Hat-trick for Darren McCarty

Whoa, relax!

Anyway, I think that bringing McCarty up wouldn't hurt. We need to experiment with something to get back to our winning ways, and let's face it, a couple of our young guys are not living up to even half the expectations. Hudler is doing great, but he won't play in the playoffs. Babcock just won't play him much, so we might as well get something for him, right?

Kopecky is doing virtually nothing. He's not bad, but he's not good either. This is what we call deadweight. If we can pick up someone for him (or clear a spot by moving him), then it needs to be done.

As for defense, we SHOULDN'T need anyone. I don't know who we would move. They're all playing so crappy lately, but before then they played so well. Lilja is improving his play, btu he's still the weakest link.

As far as prospects and minors players, Meech has got to go. We could probably put him in a package and get someone good, and that would free up a spot for Quincey who everyone knows is better than Meech.

Anyone that thinks that Downey will play in the playoffs had better get their heads checked.

Bring up Mac and see how Mr Drake is feeling. I love the guy, but he hasn't really been much of a contributor in games this season. Half the time I am surprised when they mention his name at the end of the games because the guy has been invisible.

If there is anyone that DMac would be replacing on this team for the playoffs it would be Downey. Regular season he would most likely take Drake's spot.

I'm sooo happy Mac got a hat trick last night and appears to be on the road to playing good hockey.

Still, I think the excitement is clouding some perspective here. He's been back working out and playing hockey now for what, 3 months?

If you want to pretty much guarantee that his comeback will be derailed by an injury, put him in the NHL prematurely.

You're right. Because Mac has no NHL experience.

when wings fans drop there love for washed up players, maybe we'd actually get somewhere :)

I think he should be inked for a two-way (unless they are planning bigger things) now. That's not to say he should be playing with us yet... he's barely been in Grand Rapids. He's been only been playing for a short while, let him get a bit more practice etc in.

I wish the best for Mac, and expect to see him in a Wings jersey again. It's all just a matter of time, and even with having an amazing night that doesn't mean he'll be ready to play every night like that (physically, we all know he has the mind and heart).

if he's washed up he won't be back ... if he isn't there's a good chance he will be ... either way, there's no harm in crossing some fingers and spreading some love ...

Game today was nice.

McCarty really isnt ready to be a wing. Kenny Holland was at the game BTW.

McCarty;s fight was really good. He beat ass tbh, and so did John Ericcsson. They both won there fight.

McCartys wasnt physical at all until that fight, and not at all after it. So idk what to think tbh.

he looked good though, he wasn't a liability at all and played pretty well. He did not seem out of place at all. After another month of this, he should be in good game shape and maybe ready for the Show
