Yzerfan1999 81 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 That was a degrading game. Maybe what the Wings need. They probably thought they could just dial in the win tonight against a s***ty team. Oh well - gotta lose 2 in a row at some point.

We should try and get this memo to Kenny. I've been trying to say this all friggin year. But noooo, People are like PMFGZ WE R WIN WE DNT FIX NOTIN@. We need to get rid of some of our flaky players. FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 Ok, let me cut to the chase for the post game thread: The sky is falling! The sky is falling! Now that's out of my system, let's forget this POS game and move on to Vancouver. The Wings will be fine. Yes,we will be fine. But we haven't been fine in a last week or so. I'm expecting total domination on Thursday. That was a degrading game. Maybe what the Wings need. They probably thought they could just dial in the win tonight against a s***ty team. Oh well - gotta lose 2 3 in a row at some point. Fixed it for you.

We need to get rid of some of our flaky players. I'm in favor of losing Sammy. There is nothing that I like about him. The only thing I would like about him is if he were on another team. I know I going out on a limb, but I hope McCarty gets back into game shape, and is able to come back as an awesome enforcer. Oh, speaking of enforcer. Maltby has to go...unless the original grind line gets put back togather, and they actually do some good.
tazzer82 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 Yikes. I turned the channel on to see what the score was, and turned it right back off. I'm glad I couldn't watch the game tonight, what happened to the team the last few games? It's good in a way though maybe they'll wake up and start playing like they actually care to win games now. If anything, I'm expecting to see them come out firing against Vancouver next game, and win it with no problems.

wings_fanatic 677 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 Well, looking at the scoreboard thsi is a bad game for the wings.... but if you watched it, they did not play all that bad. They generated a lot of scoring chances where they couldnt get the puck in because it was bouncing... just one of those nights. Ozzie did not have a good game, and that gave atlanta the edge. Now, in no way do I blame Ozzie... cuz i don't care how good goalies are, you have your ups and downs, and ozzie is on his down right now... but he will be back. So, what is missing from the wings game? Physical play? no... I thought they did pretty good tonight in that aspect, defense was not at best but wasnt all too bad, and offence was good because they did their job generating chances...hmm CHANCES. Thats it... the only one true thing the wings have been lacking is doing a better job to convert chances to a goal... Now, losing 2 in a row (3 with no win) the Wings, I'm sure, will generate to goals more, starting thursday, and Vancouver is in for a bad night because the Wings are gonna play viciously looking for 2 points (which means Dom is in net, and the team will actually play for him)... so.. lets just forget about this and move on... I mean how lucky are we... we are firsst in the NHL... and have won 33 times... quit complaining about the wings... they are human, they will bounce back (thursday) and play great hockey again. You're right about converting, but they were just really off tonight, usually some of those close calls tonight would be in. Did anyone else catch Babs being interviewed between periods (1st intermission), when he was talking about how the Wings know they don't play physical enough, and how they know they have to do better at that? He was almost panicky, but maybe that's just the way he talks. I don't see that much of him, since CI cuts off the postgames, etc. I didn't record the game (thankfully) so I can't go back and see what he said exactly... And yes, I agree, they will bounce back next game. I sure hope so! Another one like this is... inconceivable!!
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 It's going to happen every season. It happens to every team, and every player. Slumps happen. We'll get over it just like we always do. BTW, these type of games are much needed. These losses will be beneficial come playoff time. Trust me.
auxlepli 17 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 Ugly game. Third loss in a row, but apparently the Wing outgunned them from the second period on. Too bad they couldn't have put more of those shots into the back of the net.
Nero 20 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 (edited) There is a problem with this slump you see, and that is the scheduling. If we can't win against "easy" opponents, how are we going to win against teams in the Central division that we have had trouble with already, that make up most of the final games of the season we will play? We need points while we can get them. Edited January 16, 2008 by Nero

omnipotent_hudler 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 figures the only game I go to this year ends up being the worst game the team has yet played. I don't buy into the idea that the wings "found their game" again in the second half. Atlanta just backed off and defended. The Wings still looked like s***... passing was god awful, NO communication on the ice between them(where was the bench yelling at lebda on the 2nd Hossa goal? Why wasn't Ozzie tapping his stick when Lidstrom almost got stripped by the guy from the penalty box?), and a lot of weak shots on goal. Absolutely horrendous

Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 Yay! Rafalski led the Wings D in giveaways again! Don't worry, Lilja still sucks! Cheers to wakeup calls! esteef You know, something i was thinking about earlier was that thread way back about Barry Melrose saying Rafalski was better offensively than Schneider, but worse defensively. He was ridiculed here for saying that. Funny though, Matt definitely had his fair share of gaffs, but it seems to be much more commonplace with Rafalski. I dont know how Schnieder is playing defensively in Anaheim....but could it be Melrose was right in his assessment all along?
ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 I like Rafalski a lot, but it is pretty s***ty that Lilja gets crucified every time he gives the puck away but Raf not getting any sort of crap for his
evil204 4 Report post Posted January 16, 2008 Rafalski makes a ton of mistakes, especially considering he's making $6 million a year. I don't get why everyone is always saying he's so great. He's actually pretty overrated... It'll probably get even worse in the playoffs when teams start blocking all of our shots from the blue line again.
