haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 (edited) Not watching the game, I assume Colorado had a goal disallowed? How'd it happen? The ref immediately waived it off, as there was a Colorado player in the crease. But the replay showed he was pushed in by Lebda, and didn't really make contact with Dom (though I'm sure his presence did affect the save). Basically Lebda pushed a guy into the side of the net and into the crease, right by where Dom was as he tried to make the save. It totally looked like interference to me at first. But since it was Lebda who pushed him there, it shouldn't have been waved off. EDIT: for better explanation (hopefully) Edited February 2, 2008 by haroldsnepsts
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 Draper scores before Sammy! Mark that in your book Aussie! The really funny part, it was an EN goal! It just seems that half of his goals are scored without a goalie these days. He's such a good faceoff man that Babs always puts him out there to finish the game, and he always seems to be the one scoring. The question is who'll score first with someone guarding the net? DRW Dominance 255 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 I'm sure we've had a few of those anyway. Let's call it even. The ref immediately waived it off, as there was a Colorado player in the crease. haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 I'm sure we've had a few of those anyway. Let's call it even. We've definitely had a few bad calls on homer, especially early in the season. It's nice to see one go our way for a change.
FinRedWing 172 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 Draper with the EN goal. Too funny, was always going to happen wasn't it? Yeah,I had no problems calling it after your post. Half of the credit goes to you! A bit of a boring one,but a win is a win.

LidsFan 68 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 I found the end of the game to be exciting, and I enjoyed watching Downey tonight. He seemed to enjoy taking on Colorado. I thought that the Colorado Goalie Budaj was fantastic. I felt kind of bad for him losing after all of the hard work that he put in. Not that I wanted Colorado to win, I just felt bad for him. Yemack 1 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 yeah I felt bad for Budaj, but someone has to lose and it wasn't gonna be us another game another points. p.s. Somehow I think a loss for us would do us good before the Anaheim game.
55fan 5,133 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 If I heard right, I believe they said this was Dom's 80th career shutout. Way to go, young man! Budaj looked very good (actually, sounded good- I was listening to the game). I'd like to see him traded to a team I could actually root for.
esteef 2,679 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 (edited) That non-call on the no-goal was right, Hannan helped that out big time. "Oh look at me, I've been touched by the giant Lebda and now I'm all over Hasek." Please. Refs got it right. No cheapies tonight. Kopecky had a few good hits and I didn't see anyone run any Wings after Downey's shift in the second where he faced up to prick1 and prick2. Way to hang in there boys! esteef Edited February 2, 2008 by esteef
adtthosa 5 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 I thoroughly enjoyed watching this game and was on the edge of my seat almost the entire time. A real playoff-type atmosphere, I thought. We completely dominated. I hope this is how we play every game in the playoffs. Budaj was fantastic.
Demolition Man 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 (edited) Franzen: Faceoff GOOD!! The Wings dominated across the board tonight on faceoffs. Z, Drapes, Franzen. And why doesn't NHL.com have decent boxscores? In my experience, the official game summary and event summary at NHL.com always have more information than any of the boxscores I've ever seen at any other website. Everyone makes the same complaint, but I don't understand why. Am I missing something, or is it just the formatting of the boxscores at other websites that everyone likes? Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 Nice to see Downey make his way into the lineup, especially since there weren't any injuries to deal with. He's a lot more useful than Drake. I think his presence in the lineup kind of settled Colorado down after they came out and were hitting everybody after the play. It was quite a boring game for the most part, but it's still a good win for the Wings. Glad to see Zetterberg score the winner, and continue his scoring pace. Yemack 1 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 Huh? what a ridiculous thing to say. You play to win every night!! yeah it sounds little ridiculous but after the allstar break I don't think our team is back 100% yet. We played well today physically but mentally, it seemed like we didn't much fire inside. I'm not saying we played bad.. I mean we really kept Avs to outside all game long but it didn't look like we had much motivation going into this game. just another game just another points. It's just my crazy opinion.. and I don't necessarily think that we should put the pedal to the metal right now. But I hope we get back to our highest level before the Anaheim game. RedWingedKitten 9 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 Just got back from the game. Even though it was a boring game it was cool to watch the Wings beat the Avs. It's the curse of being #1 in the league by a wide margin. Yeah, I hate that every other team uses us as a mesureing stick. When we win so consistenly the fire under our ass just goes out... I'm sure those divisional games at the end of the season will help our playoff performance. (when was the last time we could say that?)
