Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 10, 2007 So, I was watching the TSN show and they said Does Sundin belong in the Hall of Fame? Well, when it came Dregers turn to speak he said "He's got the numbers, and when he wins a cup with Detroit this year, it'll be a lock" Now, it could be Dreger throwing it out there, but he's an Insider and knows alot about the Leafs. I for one, would LOVE to get Sundin, and's size, grit, skill and leadership, it would cost a little bit. Premature, but it caught me as odd that he would bring it up. jenova0 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2007 I would welcome Sundin here with open arms. He's about the only Leaf I would...
StaticWithABeat 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2007 That would sure solve our secondary scoring problem...although he's said numerous times that he has no interest in leaving Toronto.
Guest Agalloch Report post Posted November 10, 2007 Not happening, and even if it were to happen, it wouldn't happen this early, and I doubt he has any inside information.
datsyukonethree 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2007 It seems like this has come up every year for the last ten seasons. I'm not sure I believe it any more now than before, although I will say that having Sundin to center our second line would certainly put us over the edge. Guest wingswillwincup Report post Posted November 10, 2007 (edited) wow thats hilarious ...... i was actually thinking about sundin as a wing earlier today , if the leafs wont make it which is almost a certainty then i think this is the year there might be a good chance he gets dealt , and obviously they wanna do sundin a favour and send him to a cup contender , not only are the wings a cup contender but detroit is right next to toronto so he'd be close to there and detroit has alot of swedish players which im sure he knows well I really have a good feeling about this deal happening unless they ask for way too much for a rental player, the trade baits we got i can see us trading are , derek meech , jiri hudler( id keep him if it was up 2 me but i know sooner or later hes a goner) , kyle quincey( although id rather trade meech and keep him), the obvious draft picks , and evan mcgrath ( dont know if anyone would take him , big dissapointment) just for arguments sake ....... jiri hudler , derek meech 1st rd 2007 pick for mats sundin ... anyone think it can be done for that ?? 2 roster players and a pick for a rental ?? Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted November 10, 2007 I would love to have Sundin, but I highly doubt it'll happen. It was probably just Dreger either speculating, or stirring the pot. He's an analyst, and that's what he's paid to do.

Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted November 10, 2007 Armchair GM: Would you or wouldnt you. To Leafs: Meech, 1st rounder, 2nd rounder Sammy ( or replace sammy and a 2nd with FIlppula) To Wings: Mats Sundin You'd think they;d take it? Kinda pricy for a rent-a-player. Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted November 10, 2007 We would be sick with Sundin, but like I've said many times before: not happening. Wouldn't mind being proven wrong, though.

Guest wingswillwincup Report post Posted November 10, 2007 (edited) I really, really like this idea, just not sure what it would take to get him? and why is McGrath a disappointment? mcgrath was suppose to be a pretty good prospect and hes been doing nothing since he left the juniors Armchair GM: Would you or wouldnt you. To Leafs: Meech, 1st rounder, 2nd rounder Sammy ( or replace sammy and a 2nd with FIlppula) To Wings: Mats Sundin You'd think they;d take it? Kinda pricy for a rent-a-player. filppula ??? your insain lol wings would never give up filppula for a player for a playoff run , and as much as i personally dont like samuelsson the wings wouldnt trade him either ....... meech is definetly gonna get traded by the deadline , we got too many good defensive prospects he just has no place here , last year the trade deadline deals were mostly draft picks and prospects that were dealt away so from what i see our trade bait is ... draft picks derek meech jiri hudler ( dont want him to be dealt , but i think he will be down the road ) prospects i think CAN be dealt are ... kyle quincey evan mcgrath darren helm mattias ritola logan pyett again with all the defensive prospects we got , i can see us maybe parting with one of those 3 , we'd still have kindl, ericsson, smith waiting to join the club in 1-5 yrs not to mention kronwall and rafalski will still be here so we'd be good Edited November 10, 2007 by wingswillwincup
Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted November 10, 2007 I'd love it - but it won't happen...I'm not gonna say it'll never happen, just that it won't happen... Where exactly would we put Sundin? Last time I checked he was a centerman and we already have Datsyuk being forced to play an unnatural position. Sundin or Datsyuk centering inferior wingers on the 2nd line? I don't think so. We need a bonafide sniper on the wing, not another centerman.
Guest wingswillwincup Report post Posted November 10, 2007 (edited) sundin is 6'5 230 pds we dont have to many of those on our team ......... you think it would be a big problem for him to be a winger or to play on 2nd line if he came to a cup contender ?? datsyuk zetterberg holmstrom filppula sundin samuelsson cleary draper franzen maltby drake hudler kopecky that line looks pretty good to me , dont know about you guys but im not to crazy about antropov and look what sundin does for that guy , imagine how much of a help he'd be for filppula sundin coming to detroit just makes too much sense to me , and only way it wont happen is if toronto decides to keep him or cause there asking for WAY too much .... the wings are a cup contender , detroit is right by toronto so he'd be close to home and it wouldnt be uncomfortable for sundin coming here cause he would know lidstrom and the other swedes for the tournaments they played together , its a perfect fit Edited November 10, 2007 by wingswillwincup
