Sepster 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 Homer talking about his groin worries me. He certainly doesn't sound very confident that its not serious. Hopefully the ultrasound will give us some good news for a change. I am glad to hear Chelios should be ready to go for Tuesday and hopefully McCarty isn't too far off either. Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 This isn't as bad as it sounds... Homer: He's been playing pretty poorly lately compared to his play before injuring his knee. Maybe he's been soldiering through a sore groin for quite some time. Regardless, I think he could use the time to rest up given his style of play. He's not as crucial as Cleary guys and gals and we could use the extra top six minutes on someone like Hudler who needs a chance to get his groove back. I wanna see Hudler hit his stride and play like he did in Jan when he was second in team scoring. Chelios: Let him heal until the playoffs start Give Ericsson even more time to taste the NHL. Lids: I hope he's ok for Sunday, but they'd be crazy to rush him and they know it.

cirov19 1 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 (edited) Why can't Samuelsson ever get hurt? I mean, seriously? Sammy has four points and is +3 in his last four games. Chirp him when he stops contributing. Edited March 8, 2008 by cirov19

The kid is much better with skill players around him than stuck on the bottom lines. I say he scores tonight if he gets 15 minutes of ice time.. Oh another positive, like you said, is that we'll get to see more of Ericsson and hopefully Meech.
Yellowknife Redwing 57 Report post Posted March 8, 2008 With Homer's relative invisibility lately and Lebda being a bit of a liability, it might be a nice change of pace to move a couple guys who have been achieving recently into a key role. Meech definitely deserves a look for some added icetime even with a pseudo-healthy d-core, and I would love to see Franzen get an opportunity with the top line based on his recent play. Am I the only guy who's noticed how stellar Johan's play has been lately?

I have a better chance of winnning the lottery than Hudler scoring a goal tonight. I think Yzerman or Miroslav Frycer have a better chance than Hudler does at scoring a goal tonight... 55fan 5,133 Report post Posted March 9, 2008 (edited) I bet no Wing will score tonight either. But I bet that no one will score against them. (This bet is for local Detroit time, 6:20 pm, Saturday night, only. Eastern hemisphere folks who are already into Sunday should take this into account.) Too bad about Homer. Call me crazy (go ahead, you won't be the first), but I'd like to see Dats, Hank and Franzen together. For some reason, I think it would work. Come back, Captain, as soon as you are ready! Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted March 9, 2008 :puke: ...Hudler is not straight... ...he's a non-winner... ...he isn't 100% mentally there... Yeah- he may literally be in our top six forwards, be outscoring Val with less playing time AND was our second best scorer in Janruary, but hey it's time to throw him to the wolves. Read a few scouting reports dude. Hudler has a s***-ton of offensive upside and this is only his second year. He's having a better year this year than Datsyuk had in his rookie year. Hudler needs 7 points to match Zetterberg's sophmore year. My point is that both Datsyuk and Zetterberg are top 10 players in the NHL this year and had modest point totals in their first two years (although Z had impressive goal totals). Hudler won't be as good as Dats or Z down the road, but he certainly projects as a top six winger. The Wings aren't abandoning Hudler because they despirately need talented forwards, small or not. The Wings management obviously sees something in him even after fretting over your childish, 1-dimensional posts. I guess I could've included more "..." at the start and end of my sentances, though. Perhaps that's what Hudler's failed to do that makes him so mentally suspect in your "mind".
CopenhagenWing 38 Report post Posted March 9, 2008 Don't forget that while Hudler is only in his 2nd NHL season he had several seasons in the AHL to get accustomed to smaller rinks and the North American style of hockey. Datsyuk came directly from Russia.

Datsyuk came directly from Russia. Of course. And I'm not saying Hudler is half as good as Datsyuk! I just get sick of the bulls*** people spew about him when we haven't got a viable alternative to Hudler and the kid's still got s***-loads of untapped potential. Plus, Val had an identical slump to this earlier in the year- his first half was horrible while Hudler had a hot period from mid november to the end of january.
