Heaton 1 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 http://redwings.nhl.com/team/app/?service=...rticleid=354041 “The knee feels sore and a little bit swollen,” Lidstrom told DetroitRedWings.com. “I'll have an MRI in the morning.” Lidstrom’s injury occurred in the first period of Monday’s game at Colorado’s Pepsi Center. He was sent into the boards as a result of a monstrous check from the Avs’ Ian Laperriere at about the six-minute mark of the period. “I have a pretty good mark on my chin where he hit me,” said Lidstrom, a five-time Norris Trophy winner. “Whether he tried to or not, I don't know, but he followed through and finished with his elbow up on my chin and that's when my head went back into the glass.”
Mudvayneowns91 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Sounds kinda encouraging. When do they think they'll know more about the mri?
Inultus 12 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 So Lidstrom's assessment is the same as mine. Lappy didn't necessarily do it on purpose, but that doesn't change the fact that it ended up being a dirty hit and the elbow is the reason why Nick's head went back and why he couldn't skate directly after. Hope the MRI says it's minor.
puckbags 863 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I just got this from Red Wing's Corner, I remind you the Mike Babcock is a coach not a doctor "He's going to be fine," said Detroit coach Mike Babcock. "I don't know if he's going to be out a week or 10 days or what. He's got something mild in the inside of his knee. I don't know what the technical term is, but it just means that he's not playing right away." I sure hope he's right.
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I really, REALLY hope it's minor.

wingslogo19 281 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I seriously doubt it. Damn I was really looking forward in seeing him play live.. Oh well, my concern is just he get's better
Opie 308 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I wouldn't take my word for it, but I see them letting him sit as long as they can, same with Ralf and Kronwall. At this point in time there is no need to rush them. In about 3 weeks, then there maybe some urgency.

I think they said Raffy would play either Friday or Saturday
wingnut40 176 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 That was so heartbreaking to see your Captain like that. At least he's got three days to get better. If he's out there go are top three defencemen. I think he'll be Ok though, The Nickidge is sickidge!
CrossCheck24 2 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Let the man rest and be ready to rock for the playoffs. Now who hopes to play Colrado in the first round?

Drapes33 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Haven't been on this board in ages, but the news on Lids today brought me back. Anyhoo... My $0.02: Anytime you have a "spot", "lump", "small tear" whatever...inside the knee...it ain't good. Sorry. Not trying to be a pessimist but I have had 4 (2 scopes & 2 major) knee surgeries and have looked at a fair share of MRI prints. The question will be whether or not they have to go in to fix anything before the playoffs. Collectively we hope not. Second, regardless of prognosis it is the best interest of Lids and the team to downplay the injury. If he is hurt they don’t want players targeting him. He has been durable as hell his whole career; but ask anyone, once you damage a knee you are more prone to further injury. Moreover, Modry and Blake are off the trade table and the trading price for top 4 D-men will only go up. Having Lidstrom hurt only weakens Holland’s ability to negotiate with another team/agent. The truth about this injury will not be known until the Wings are done with the season and playing golf.
Avs in 16 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Let the man rest and be ready to rock for the playoffs. Now who hopes to play Colrado in the first round? Depends. If it's a healthy Avs team no one should be hoping to play them.
redwing_sparty 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Depends. If it's a healthy Avs team no one should be hoping to play them. exactly. colorado was missing some big players last night (not that we weren't). they are not as bad as they looked.
pavyaz19 1 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 there's something about the Wings marketing staff... i think it's that they aren't very good. of course you all remember the awful "fire on ice" logo they had the detroitredwings.com when the season began. now the e-mail about is titled "lidstrom talks about knee injury on drw.com" for one, it made me think it was going to be video, but that's my mistake. the worst part is in the body of the e-mail, there is a hyperlink to drw.com (no, NOT detroitredwings.com, but literally the letters D R W.com) which leads you to a California Investment company. I'm not the best web programmer in the world, but i sure know how to disable text from being a hyperlink. geesh.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 (edited) Depends. If it's a healthy Avs team no one should be hoping to play them. I don't hope to play anyone (and this is meant with no ill-will) but the Avs are one of the playoff contention teams I *fear* the least. Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Let the man rest and be ready to rock for the playoffs. Now who hopes to play Colrado in the first round? That would be fantastic -- not because of any of this "rivalry reborn" crap, but because we simply have their number this season.
KDDRWINGS1 9 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Is it just me, or did Nicks face look like a computer rebooting when he was trying to get off the ice? It reminded me of Terminator after he got his head smashed or Van Damme in Universal Soldier. This whole thing goes to show the class of the Wings cuz nobody on our team gets that cheap our head hunts other teams best players. I'm sure he'll be back in a couple weeks just fine ad well rested. I guess the only good that came out of this, is the emotion we played with after that.
HudlerRULES 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Where are those fools that were trying to say it was legal? GodieSid WHERE ARE YOU?? Didn't you say it was a clean hit and his elbow was tucked? LOL you fool.
Guest Crymson Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Damn I was really looking forward in seeing him play live.. GMRwings1983 8,803 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Depends. If it's a healthy Avs team no one should be hoping to play them. If Queerville was their coach, I wouldn't mind if we played the 80's Oilers or the 70's Canadiens in the 1st round of the playoffs, so why should we be afraid of the dives. We can't lose to a team that he coaches, plain and simple.
