peter forsberg - only willing to go to ottawa or colorado

I'm going to go ahead and just add this to the giant pile of random Forsberg rumors that have been spewed out since the summer. Apparently every team in the league is currently in talks with him, and his choice is down to Colorado or whatever city the reporting news outfit is based in.

On paper he would look nice on the second line with some combination of Hudler/Filppula/Franzen/Samuelsson, but if he wants any more than a 1-year 2mil deal then no thanks, there will be better options available as the season progresses.

Dumont or Ryder =

Do you think Nashville you trade Legwand? I'd take him too.

Any of Nashville's UFAs are an option until they know their future is safe. If Legwand keeps on pace for 65ish points, Nashvilles gonna have to compete with clubs that might offer him up to 5M in free agency, Im not sure theyd even be willing to give him 4, depending on their financial situation. Im guessing it depends on who their RFAs are. Theyll need to give out some money to stay above the cap floor, but they might give that money to the likes of Suter, Weber, Radulov, etc. Who knows, but its defnitely not out of the question.

Im going to hold out that Nashville wont mind trading with Detroit, and we can get in on either getting Legwand or Dumont for the 2nd line. If Montreals out, Ryder is another option. Im warming up to the idea of Feds too.

And...way for Colorado to address their needs in goal and defense. I guess they think if they just pile on the offense, theyll be ok.

I'd take Legwand for sure!! Not so sure about Dumont or Feds tho...

I would be jumping off the walls if we got Dumont. The guy is so underrated. He knows how to score, and his overall awareness is top notch. IMO Dumont would fit in perfectly with our system. Man that would be sweet.

i think Dumont is incredibly soft, but he can score...

They can have him. Sure, I'd love it if we nabbed him but he's so brittle these days. He was an absolute bust for the Preds and I'm sure there's a good chance he'll be injured again or a non-factor.

I wouldn't say that he was a bust at all for the Preds. He did get injured, which is definitely bad baggage for someone with his history, but even with the on and off injuries, he managed 15 points in 17 games with the preds, and 4 points in their five game playoff run, which was second on the team.

The only setback for me personally is his injury history, and the fact that he wants a 3 year deal. Especially after going the past year repeatedly saying that he was contemplating retirement.

There was a time when I would have definitely wanted Forsberg on the team, but for about the last several years, ehh...not so much. You can't count on getting enough healthy games out of him to warrant the investment.

That's is one weakness. He is pretty soft. But to have a playmaker like Dumont on the second line would be a big offensive advantage. Would be nice if he could hit though.

Hahahaha.

Alright, so can Koivu also not play defence? Because I know your basing this off his +/-. He has scored back to back 30 goal seasons, something Samuleson could never do. Babcock would not eat him alive, he doesnt eat Filpula or Hudler alive and they havent played well defensively this season. Also, he shoots alot, because he's a sniper, thats what they do, and add in the fact he has a terrific shot, there's nothing wrong with that.

Sure, he is a great player, but the truly great players actually play during the season! How many times does this guy sit out a season then waltz in come playoff time. It's too bad he is so good and this kind of prima donna behavior is rewarded. It's like a smart kid being allowed to tell his mommy he is sick and can't go to school and only show up for final exams.

I woulda been disappointed if he was coming to Detroit actually

We barely have enough time to distribute among current players who are going to help us for a long time

It's pretty funny how quickly the tide turns. Fors at the deadline last year? Okay, we're on the train! Send us Forsberg Kenny!

After he goes to Nashville? Boooooohoooooo. We didn't want him anyway. He's so awful. And then rinse wash and repeat here.

The guy will be in Col or Ott by year's end, but he'll do good for them. He put up points and he'll probably do it again.

Yeah but then they may be stuck with his broke down ass for three years.

Actually I can't see any club being dumb enough to sign him for that length. But he could probably get two years out of Colorado.

Is he really demanding that? That's pretty ridiculous if so.

I guess make the city list include only Denver now.

The article makes it sound as if he is.

I wouldn't have minded Forsberg at the deadline if he were healthy, but three years would be crazier than signing Bertuzzi for the length he wanted.
