kylee 727 Report post Posted November 6, 2007 (edited) i suddenly ran into this old article where the writer predicts detroit to fall to 7th in the conference and barely make the play-offs and to be de-throned by nashville in the central. to me it ranks up there with some guy from FSN midwest from st. louis saying how all of the Detroit players hated Mike Babcock last year and the locker room (and team) would implode by Christmas last year. boy i tell ya, some people who follow the NHL really don't like the red wings. linkage: http://proxy.espn.go.com/nhl/preview2006/n...e=preredwings06 to the naysayers. puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted November 6, 2007 some people who follow the NHL really don't like the red wings. Burnside doesn't like the Wings, I think. Aside from being right about Pavel, he was pretty far afield on most other things, wasn't he? I often wonder why people like him get paid to write about hockey. There are a ton of people in this forum who are better writers and who are a LOT smarter.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 6, 2007 Haha, I find it funny that the 2 guys he thought would be terrible, were fantastic last season (Dom and Cheli). Haha, we showed ESPN, 6 spots higher, and way above Nashville. At least this season they knew we were going to be a dominant team, so they didnt have to look like fools by saying "Uh, Nashvile wil finish higherrr den dos Red Wings!!1!" Elshupacabra 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2007 ...but the decline many thought would begin last season will be in full evidence in 2006-07. That sounds like a guarantee to me, I want the time I spent reading this out and out lie back....

Well, Nashville was giving Detroit a run for their money in the division for most of last year so maybe that writer was actually on to something. *ESPN sucks because they don't pay as much attention to hockey! Melrose shave your mullet! Stop broadcasting video poker and baseball and basketball you stupid hosers OMG! ESPN OMG YOU STINK!* DISCLAIMER: Yes, that was sarcasm and an extreme overembelishment on my part...because as hard as this may be to actually contemplate for some members in here (not you specifically that I quoted, just generally speaking), ESPN is actually not all that bad. auxlepli 17 Report post Posted November 6, 2007 IIRC most writers and reporters said the Wings would fall. One of these days the talking heads might be right, but I hope it's not in my lifetime.

And when the ducks win 3 games in a row... ouch that hurt me.. ...while I do see & understand your disgust in Neidermayer (we had it happen before, ahem, Barry Sanders, ahem) but more so I believe the "TRADE" of Dustin Penner for Todd Bertuzzi/Mathieu Schneider hurt you more (Man, I wish it were an actual trade that happened, Penner would look great in a Wings uni.) zata40 3 Report post Posted November 6, 2007 Does Hasek have enough magic left in his tank to prevent what many believe is an inevitable combustion in Motown? If history is any indication, the answer is no. wow, stuff like this is just to funny.
Louisville 112 Report post Posted November 7, 2007 (edited) Defense: The Wings' defense has an element of the ridiculous and the sublime with the inexplicable return of Chelios, who will turn 45 in January. Yes, he was a member of the U.S. Olympic team in February (a mistake as it turns out) and he played very well for a man of his age. But at some point, a team that fancies itself a dynasty needs to cut the ties and allow its young players to develop. Plus, having the sometimes cantankerous Chelios around when things start to go sour might not be the best thing. That last sentance was so ridiculously stupid I had to read it twice. Also," Kronwall has the tools to ensure that the Norris Trophy takes up a permanent residence in Detroit." is kind of funny. I love Kornner but C'MON!
