Seriously, do you think the team has been run a little ragged. Could it be that Babs has had his foot on the gas way too much and this is the result? What else explains this (other than you just can't win them all)?

the difference in this team between the first half of the season and what's been played of the second half of the season is profound. this team has lost it's heart. every night we're caught completely flat footed at least one period, usually two. the first half of the season we were playing 60 minutes, night in night out. this looks more like the wings we've known the last few years: do just enough to get by.

Injuries and passion. Of which, we have 0. Plus, our #4 forward and #3 defenceman, we are going through a rough patch, and it may last a while.

...that sums it up right there. This is why we need a scoring #2 centerman and a power forward. It's pretty sad when the mighty Red Wings, with all their glory and Hall of Famers, have only 3 ligit scoring powers and they all play on the same line! When your #4 forward is Dan Cleary, you are definately in trouble. Not to mention your #3 d-man being the Charles Rogers of the NHL. That sums it up. One line Team...

...someone please do the math for me, what percentage of the Wings scoring is by ZDH & Lids/Rafal? It's has to be a huge difference between the top 5 guys and the rest of the team...

Whether it's snowflake hasek against the leafs on saturday or average ozzie against the Ducks on Sunday, the goals against us would have been stopped by a Top Notch Goalie. Period, no arguments can be made against that.

Forget the D, Toskala and Giggy made the difference!

You know, it's been a long time since I've posted here on LGW (and I really do miss you guys), but it's good to see that you guys are still hard on your goalies.

Any "top notch" goalie would have gotten burned by the second and third goal- and maybe the first. Luongo, Brodeur, etc. do give up the odd goal you know.

Tonight, Ozzie is being hung out to dry as Detroit's defensemen are having a hard time with Nashville's forecheck. It's got them a little off kilter for the moment.

Still a long ways to go though.

I do mean it, I miss you guys.

Yeah, you're right. Because a 2 ON 0 happens to TOP NOTCH GOALIES all the time. Ozzie has nothing to do with the score right now. At all.

Your missing the point, maybe the 'Top Notch Goalie' doesn't stop that one, but the first one or possibly third let in he does. That makes it a different game. We have average ozzie and hasek not in his prime, which makes him a really good goalie when healthy and motivated to win.

Keep talking GAA and we have two solid goalies, blah blah blah, when the Detroit Redwing players allow the fewest shots against their own goalie compared to any other team, your going to have average goalies with great GAA. Plain and simple.

Well the only good thing about this is Nashville will get too much confidence then that will turn into getting cocky and the Wings will capitalize on that and get a couple goals in the 2nd.

I dont know. Theyve lost to a bottom feeder. Theyve lost to a bottom feeder whos also their historic rival. Theyve lost to their biggest current rival. And now theyre losing to a middle of the road team. You think ONE of those occasions woulve woken them up from their horrible play. Cleary and Kronwalls absence shouldnt affect them this much. Its the effort thats just not there. And thats the worst part..

I agree, however I do beleive that Kron's and Cleary's abence do affect us in the fact that the reason we are such a good team is because of our chemistry. But it also seems with a few minor absences we become shaken up yet when we lose a star (aka Hank) it doesn't hinder us as much.

Evening guys!

I'm late,my computer was acting up.

But not as much as our defense.

 Good call, unfortuntaley!

Osgood had no chance on the last two goals, won't stop some posters from giving it to him though. In Australia we've got the Islanders/Flyers game followed by Colorado/Anaheim!

we need more than 1 god damn line that can score. The people here who can't admit that are the most blind morons I've ever seen on a hockey forum. Hudler, Flip, Cleary, and Sammy are not good enough to carry a 2nd line in ANY combination yet. And now with the best player (Cleary) out until the Playoffs, expect a lot more losses till the end of the season until we get a PROVEN 2nd line scorer in a trade. We're not going anywhere in the playoffs with the team we have now. You guys need to look at it from an outside perspective and take off the Wings glasses every once in a while. Not every player we have is the best ever and better than all the other players in the NHL. We have a great 3rd and 4th line, they shut down the other teams big guns, but we have no outside scoring except for our top 3 right now.

the game that really caught my attention is when we played the sens and we came out with zero passion. there's just no excuse for that. i'm not sure what it takes to get these guys to care. obviously i'm sure they care, but it's becoming increasingly clear that they don't care nearly as much as the teams they're lining up against anymore.

I'm not too concerned about this slump. As has been said to death, slumps are nothign new to any team. Even if we lose tonight it's not the end of the world. In all probability, as someone said earlier, Babcock probably had his foot on the gas too much this season. They're way ahead in the standings, the team doesn't feel the need to stick it out for every game anymore.

That could hurt or help, depending. Once teams start to catch up they'll wake up.

As for the goalies: No, Toskala is not that great, and Giguere is only good in the playoffs. All goalies in this generation (with the exception of maybe Luongo) or streaky.

Not to mention that lacking a defense usually hurts even the best goalies.

Osgood has played well lately, and has been beaten to death, the Anaheim game was stolen from him by bad reffing. Hasek has gone from dead last in the rankings to first? How can he be bad then?

The Wings just need to get back on the same page, get their cohesion back.

Really, I think it's time for Babcock to experiment with lines before the playoffs. Bring up more of the minor leaguers to see who "clicks" with the current lines so we know who we can fall back on in the playoffs.

I think Preds are playing with absolutely amazing intensity with their crazy fans behind it. We just did not expect this. I don't think one or two quick fix is going to win us the game, we gotta match their intensity

Franzen getting a goal once every 10 games is NOT 2nd line scoring. We need players on the 2nd line who have an average of a point every other game, that's a 2nd line scorer.

At least it was good to hear that even Barry Trotz thought the Wings got robbed on Sunday.

He still doesn't have a neck?

Versus doubleheader!

We're getting the Ducks @ Avs too, they're going crazy from Teemu's return,Tuesday's not usually a broadcast day here.

Erm...go look at the save percentages. They're among the best. So there goes yoru argument down the toilet.

Let's talk more top notch goalies, like when they make saves which they had no right stopping, Osgood doesn't have many of these. Just good saves. Ya, he was hung to dry, but how many times is Toskala hung out by the maple leafs and robs players right and left!

If our D breaks down once or twice in a game seven in playoffs I want my goalie to stop a couple of these plays where he's hung out to dry!
