But that's the thing, he's not an enforcer. Nobody in the league or on the Bruins expects him to trade hands with guys like Boogard, Laraque or Orr.

He's a hockey player first and a scrapper second. He's very much in the same mold as a young Wendel Clark, Cam Neely or Brendan Shanahan. Only time will tell how good his hockey skills are but if he develops into a 25 goal scorer with the ability to hold his own against heavyweights and destroy middleweights like Bell, the Bruins will have themselves a dandy.

This is why I wish the Wings had better scouts in the CHL. It's obvious that Hakan Andersson is the cream of the crop when it comes to eyeing European talent, but we're weak on the North American front.

We need to find the equivalent to Andersson in the NCAA and CHL. But I suppose it's hard to pick guys like Lucic when our teams philosophy is puck-possession and speed. Players like Lucic don't mesh too well with a system like that. He's better suited for teams like the Bruins or Ducks.

Clark, Neely, and Shanny all held their own against the top enforcers, epecially Clark. I see Lucic being more of a top enforcer rather than someone who can match those guys on the scoresheet. As for our system of "team tougness" I've beaten that to death already on these forums, and I won't go into it now. You're right though.

Not sure how many of you have kept up with this kid, but last night he had another great game. Not so much on the stat sheet, yes he did have the game winner, but he was all over the ice. Hard hits, good defensive play, he is starting to show some real hockey smarts.

It will be scary to see this guy in 5 years.

Big kid, I look forward to seeing what happens with him in the next few years. As for whether or not he will be an enforcer, I think that will be a choice made by his coaching staff. If he's not producing enough in the points department, his coach may ask him to step up his physical game. If he is showing a lot of potential in the points department then push him in that direction. He's still mold able at this point. I think, however, that either way they go, they need to work with him on his fighting and checking and get him to heavyweight level. It would be a shame to let that size go to waste. He wouldn't necessarily have to fight, but it sure would be nice to have the option.

This guy is money.

He'll probably be a Duck by 2/26.

That'll be, what, the third trade the Bruins and Ducks will have made this season? I wouldn't be surprised if it happened, considering he's the type of player the Ducks look for, and the Bruins are extremely well known for giving up early on good prospects *coughBRADBOYEScoughcough*.

But... aquiring Lucic is nothing compared to that epic deal that brought former Red Wing All-Star and future HOF'er Mark Mowers to the Ducks. I hear their already planning a jersey retirement night for him now. :D

Watching this kid today I realized what I like most about him, he never slows up, never changes his game. He just goes 100% even when they were losing 10-2 he was still going hard on his last couple of shifts.

This kid in one shift just nailed a flyer to the boards and then made a jumping play to keep the zone, settle the puck and rip a slapper that Biron struggled with and left a decent rebound that no one on the B's could do with.

Regardless I really enjoy watching this kid play, he may not be the next Crosby or AO, but this kid could be the next Shanny type power forward. He is mean SOB, and plays hard non stop. Atleast the B's have one good thing for them.

Flip and a 1st rounder for this kid. :P

I was one of the people that didn't want to trade Flip, unless it brought the Wings something major in return. To me this would be major, I would do it in a second. This kid is 19!!!!!!!

I thought I was gonna get a tongue lashing for saying that.

I would love to see this happen also. It would bring the size and potential scorer we ned.

I used to love him. Now I'm just getting sick of seeing him take on middleweights and lightweights(atleast lately). Perfect example is their game against the caps a few days back. He could have easily fought Brashear. But what does he do? He goes for Matt F-ing Bradley instead. And of course, he wins again(and not by a wide margin). I like the fact that he can put the puck in the net here and there. And that he likes to drop em. But I think it's about time he starts fighting some guys his own size.

He's still too young and inexperienced for that. He took on Erskine earlier this year and got embarassed.

I expect to see him take on enforcers within the next few years, but not yet.

Huh? He KILLED Bradley, if thats not a wide margin to you...i dont know what is! Death? He's only taken on 2 heavies the whole year, and lost to both. Fighting guys like Bradley is nothing new. As GMR stated, Lucic is just too young and not ready to be taking on guys like Brashear. Somebody like that would most likely be all over Lucic. Shawn Thornton is the Boston heavyweight scrapper, not Lucic. What he is right now though is a damn good light heavyweight.

"Not by a wide margin"

Dude are you ******* blind? Just because Lucic threw a crap load of punches, doesn't mean he completely destroyed him. Lucic landed MAYBE two shots in that entire bout. Don't get sucked into the homer ass announcers they have. "OVER AND UNDER, OVER AND UNDER." All the while not one of those shots landed. Then Bradley loses his balance due to Lucic's strength, and the announcer screams, "DOWN GOES BRADLEY."

Landing two shots to a fighter that you should waste is far from impressive in my book...

Bradley went down from a combination of the gut punch and having had enough,... losing his balance? Come on man. Whatever the case may be, it was all Lucic and Bradley did absolutely nothing. He was overwhelmed and yet you're acting as if it were a close fight. And Im the one who's blind?

Yet i have a feeling you'd say Downey killed Laperriere....am i right?

Are you kidding me? Loses his balance?

This isn't Steve McKenna we're talking about here. Bradley is a decent middleweight fighter, and unless there is some unknown rut in the ice, he's not just going to topple over like a condemned building. In this situation, though, he got smoked by Lucic, and it's as plain as day.

There is honestly no reason for Lucic to go after the heavys. That is Shawn Thornton's job. Lucic is not a heavyweight fighter, despite his size, and evidence of that is his two earlier fights against guys like that earlier this season. He's a middleweight fighter, and guys like Bradley are in his own terms.

This isn't a case of a guy slipping on a banana peel during a fight. Bradley was overwhelmed by Lucic, and fell because of the punches, not on his own term.

He doesnt like Lucic anymore apparently, so he's going to view everything with anti-Lucic glasses. Landed maybe two shots? LOL. Hell he landed 3 alone in a two second span right before Bradley went to a knee the first time! Two my ass! He landed alot more than that. The fact that he's pissed off all of a sudden about him not fighting heavies when he's rarely done it ALL SEASON long tells me all i need to know.

What? That he's not a real fight fan, and just spewing stuff right out of his ass? Hey, even I could have told you that on first glance. ;)

...and yeah, I agree. How anyone cannot give Lucic a defininte win for that fight is just plain stupid.

Exactly. I hate it when someone says bad things about a topic they know nothing about. Just because Lucic isn't as good as Bob Probert or Andreas Lilja doesn't mean that he's not a great fighter.
