wingslogo19 281 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 I actually don't really have to much of a problem with this. For all you know Brian could of shot a puck at his head. When I played Jr we had fights in practice all the time:P... As long as they don't take it to the next level....But I would say though with all of the other s*** emery has done, he needs to leave Ottawa.. Lou, I think there's a video on TSN
imisssergei 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 Anyone who has every played on a competitive team knows this is nothing new. It only made headlines this big because it's Emery and he has been having troubles. Had this happened last season, everyone would be laughing about it. T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 Nothing wrong with hip hop. I like the fact that Emery is like that. Its something different. I like variety. lol Plus I like a goalie that can throw down. Seriously, thanks for disagreeing a very civil way. Thought I might get jumped on with that opinion, and didn't have time to craft it maybe as carefully as it may needed to be. Thanks to the gent from Iron Mountain for the supplying the the eloquence I wish i had.

Lou, I think there's a video on TSN According to the article, they bumped one another in practice. What is this, a playground? Jr's is one thing, but if I were a coach or GM, I'd be pretty pissed that two of my players, especially my 3 million dollar goaltender, were dropping the gloves in practice. Even as a backup, it's a really stupid way to bust a hand and take yourself out of the lineup. Edited January 8, 2008 by haroldsnepsts

12Newf 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 (edited) i saw this on tsn. they dont show the fight but apparently it started when they bumped into each other while skating. somehow this escalated into a full out fight but this is very common in other leagues, i just didnt know it happened in the nhl, especially with the 3 million dollar goalie as someone else pointed out. i also would have thought that paddock and murray would be pretty pissed but paddock said something like i really couldnt care less and im just happy it was emery v mcgrattan and not redden v mcgrattan. when i saw them on tsn they were laughing about it and neither had any visible signs of being in a fight. emery is crazy right now and makes the headlines every day here in ottawa with his stick throwing, showing up late and hell the other day he showed up on a snowmobile! they even hired him a personal assistant to help get his life in order. im actually going to the game saturday night and i sure hope its him playing so i can heckle the hell out of him! Jocu 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 Other players quickly stepped in and broke it up. They both laughed it off afterwards but were able to throw some real blows. I don't see it as a big deal. This surely happens more often than we think. Scraps like that happen pretty regularly on competitive teams . . . it's a good outlet for frustration and can actually be a good thing for team chemistry. Sometimes someone just needs to be given a message so they pull their head out of their ass. Maybe thats how Cleary keeps getting black eyes. Downey picks on him during practice. Sure it happens, but the thing is, I don't think it does happen at the NHL level that often. Maybe during training camp among guys fighting for spots, but not on a team halfway through the season. There's too much money on the line and too much at stake. I really liked Emery when he broke into the league, but the more I hear, the harder it is to like the guy... eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 If memory serves me right Probert, & Primeau went @ it during a practice...Supposedly Primeau was upset that he wasn't given credit for a goal in a game the night before; Probert gets a JLA employee to announce the correction over the PA system as the players are about to start practice...Needless to say Primeau didn't find any humor in that, & had words (which led to fisticuffs) with Probert. There's as clip/vid of it out there - I'll post it if I can locate it. Primeau was later credited with the goal, btw.

interminded 1 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 Everything Emery does (or doesn't) is under a magnifying glass right now. This were just two buddies goofing around a little bit.. and of course it gets blown waaaaaaaay out of proportion.
puckbags 863 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 On Home Ice on xm radio this morning I was listening to Espo's show on there and he said he had talked to Jeff Carter who played with Emery and McGratton in Sault Ste. Marie in jr. Carter told Espo that Emery was one the toughest guy's he had ever seen. Scary to think that the best fighter on the Sen's might be their messed up backup goalie!! Nothing wrong with having a favorite genre so to speak, but when he starts addressing people with that thug jargin, then it gets disgusting.

Hank 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 (edited) Emery is a major attitude problem. Insiders are reporting that he's not working hard in practice and generally acting like a spoiled primadona. Some are saying that the rest of the team is getting sick of his "Zoolander" attitude. Edited January 8, 2008 by Hank

GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 He didn't fare well vs Peters in that brawl with Buffalo last season. Yeah he smacked Matty Biron, but so what. It wasn't fair that he had to fight back to back fights like that. His teammates showed me that night that they don't have Emery's back. Someone should of stepped in there and defended their goalie instead of letting him take on the other team's enforcer right after having another fight. Turkey 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 Emory's cruddy play this year has been in part due to his lengthy recovery from wrist surgery. Maybe not a good time to play punchy-punchy-dumb-dumb in practice.

Some are saying that the rest of the team is getting sick of his "Zoolander" attitude. Apparantly there are some locker room issues between Emery and Corvo also. Not sure why or anything, but stuff like that is starting to seep out. I have a contact up there that was mentioning it the other day. Maybe not a good time to play punchy-punchy-dumb-dumb in practice. From what I've read though, part of the reason his recovery has been so long has been his attitude and unwillingness to really do what's necessary to get back to being the starter. I liked the guy, but the more I read about him, the worse he sounds.

Considering he also fought his brother Wayne before in a game, its safe to say nobody was off limits for Keith.
