DID YOU JUST SAY WE!!!

Listen man I have hesitated on the "You are a band wagoner" when you post and I hate when any fans use the word we to describe the team they root for, and I don't jump on people a lot for using it, However;

YOU SIR, HAVE LOST ALL RIGHT TO SAY WE WHEN REFERRING TO THE WINGS UNLESS YOU SAY "WE WENT TO A WING'S GAME!"

You cannot turn in you Red Wings card one week (for a dumb reason I might add, remember when you did it and the team was still in first place in the NHL) and then say we need this or we did this or we whatever the hell you want to say.

And honestly I don't give a crap what the rest of the posters here think, you bailed on this team for no reason, and now they are you team again.

BULLs***!!!!

I always use WE when talking about the wings likes my own team. Have since I was a little kid hahaha. WE'RE GONNA STOMP THE BLUES TONIGHT BABY!

Cool, it is just a pet peeve with me, which is why I usually refrain from saying anything about to posters, most people around here use it.

However leftwinger has no right to use that expression after voluntarily handing in his Red Wings card!

What exactly happened?

THIS

...we trust this guy? He's brought us DISAPPOINTMENT every year!!!

...if he thinks that just landing Hossa will give this team a Cup he's an bigger idiot than I thought! He hasn't even landed Hossa yet!!!!

...Fedorov, Foote, Salei all players we could have gotten EASILY and he lets them go! I know what he's gonna say, "We were'nt prepared to give up what they were asking." BULLs***! If you f*cking think that your team is better off holding on the crap like Hudler and Filuplla and Sammy and whoever else isn't on the first line, then you need to check into a psycho ward, bastard!!!

...EVERY F*CKING YEAR HE DOES THIS TO US!!! We need a top6 scorer we need a big defensman, we need this, we need that!!! What do you we get? DARREN F*CKING MCCARTY!!!!!! F*CK YOU!

...this team will end up in the 3rd seed of the playoffs and lose in the first round!!! When the F*CK are we gonna stop believing that this guy is a good GM!?!?!?

...same s*** is gonna happen on draft day and then on July 1st! This guy has to go, I am officially handing in my Red Wings card, this team is doomed as long as Holland is in charge...

...Avs will make the playoffs, prolly play us in the first round and whoop the s*** out of us!

...Feds to Caps? You f*cking think Ovechkin is a scoring machine now? Wait till he has Fedorov setting him up?!?!

Holland is an idiot!

Then Dabura gave up on them too, hold on I will find that for you too!

I've been a fan a long time and have never dogged the Wings...not even the Lions...true fan. Where do I get a red wings card :hammer:

To be honest, I've always liked the guy. I was very disappointed when the Wings let him go. I know many of you think he'd be a cancer in the locker room, but do any of you think that getting him in the right locker room would keep him from being a problem? I would be in favor of picking him up at the right price, he'd add some grit and could pitch in some goals. I say we take a chance on him!

I am sorry but any one that thinks avery will jump to the help of a teammate is confusing him for a real enforcer. Yes he will throw down when it comes down to backing up his own mouth, sometimes, but he is not running around like Probie did.

Please don't ever classify Avery in the same vein as Probert and Kocur.

Perhaps you need to re-read my post if that's what you got out of it. We'd all love another Probert or Kocur, and I never said Avery was the second coming of either of them. I just want another guy that fights and scores more than 3 goals a year, and Avery does that.

Obviously we're all split pretty much down the middle on this issue (on THIS board?! No way!). Some of us want to give him a chance, some don't. None of us make the decision, so maybe we all ought to keep in mind how little our opinion actually matters anyway. Some of us are getting a little passionate here over pure speculation, it's the trade deadline all over again in this thread and I'm starting to get the shakes.

He's probably not going to sign here. Let's all relax, eh?

First off, I never accused or said you did anything, you assumed from my post I was talking about your post.

Secondly:

I didn't say yes or no I wanted him notice that. What I was saying is that some people are on here saying he will be the second coming of Probie or that he is exactly what the wings need.

If Avery fought like Downie (when he fought Lappy and others) and has the offense he is showing in NYR than hell yeah I would want that player.

However I know all of the baggage that comes with Avery, and some people say well winning cures all. Not really he was in Det when Det was winning.

I am torn on him, it just seemed to me that some people on here were a little too wound up about Avery (on this board?! No Way!, yeah I stole it from you).

I think Wings finally have enough grit, we need to make sure we have 2nd line scoring. Cleary please get healthy asap. Anyways Avery is a distraction because he talks so much crap on and off the ice. Chelly might talk on the ice to get into players' heads, but off the ice its nothing but class. I think Downy and McCarty can do the job, but if Wings mgt thinks they need Avery they should go for him, I doubt they feel that way, but hey u never know...

Puppy's offensive output is solidly on par with our current putrid 2nd line. Hudler has been snakebitten beyond belief for two months, but he's still only a couple points off of Avery's scoring pace.

Avery was out most of the first half having surgery on his wrist if i remember correctly.

Hmm - a disgruntled Red Wing fan since Holland didn't trade for any player that would guarantee us the Cup

Well he's not the only 1; while I wish Holland would've picked-up some help for the 2nd line - I'm not 1 to bail on our beloved Red Wings, & Holland for that matter since he's provided us a pretty good team for some time.

A true fan has gotta ride the highs, & lows of each, & every season.

I agree. Holland is still the man.

Avery wants 4 million plus per season. Thats way too much for Avery. as much as I like him on the Rangers if he isn't willing to sign for less then we gotta let him walk. If any GM is stupid enough to pay 4 million dollars for a guy who is worth 3.0 max they can have him. I don't think any GM will sign him for that money and his price will fall.

He also had a separated shoulder that caused him to miss some games before the wrist.

Avery has 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points in 42 games. (.59 PPG)

Hudler has 11 goals and 25 assists for 36 points in 66 games. (.54 PPG)

Don't get me wrong though, I still don't want the guy here.

Bottom line is his attitude will always be in question.

Some people, especially grit slappies, will be definitely willing to cast close to a blind eye to that because he plays some form of that type of game.

If the price was right, I'd consider a move and would be willing to take a chance in spite of any doubts I might have towards his "behavior", but not at $4M a year. Avery hasn't earned that IMO.

I perfectly understand why though people don't want him back in Detroit, and those reservations are pretty legit I think.

Avery has been playing with the likes of Shanahan, Straka, Gomez, Jagr and Drury this year. Hudler, on the other hand, has spent much of his time on a line with Drake and Downey.

Avery's pace over 66 games is 17-22-39. As NN said, Hudler is only a couple points off Avery's pace, despite being snakebitten and on the fourth line for the past 20 games.

First off, like I said, I don't want the guy back. It wasn't me bashing Hudler or saying I want Avery instead of him. Someone pointed out that Avery had missed a bunch of games due to injury. He has.

Second, we don't know what his actual totals over 66 games would've been, since he hasn't played 66 games. It's an unknown.

It would be like projecting Hudler's totals had he not played the last 20 games. He would've come out looking a helluva lot better than he's actually ended up since his scoring drought. For all we know Avery could go on a tear those next 20 games.

And did I mention I still don't want Avery back? :P He's got a lot to offer, but still manages to outweigh them with his negative qualities.

I got in this late, but I have no interest in bringing back Avery. There was a reason why we traded him in the first place.

Downey has fit in excellent this season, he's brought in a lot of the type of game that Avery is known for, despite a scoring touch, but most importantly, he keeps his mouth shut.

avery with 2 goals tonight against Isles and 8 goals in the past 10 games. Also, assisted on the Shannahan breakaway (beautiful goal suggest u guys watch the replay on nhl.com when they post it) shanny came out as extra skater on delayed penalty hid next to the boards and then ran out when no one paid attention.

Avery now has 13 goals 14 assists in 43 games. What's his projection now? :P

(still don't want him back here)

Yeah, because we got an All-Star defenceman in return...

I'd love to have Avery back. He's such an underrated offensive talent too.

shanny's breakaway goal:

shanny's goal

This goal occurred in most part because Shanahan was in the right position... and because Shanahan scored on the breakaway. If Shanahan had gotten the pass and not scored, it'd have meant nothing. Now, let's imagine if Avery had been playing with, say, Ryan Hollweg and Colton Orr, who are the equivalent of Hudler's current linemates (Drake and Downey). Avery wouldn't have had a future HOFer to receive his pass and score.

Linemates mean a lot. If you put almost anyone on a line with Shanahan and Jagr, he'll rack up the points. I guarantee it. Avery's point totals are coming from playing with extremely good players, two of whom will be in the HOF when all is said and done in their respective careers. As such, his point totals don't mean a tremendous amount.

How could you not love Avery?

That he's a massive douchebag, a locker-room cancer, a non-team player and in general disgrace to the sport of hockey come to mind as valid reasons to me.

How do you know he's a massive douchebag? You know him personally?

Cancer? Ask anyone on the Rangers and they'll tell you how much they like Avery.

Guys like Pronger and Downie are disgraces to hockey, Avery... not so much.

I'm afraid I haven't got access to the Rangers locker room. Sorry. Do you?

My judgment of Avery as a massive douchebag comes from what I've seen of him on the ice.

I don't think his presence here would be beneficial.. and the fact that we're having any sort of argument about his integrity should tell you that he won't be signed here over the summer. The management has a recent history of not taking chances on players of questionable ethical foundation (don't mention Bertuzzi; acute vs chronic).

That said, after gravedigging a bit I found an example of your e-GM skills. No offense. I just disagree with what your attitude tends to be on the future and on the intangibles, just as I certainly disagreed back when with what you were saying about Datsyuk. Other variables than simply points go into the equation.
