RedStormRising 7 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 This quote should go right next to the definition for Bandwagon Fan Nope, he is just a realist. Unlike everyone else who things everything in Red Wings land is all fine and dandy.
Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 But it just isn't that easy. When you've got guys like Prospal going for dirt cheap, it really is.
stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 i'm basing this off of the dozen games I've seen Stuart play in person this year... I have yet to see his mean streak, but if he takes care of our stars by showing a physical / enforcer presence (again, that I have yet to see) then I will be happy with this pickup. As of today, we're no better with Brad Stuart. He will be re-inspired in Detroit, I can guarantee... there was no heart in LA, for almost the whole team, including management until the last month... you could tell several guys there already shipped it in... I will put it out there right now that he will be rejuvenated here.
StevieY9802 6 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 (edited) Can't wait to hear Holland spin this one later today. you mean by saying "hey I did exactly what I said I was going to do." Was only going to make a move that made sense and wouldn't throw everything away for a rental player. Lots of spinning there. And all the upset people and say Holland sucks. go be a fan of someone else like the Habs. You would be putting a gun in your mouth if you were a fan of them if you think Holland sucks. stillwater 186 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 ..well standing pat on offense wasn't, that's for sure! Right. Trading for Fedorov, who has 19 points all season as a #1 center was clearly the answer to all the questions.
RedStormRising 7 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 You don't have to wait - I'll do it for you right now. "At the end of the day there was nothing out there that made sense to us. Plus, with Cleary coming back before the playoffs, we felt that was equivalent to adding a player at the deadline. I like our chances going forward." LOL. Omg, are you Ken Holland? I could see him using that exact phrasing. Wow, I'm so depressed right now...

redwingsrule07 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 and you're basing this off of what? He was expected to be a number 2 there... he is a top 4, not top 2 and he is a defensive dman, not offensive, he will fit here PERFECTLY... and he's got a mean streak... something we BADLY lack in the back ice Amen! He should fit in nicely here in Detroit. In fact, besides the Ducks, there is not a better group of D-men in the NHL.
58Miles2Joe 12 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 no, more like he got shipped in the thornton trade to boston because he was an asset boston wanted boston wasnt going to re-sign him so he shipped him off to calgary at last years deadline to another team that wanted him he wanted to play out west so he signed with LA, he LEFT calgary.... Oh? alright, i like that scenario significantly better. thx
sticknmove 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Not a good day folks, the more you look into the guy the more negatives you find. Whomever said we should have just paid markov what he was asking was 100% correct. Holland's excuse will no doubt be spun so obnoxiously that I may vomit. But hey at least we stil have the 23 or whatever number of "prospects" that we didn't trade the "franchise" away for. Please. The worst case scenario played out today, we added a par (at best ) d-man and did nothing about our secondary point production.
dicksmack 33 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Stuart is an ok pick up but that's it?
loutswings 47 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 adding depth was my concern. the d is all banged up and any addition will help us overall. i wasn't getting my hopes up for a hossa or sundin. it just seemed too good to be true. i am glad federov didn't come here. plus, i just didn't seeing us dealing with a team in our own division. Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Right. Trading for Fedorov, who has 19 points all season as a #1 center was clearly the answer to all the questions. Did he say it was the answer to all of this team's questions? No, he didn't. Feds would have been a good depth signing. Not that I think the Jackets ever had any intention of letting him go here, but my points stands. Besides, our problem on offense is with secondary scoring. Feds would have been a solid secondary scorer, and shutdown specialist, and man on the PP point.
Hockeytown Red Wings 245 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Come on guys.. you have to admit this is pretty disappointing. Not a big pickup to say the least and we really needed someone for the second line. I am not to happy about this. IT is almost like last year but with us making a deal for ONLY Calder Not a good day folks, the more you look into the guy the more negatives you find. mario 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 are you kidding us?!?! seriously, yes, all 3 got better, but I still think we're a better team, ESPECIALLY with arguably the BEST defense in the league with Stuart added to the fold... when everyone is healthy, THIS is our defense corps: Listrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Lilja-Chelios/Lebda NAME a better D in the league, try. Anaheim neider - prongger schneider - beauchemin Doesn't matter only on Defense I mean whole team in general Anaheim, Dallas, Colorado and SanJose all got Better Detroit has Samuealson and Hudler, Lilja Lebda and u think they r gonna compete for the prize
sticknmove 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Right. Trading for Fedorov, who has 19 points all season as a #1 center was clearly the answer to all the questions. Spin it how you want, we needed to add some sort of scoring threat, and we didn't. It's as simple as that. All you sarcastic epithets will not change the fact that we new we had a problem, saved money last summer with the promise we would get a "top 6" forward at the deadline, and we waited. We waited to get a -16 Brad Stuart who is better suited for the AHL then the NHL.

sticknmove 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Our prospects aren't that good. Who wants them? I am sure if we put Howard or anyone from a list of 7-9 guys, throw in a pick or 2, add a little Kopeck, hudler, sammy, or lebda on top and I think we could have come up with something better the Brad Stuart. betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Rose glasses and the red kool-aid, better have those on or get deleted No, you get deleted when you make a thread regarding "1st round exit if we don't make a deal?" and then you make another thread saying, "1st round exit since we didn't make a deal!" In other words, a duplicate thread.
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 WELCOME TO THE TEAM, STUART! I don't get why no one is mentioning this on TSN or any other site?
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 This will help our offense, as Stuart has a shot and is a puck mover. He will be on the second PP line, and prob on the second Dline. BTW Kronner has to get moved up to the first Dline with Lids and Ralf the second with Stuart. Kronner and Stuart together scares me. They are too young to not have a vet looking out for them. Ya I am not saying that exactly, I am just saying that we had so many variables, plus the 5 million to work with we could have done better, and at least added some sort of offensive threat.
