russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 YEAH we got it folks it is a knee injury. How bout everyone say it at once yet again. 2 full pages of "OMG it is a knee injury" Jeez. Downey didn't get ejected did he? Its a DISCUSSION board where people come to DISCUSS things... And no he got 5 fighting 2 instigating 10 misconduct.
Vilmer 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 It looked to me he kind of hyper-extended it after getting the jelly legs as he went down. I don't think it's too bad
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Injuries happen all the time. Let's all just enjoy the game and worry about Lidstrom later. If he is out for any time, we still have one of the best (if not the best) teams in the league that will fight out every little detail to win games. We'd still be the favorites, though it would make things considerably harder for the Wings.
Williams29fan 6 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I am happy about just going into the second with the lead. This han't happened in a long time
Mickeyisms Rule! 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 come on guys it was a clean hit, you cant expect a player to not hit a guy cause its lidstrom Are you watching the same game we are? He left his feet, he had his elbows and the butt-end of his stick in Lidstrom's face, and Lidstrom hadn't touched the puck yet. So tell me again how clean the hit was? GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I hope we're not finished with Lapperriere tonight? Maybe Drake can run him from behind into the boards or pull a Richard Zednik on him.
terri27 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Try this again... "He's does it all" Granted Lids being out will put a damper on the team but last I checked he was a player on a team he wasn't the team. Come on announcers.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Yep I think Nick will be ok, its not like he wasnt putting any weight on it. He looked alot more woozy than anything. Hopefully its just a minor sprain. sometimes I forget just how stupid the instigator penalties are. They should leave the misconducts to the discretion of the refs. That's what I was saying, seeing the replay several times, he looked woozy. Maybe his head is clear now and the knee is tweaked?
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I hope we're not finished with Lapperriere tonight? Maybe Drake can run him from behind into the boards or pull a Richard Zednik on him. That's a pretty ignorant thing to say.
Vilmer 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I hope we're not finished with Lapperriere tonight? Maybe Drake can run him from behind into the boards or pull a Richard Zednik on him. If I was Downey, I'd go RIGHT after him again. This is LIDS we are talking about here!
Packer487 3 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Now I want Drake to drop the gloves with Lappy. No one hits Lidstrom. Pssh! Downey has a couple more before he gets tossed If Lappy is still in the game after those (say he gets a roughing double minor like Mac did ) then Drake can have a go. It's too bad the Avs suck. If we saw them in the playoffs after this, it could rekindle the rivalry. We need a goalie fight in there somewhere too.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 17 minutes in penalties? Wow, the new NHL sucks. If this gives Laperriere time to go out and injure someone else, then this sport is officially screwed up. How is it that Laperriere get's away with only 5 minutes, while Downey gets 17? That's ridiculous.
Statts 4 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Well Lids did get up after the hit, so I hope that’s a sign of something minor.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I don't blame Laperiere, it was a clean check, it was just bad circumstances for Lids....was I happy to see the snot kicked out of him HELL YES. Do I resent him for it no, it was definately not intentional. I am not usually a big proponent of fighting, since in my experience, the guys on our team tend to just hurt their hands... but the way the Wings get kicked around and no one holds the other teams responsible, really gets on my nerves. It also makes vulnerable players like our goalies open season, since the opponents know no one on the ice will make them account for themselves. I miss Shanny and Mac right about now. Mac would have wiped the ice up with somebody by now. Downey at least tried to step up, not that it makes it all OK. Nick...
dicksmack 33 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I could be in denial but I'm wondering if this injury report is a bit of gamesmanship. Nick's knee twisted on the hit but he looked more woosy than anything. If it gets out that he's concussed teams will know they can knock him out of a series if they go for a head shot that might cost them a two minute penalty. russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I hope we're not finished with Lapperriere tonight? Maybe Drake can run him from behind into the boards or pull a Richard Zednik on him. Come on now, it was a clean check, Downey fought him, and kicked his ass, it is behind it. Lapierre hit Lids, he got his. Do I want them to keep on him and check him hard all night yes, but to run him into the boards and do dirty hits to him, that is not cool.
GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 That's a pretty ignorant thing to say. After what he did, it wasn't bad enough. I'm going to be pissed for a while.

Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Haha, reading the Avs boards.... "When was the last time we beat these guys? It seems like 5 years... As much fun as it is getting the **** beat out of us by the Wings, perhaps we should do something about it."
savaking72 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 This is terrible. If Lidstrom is out for a long period of time, this season is over. Go to hell Laperriere. F***ing *******. I don't think the season is over. You saw how the wings played after Nick went down. Hell, lit a fire unfer their asses. 2 goals! You saw the angle that Flipper scored that goal. Season is over? Heck no. the season isn't over. We have huge momentum right now...Do it for Lidstrom! Downey is the man! I am so pumped up right now!
HudlerRULES 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Its a DISCUSSION board where people come to DISCUSS things... And no he got 5 fighting 2 instigating 10 misconduct. Yes but 2 FULL PAGES OF "OMG IT WAS HIS KNEE" you would think after the first 6 "OMG it is his knee" ppl would know and stop the dramatics. It is basically flooding the board repeating what 10 others say
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 OK, this should be Hollands to do list for tomorrow: 1. Sign Darren McCarty to a two-way contract. Thats it. Seriously. You dont f*** with Lidstrom and walk away from that. I dont care if Mac was a crappy fighter in his last years. Now doubt he come back to the NHL if only for one game to kick the s*** out of Laperriere. Do we play them again? If not, DMac better be on the roster next year. datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 wings looking pretty good. dats is a man possessed, he's all over the place. obviously lids is a huge blow. hopefully it's not serious. he looked like he didn't know which way was up.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 And let's not forget that the announcers ALWAYS have to overhype anything. Remember if an obscure 4th liner scores a goal suddenly they're talking about how crucial he is to the team. And if someone makes a bad play once suddenly the whole team is sucking it up. haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Are you watching the same game we are? He left his feet, he had his elbows and the butt-end of his stick in Lidstrom's face, and Lidstrom hadn't touched the puck yet. So tell me again how clean the hit was? I can't tell if you're being serious or not. How could he have his elbows AND the butt end of his stick in Lids face all at the same time? And I didn't see him leave his feet either. His gloves were definitely up, but they were both going to make a play on the puck.
