Well after today i wouldn't mind that at all. LEt Yzerman try to get us more than Brad Freaking Stuart on trade deadline day. I mean why does it seem like Holland aits till the last second to make a trade... he had a few weeks AT LEAST when he knew we needed another scorer. YET he brings in a Defenseman that has -16 and now we are basically the same team. WOW can't wait till the playoffs now. We will definitely win a cup with Stuart back there

I think it is too early to be pissed at him. Sure we didn't get Hossa but we don't know what they were asking for. If this trade puts the Pens back where they were 5-6 years ago next year then why not let them do it? We made a move to improve our team, and thats what counts. Its seems like a fair trade right now.

He also could be a little gun-shy after the Bertuzzi mishap. Better to be safe than sorry, eh?

You know, it's funny that you should mention +/-.

Hossa is -14 on the season.

Fedorov is -3 on the season.

Blake is -13 on the season.

...yet I bet you were clamoring for at least one of these guys. Stuart is going to be a great fit here.

Stuart is a good addition; he's a quality depth defenseman, and we didn't need to give up any prospects in order to attain him.

What else did we need? Well, we certainly needed 2nd-line scoring. However, were any 2nd-line scorers moved today anywhere in the NHL, besides in the Hossa trade? No.

IMO Holland missed the boat BIG TIME this year. "We tried to make some things fit?!" Try harder. Detroit's defence is #1 in the league already. Yeah, it did just get a lot better, but our offence is still a one trick pony. I haven't lost faith in the Red Wings, just Ken.

The best GM's make great moves at the deadline, where's that secondary scoring everyone was hoping for? OH, they're in pittsburgh, dallas, washington. All we needed was a solid 2nd line player, center or wing. I sure hope Franzen, Hudler, or Filpulla can somehow turn into a solid second line sniper over the next few weeks. Although it's very unlikey.

I'm sorry the 5 threads of this that existed weren't enough for you!

Im glad at least we good a proved D-man... beats having to call up unproven kids and putting all the pressure on the goalies... but looking at how some of the other trades went i would have liked to see a little more.... but Stuart is a good trade in my books.

On another note... in reply to the first comment (although it does look as though Holland was playing it safe after last year) I was thinking, what would Steve have done if he were GM? Anyone recon he might be there one day??

its a good point crymson, and now that I have calmed down and am not as emotional about the hossa thing, I agree with you, with what was left, i guess this was acceptable

Right. Also, every team who were buyers were looking for 2nd line scoring, which made it tougher to find.

Going into the deadline I thought we needed to get a little bigger and stronger. Adding McCarty and Stuart is going to help out a bit in both areas.

Looking at possible line combinations I think we'll be a tough team to play against. We have a good mix of guys who can skate, score goals, and hit hard.

What do you expect Holland to give up? We have a solid core of guys, Holland is not willing to give that up for rentals. It seems everyone gets upset with Holland when he doesn't make a huge trade or enough trades. Not trading should be saying something good about our squad, we are solid. Also, waiting till the last second to trade is not a bad strategy, he probablly knows that teams are trying to hold out for more. An example of this, the Hossa deal, the pens gave up a lot for that, in my opinion, not worth it. The wings are fine, sure were on a s***ty little skid here but this season we have dominated, games I thought we shouldn't have won, we did, games I thought we didn't deserve we got two points out of.

Hey, great points my friend.

Stuart is going to be excellent here. He is going to get the Red Wing bump because he plays our system well.

I think people forget that Yzerman was right there with Holland today as was Bowman and countless others. It's not like Holland was making these decisions alone. He didn't bring everyone to Edmonton for nothing. Some of you are just impossible to please though so I don't know why I even bother trying to be rational and logical. You don't get it. It's not my downfall and it sure isn't the downfall of Ken Holland.

I just don't get all the drama LLAMA crap that I'm seeing here.

Sure Stuart isn't exactly the guy I would have wished for, but it's a tough market this year for whatever reason.

The cap is going up this off-season, the Wings still have room and their prospects.

Besides if Lids was healthy and this team still on a roll like they were earlier this year, would there be any doubt even now who the best team in the league is?

Let it play out. The NHL playoffs are excellent for a reason.

WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER SCORER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really? Because the Wings have been RACKING UP goals every game, right? Now tell me it's because of the injuries. Please. Because I will say that the injuries make it even more obvious that the Wings lack scoring.
