Good news...but very expected....At least we will have a good penalty kill for a couple more years

oh come on, draper is worth more than just a PK role. i love his speed and he displays an offensive spark.

somewhere in the world, draperfan is one happy fella.

awesome to see. so happy.

best $1 ever spent by the Wings.

Beautiful contract extension by Kenny. A cheap price, for a quality NHLer like Draper. It's great knowing we have Drapes for another 3 years. And hopefully more to come after that. Bravo Ken Holland. Great work!

Since this extension was obviously signed prior to December 31st, am i correct in assuming that this year's salary

(from the previous contract) becomes part of the new contract, thus lowering this season's cap number by a few hundred thousand dollars?

If so, a shrewd move by Holland, as the more cap room he can clear, the more improvements he can make prior to

playoff time.

Nyet. Doesn't matter when the contract is signed, you can't affect the current cap hit on a contract extension.

His new contract and cap hit does not take effect until next season.

I told myself I'd be happy with anything below 2mil so this deal sounds great. I'm hoping it ensues that he retires a wing.
