OsGOD 3 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 I'm sorry, i never meant to hurt your feelings. I am just not sure if liking other men as much as you do is healthy for a person of your age. ARRRRRRRR, you gonna forgive me? I am just saying you let your favoritism get in the way of the facts. I am not just refering to one play, but over the course of the games. Cleary initiated the fight. I am sure he knew what he was getting himself into. No hard feelings. Trust me... I really don't care what you think... its all good. Not sure what facts are being pushed under the rug because of my favortism. but hey... like i said i don't care. My Rose colored glasses are nowhere to be found... I call it like i seem 'em... no need to sugar coat. and seeing how others are having my same views... hmmmm

edicius 3,269 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 SOB, I completely forgot the game was at 9:00 rather than 9:30. I just got back from playing hockey, and atleast I walked into a 1-0 Red Wings lead. How do we look so far? You and me both. I didn't jump in here until just before Rafalski's goal, so I missed most of the penalty antics.

CrossoverThrash 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 Cleary was cut by Progers equipment, nice play by our guys shows that physicality dosen't get in our way and i like how we are still controlling the puck while staying physical, something the ducks are definately not doing and we have to capitalize on their brainfarts such as pavel and homer in 2 on 0 and draper and filpula's 1 on 0s. We need to be smarter though and only have bertuzzi in the box insted of taking an extra unnecessary penalty.
Draperfan 104 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 This 1st period is exactly the reason why I don't know if we can win in a series against the Ducks. We're holding our own but look at the players they have that can play the game and fight. Pronger Beauchemin Odonnell Moen Sutherby Then they have the next group of guys who can and will throw down if necessary Getzlaf Perry Kunitz Huskins Bertuzzi Then there's the big firepower Parros May We're doing a damn fine job standing up for ourselves here but in a 7 game series I still have many doubts. I see lots of Wings being bounced around and drilled to their keisters out there. I agree with everything you said, except for the part about Bertuzzi fighting,he will only fight if the other guys back is turned, notice he hit Dom from behind. Saran 1 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 Dare i say Sammy has been looking better as of late? Yeah when he was busting out that dangle near the end their he had more flash than Richard Simmons does in his workouts.
Lidstromrules16 7 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 15 Penalties with a total of 40 Min in the 1st period.. Yea, at one point, when the wings were on the 5 on 3, the ducks had 5 or 6 guys in the box. This game has been great so far. Say what you want about the fight, but the fact that cleary decided to drop the gloves is what I am most pleased with. I mean, pronger is a good 6 inches taller than him. It probably would have been worse, if pronger had better balance. I dont see how people can say we cant hang with the Ducks in a 7 game series, I mean, honestly, last year was super duper close. It is not like they killed us. In fact, the Wings were the only team to give the Ducks a hard time. I think it would be great to see the Ducks in the playoffs again. Rivalred 630 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 Dare i say Sammy has been looking better as of late? Mikael Samuelsson is looking good so far tonight and the last couple of games he is trying harder, but he is still making some fluke passes and etc..... I wonder if his contract is going to expire and this is why he is starting to play a little more..
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 ugh. Is it time for the second yet? The intermission/interviews are really bad. All Star this and All Star that. Neidermayer should be ashamed. Rafalski got the best payback, so far, though. Hope he gets a couple more "statements" in tonight.

Drimo 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 This game is making my blood boil so far. Mostly because of the FSN West play-by-play team!!!! grrrrrrrrr I especially liked the "Franzen just cross-checked Bertuzzi. That's a penalty." but their REFUSAL to acknowledge that Bertuzzi completely ran Hasek from behind and was supported by TWO replay angles. Good for Cleary on not backing down from a fight, but did anyone else notice that gouge attempt from Pronger right at the start?
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 God when is Pronger going to challenge someone who actually fights? I'd love to see him take on Downey, or anyone in the league for that matter who fights.

Lidstromrules16 7 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 get used to it. They call at least 20 Penalties that are non existent on the other team to be completely honest, the calls havent been that bad. I thought the call on Flip was kinda weak, as it looked like he just lost his edge, not so much cause by the defensmen, but we scored so I dont care

Or how about when they were pissing and moaning that Downey interfered with Moen (never mind the fact that the puck was coming right past Moen)...and then five seconds later, Moen clearly interferes with Downey and not a word. HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted January 24, 2008 Cleary and Lebs both might not return tonight. Cleary with an eye injury, and Leda's arm? And that is why Cleary turtled. He was bleeding badly.

Dom certainly is accustomed to non-calls in his favor. Anaheim announcers are truly bad, at least tonight. They did make it til beginning of the 2nd to mention how old Cheli and Dom are though. Happy birthday, Homer!!

I see lots of Wings being bounced around and drilled to their keisters out there. There's certainly plenty of reasons to respect the Ducks and their chances in a playoff series with us, (their physicality) but if we're going to use the first period as a indicator of how we would fare against them in another series (which is of course flawed) than I think we should be encouraged. We are playing on the road on the second half of a back to back playing without one of our top two forwards...The Ducks have been off since sunday and played the game they want to play against the Wings all the time....and we held our own! The Ducks want to impose their will with a physical forecheck and they played with a mean streak...and we held our own. Over a playoff series, one team won't be able to impose their will constantly...no one is that consistent. If the Wings can survive like this when Anaheim brings the nastiness, we should feel pretty good about ourselves when we are able to impose our style of play shouldn't we?
