seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted March 30, 2008 Thanks, you just made my point for me. Clearly you don't know what you're talking about. I would be JUST as pumped for Ozzie getting the shutout. No matter what, it's impressive to get a SO in the NHL. Sure, the preds didn't light things up by any means. But the few chances they did get, Dom was right there to shut them down. So you can go ahead and abandon that little "bias for Dom" theory. Cause like I said, I'm always just as stoked when Ozzie does it. It just happens to be my opinion that Dom is the better netminder for us during the post season. How many times do I have to say that you're not right just because you say you are. This time I'm not going to stick around and try to hammer the point home though. I knew someone would get a kick out of it! Haha, I also knew it would start this argument again. Have a good night, LGWers.
Guest crazy8legs Report post Posted March 30, 2008 Technically? Like there's some rule book on this??? He wasn't tested early, but made the big saves when called upon. I'm completely happy with his performance, and I'm not gonna argue with a Hasek slappy. chill out man!!
55fan 5,133 Report post Posted March 30, 2008 Great job by both goalies. Glad Dom held on for the W. (Not liking Ellis, mind you, just giving credit where it is due.) So I didn't see the game, just listened to it, but it sounded like some of our big stars were out there less on 5 on 5's. Is this correct, or is that a false conclusion from the audio? It sounded to me like Huds and Kopy were stepping it up from how they were earlier on, and like Flip and Cleary are back in fine form. Yay for the W! Go Dom! Go Johan! haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted March 30, 2008 Damn, I wish Franzen would be a staple on the top line with Dn'Z. I mean I love Holmer and all(always have) but quite frankly, I think i'm starting to prefer Franzen out there. I mean for quite a while up untill Holmer got injured, I thought he was playing terrible(sloppy passes, terrible skating, not such good hands) and now I watch Johan out there and he is the exact opposite of that. Right now, the guy is playing like a fine tuned machine, I love it. I saw a post the other day(maybe yesterday) that said something in the effect of Holmer has better skating and hands, etc. Honestly, I think if you took Holmstrom off his jersey, no one would think that anymore. Anyhow, awesome game Dom I was hopin' to see some points out of Pavs, but to no avail, oh well he can't get 'em every game. Oh and it seems things are changin. With our luck since the allstar game, that breakaway toward the end there would of been a goal everytime and just shatter everyone's hopes of a win, but no way, not today, Dom set his foot down(though he didn't really have to do much on it) but it just seems those ones have ben tricklin in for some time now. It was great to see how patient he was on that breakaway. Thats a goaltender playing with confidence.
adtthosa 5 Report post Posted March 30, 2008 Nice win. It wasn't an easy one but it's not gonna be easy in the playoffs either, so we gotta get used to these games. Hasek was great, and if there was any doubt over whether he would be in good enough form to start the playoffs, it's been laid to rest. Ellis was great too. And what else can be said about Franzen? I've always been a big fan of his and I love how he is stepping up his game. The man is unstoppable right now. I think I might be alone on this, but I would rather face Vancouver than Nashville in the first round. Even before this game, something about Nashville made me nervous. They seem like a team that would be capable of a first round upset. I just don't see that in Vancouver.

I see your point and I agree 100% with you... but I think that if Homer isn't playing with D-Z he's not going to be effective at all (beside PPT) Franzen with Cleary and Flip could be fun to watch... puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted March 30, 2008 Yeah. I know. It blows me away how people sometimes act over the internet, when I couldnt imagine them being so blunt or rude in person. you have NO idea... I just caught the last 2 minutes of regulation and the OT. Guess I saw the best part of the game, eh? What was going on with Pavel today? No SOG? Was he passing the puck or just a bit off? Concerned over nothing here, right?
Yzermania 156 Report post Posted March 30, 2008 Amazing on how even after a WIN, the post game turns into a goalie war. Only on LGW Yah, I'll never understand the goalie war. I've been a wings fan since I was 7 and have always rooted for whatever goalie is in net at the time and will continue to do so. Though, my prefference going into the playoffs(as long s he is healthy and injury free) is Dom, it's nothing against Ozz, I'm just slightly more comofrtable with the Dominator between the pipes. Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted March 30, 2008 Keeping the game tied 0-0 until OT is pretty much the definition of "stealing a game" (especially with that breakaway). If the preds won then Ellis would have stolen the game. That's a pretty black and white call.

Totally agree. I was just talking about that with my buddy yesterday. I suggested splitting up DZH, so that Homer could play with one of them, and Franzen with the other. We all know that Homer isn't gonna make a whole hell of lot happen out there on his own, like Hank, Dats, and like Flip does on occasion. Homer is just a perfect complementary player when put on a line with a star or two, because he causes fits for a goalie and makes it more likely for every shot to find the back of the net. Also, I agree with someone who posted yesterday that Homer is best played on a line with Lidstrom on the back end. Franzen has the hands and the legs to make things happen a bit better than Homer, but I would still like to maybe see him stay with Hank, or Dats actually, either way. To be honest, I'm pretty happy with our top 6 right now. Whether we go ZDH - Cleary Flip Franzen, or something like Cleary Dats Homer - Zetterberg Flip Franzen, anything like that, we've got options, and I'm gettin pumped for the playoffs. If so that's awesome, he's hillarious. Haha, I remember reading that in the Freep; I think it was from either his rookie or sophomore year. It was just after an interview, and they said he slyly put his hand out and was like, "All done? 5 bucks." See, that is the one things that concerns me. It is how Edmonto got us a few years back. Even though we peppered them with like 40 shots a game, they clogged everything up so that we could get so little momentum. We really Need a system to break it when teams attempt to trap us.
