McCarty officially signs with Wings

He'll no doubt be pumped to be back in the NHL, especially the Wings, and the fans will be as well.

This will probably get his adrenaline flowing and make him more feisty/aggressive....

This will inevitably energize the whole team....

I am very excited about the signing for the exact reasons you just stated....it should fire up the whole team.

I think it is their 3rd jersey. I could have swore they said something about it on their website.

Yep they have the white with red/blue typically for home, blue for away and these are the special wings color jerseys they wear quite often now.

They wear the red and white jersey a lot on home Fridays.

Is it because half the team is playing for the Wings? (Sorry had to do it)

I hate to admit this but I gave into temptation and wore my Mac jersey out today.

Just read this article: http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article.../802260397/1053

You know, a hockey hero is one thing, but we don't see personal lives or really know these guys. Darren may have been a great wing who came through years ago, but this article and the stuff he did reads like the familiar story of an addict and a perpetual f*** up. We all know guys like this and they rarely pull it together. Sorry for sounding so harsh, but pinning our playoff hope on an addict (gambling and booze) is just nuts.

Forgive is to forget....who are we to judge....lets think positive! I think Mac is thankful he is getting a 2nd chance!

He has something to prove, to himself & to the hockey world!

Did you submit your application for GM yet? Do you have some insight into D-mac that kenny is missing and therefore would make him realize he made a mistake? Maybe you should share with him

It's a fan forum. I simply expressed my opinion.

But, next time I'll run it by you first to make sure you approve.

Pretty negative article I thought. It will all be forgotten though, once McCarty lays out Pronger in the playoffs. Go Darren...stay focused.

He's no Saint that's for sure, but he seems to be on the right track towards recovery and getting his life straightened out. I think he has something to give the Wings and deserves a 2nd chance. I think he's earned it.

Go DMAC!

Congrats Darren, only 1 more step to take before the cindarella story is complete.....signing a contract is only half the story.

But nevertheless, I never thought he'd get anywhere near this.

I look forward to a 4th line of Downey/McCarty/Drake on the ice against the Ducks :)

i call GWG in game seven of the western conference finals in the 5th overtime versus the Ducks :siren:

I've seen this story now (http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article...RTS05/802260397) and indeed I know that Grinder is one of the most popular characters in Detroit but he was a pretty awful guy up in Calgary, married a girl, abandoned her, but not before racking up 20 grand in gambling charges on her credit card, took her truck, and drove to Detroit, giving her his "Dear John" via a note he left in their house along with other debts. I hope he truely realizes that he is being given a chance almost nobody else in the league would ever recieve let alone most human beings. It's very much undeserved and he had better realize how fortunate he is to still have friends in good places. It's not even about him battling his own demons and fixing his own problems, it's about all the people he has hurt along the way and continue to hurt or even arguably stolen from.

I wish him the best of luck and hopefully he makes the use of the NHL paycheck he'll be recieving instead of squandering it again (and also repaying those that he owes so much to)...but if Stevie Y was the epitome of class in the NHL on and off the ice, DMac is the epitome of a lack of class off the ice.
