This is a Joel Quenneville Special: Get swept by Detroit, start the cheap shots in the last meeting of the regular season and let the sparks fly between the coaching staff. Only difference is, he let his assistant coach do the honors this time. With St. Louis, he spent 2 minutes s***ting his pants trying not to look at Joey Kocur.

I remember that....Kocur threw a chair on the ice.

When will Downey be able to come back? Also does anyone think the refs will let them go at it this time? refs shouldn't put their noses where they don't belong. Remember they are part of the ice so if he gets knocked out then it is his own fault.

6 more minutes until Downey is freed!!!

 I've got this wild image in my head of a caged and pissed off Tiger stalking the penalty box. He's about to go all San Francisco Zoo on poor Ian. (At least I hope so, and sorry if the SF Zoo was in bad taste, couldn't resist.)

Seeing that replay of Lids getting hit again, I have to give props to the linesman stepping in immediately and helping him out, basically holding him up.

It was nice, but I didn't think it was their place to do it with the play going on. You didn't see it happen with Tucker's flying elbow to Kapanen's head.

Good imagery, but I that's not the impression I get from Downey. He's actually very smart about the way he fights -- doesn't drop the gloves if he knows it won't help his team and he protects his guys as best he can.

Honestly I agree. I think that's the kind of respect Lids gets. He was clearly hurting and had rubber legs. If the ref hadn't stepped in it would've been watching Nik basically crawl to the bench, which would've sucked.

You're preaching to the choir regarding Downey's tactics, but I think he's been unleashed since the Lidstrom hit, and rightfully so.

So what defenseman can Kenny go after before the trade deadline? The only one I can think of is Campbell from Buffalo... Even if Lids is out for only a couple weeks, we definitely need to add a veteran defenseman.
