kylee 727 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 (edited) well everybody, this thread is a day early but i cant hold this back any longer. let me get this straight: the San Jose Shark fans seem to be afraid of this match up. They wanted the Avs. in this series, the first two games are back to backs, and i personally think the Flames can match up well against the Sharks. now im not gonna come out and call an upset, BUT, i can see this one getting very interesting, and if the Wings dont dive bomb, could be taken greatly to their advantage. Game is on at 10:00 PM. ill certainly be watching this series with much interest. go flames? i guess! Edited April 8, 2008 by kylee
redwings56 1 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 for SURE! go flames. My only concern is if they get momentum and Kiper plays out of his mind. But Datsyuk tore them apart this year. Much rather play them than Anahiem, BUT GO COLORADO TOO

HkyTwn 5 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 This is going to be a very interesting series. I'm going to be pulling for the Flames as well!
Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 This is the team SJ least wanted to face in the first round (much like it was the team Detroit least wanted to face in the first round last year). Going out to Western Canada is always iffy in the playoffs, and if Kipper plays well the Flames are gonna give the Sharks trouble. And when you do beat the Flames, Igoonla & Co. start cheapshotting away at the end of the game (sorry...it's called 'sending a message' in Flames parlance). Better them than us this time. You two play nice now, you hear!
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 If Calgary was such a good team, they would have finished higher than 7th. They've lost in the first round of the playoffs 2 straight years, and I see it being 3 straight years. People still think of them as being playoff tested because they made the finals in 2004. That was yesterday's news, and the fascination with them needs to stop.

arnoldbuck 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 I truly think this has the potential to be a wicked series. The are both solid, physcial teams. I want to see a war outta these two.
WingMachine91 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 i think the dream scenario would be for them to beat each other up in seven games however, i want the sharks to win. annd if the ducks win, we get to play the avs in the second round which should be great. but what will be even greater is a sharks ducks second round matchup. so the sharks and flames can kill each other. and after all that, it will be round 2 with the ducks and the same version of the flames, only better. i personally see the flames, sharks and ducks as the same teams only slightly different in their play. if they can all play each other, that would be amazing, and very good for the wings. Definately, having ANaheim and the SHarks beat each other up would be best. THey could tire each other out, maybe a few key injuries (or more likely: a well-timed Pronger suspension). Third Man In 2,091 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 (edited) We need the flams to lose and the avs to win so it could be san jose vs ducks Really, the Wings just need one of Dallas, Colorado, or Calgary to win. Otherwise, their "reward" for finishing first in the conference is to have to go through Anaheim and SJ again. But whatever happens, I don't expect the Sharks (or the Ducks) to have the first round cakewalk they had last year. YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 These teams match up well. Great goaltenders lead by top forwards, questionable scoring depth, unknown defense outside of their respective big guns (Campbell, Phaneuf). This could get interesting...
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 (edited) Sharks will win I think, but not the wild. Go avs. (wait whaa...?) Edited April 9, 2008 by Z and D for the C
hallelujahlogic 1 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 i'm confident that we can beat whomever we end up facing, so i don't really care who wins the series. i'm gonna watch though because both teams are skilled and make for exciting television.

akustyk 84 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 I'm not gonna go that low to root for a team that has no scoring depth, tends to goon it up as soon (or sooner) as it sees it's being spanked, including it's very captain. or which has guys who punch other team's players after getting hit at the boards. seriously, not in hell. though, I'd certainly be glad if they were assholes in this series and properly manhandled Sharks. I'd rather not play these goons again should the Wings advance to Round 2 but if they add woes to Sharks and do something towards their further elimination... I'm definitely all for that. if anything I'll be cheering any bloodbath by this teams and welcome any injuries. not to with this to any particular players but whatever makes whichever of those two squads weaker is welcome by me. unfortunately one has to advance and I'd rather point to Sharks who at least have some skill other than in captain and goalie (I don't count overhyped defensemen who disappear in playoffs other than some casual bodychecks).
