic mistake that they made in a big moment. We can't just pretend on this forum that it never happened. It was more prominent because it was the last one, but Franzen's failure to clear the puck in the waning moments of regulation was the bigger and more important mistake. Without that one we win. Lilly's mistake not happening doesn't mean we win. We just don't lose on that play.
omnipotent_hudler 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2007 LETSGOWINGS.com- RuutuandHavlatownZetterberg wasn't about to back up his trash talk by actually taking some risk on his team. The poster, who many speculate has not left his computer chair in years, refused to take up a bet by a fellow LGW member. Commenting on his lack of balls, RuutuandHavlatownZetterberg deflected attention from the bet by citing his lack of money. "I just, you know, blew it on porn sites. I totally would have made that bet if I had the money, but I have enough trouble sneaking it from my moms wallet. But know this, the BlackHawks are totally going to win the Central Division this year. The Stanley cup, too." The bet, which was made for an amount of $20, was on whether or not the Red Wings would take the Central Division this year. RuutuandHavlatownZetterberg has often made the claim that the Wings will fall to the BlackHawks this year, oddly enough citing players like Robert Lang and Brent Sopel as reasons that this will happen. While such statements seem like contradictions to all reason, it remains to be seen whether this curious poster suffers from mental disorders that may explain his behavior. haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted October 10, 2007 I accepted the bet with this young Hudler but he as of yet has not gotten back to me. It must be due to his lack of a pair. Could you take your little tiffs to PM's there princess? You're cluttering up the threads. And if you keep dragging discussions off topic by trolling, I'm guessing the mods will eventually get fed up and ban you. And that would be such a loss to LGW.com, it would pain me so if that happened.

Nevermind the fact that Franzen's failed clearing attempt was a more severe mistake. Since Lilja's mistake resulted in a goal within 2 seconds of it happening, it has to be his fault that the Wings lost. GMR, the big picture here is not Lilja's *OT* mistake.
