Jwo 7 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 Im going to suggest a few football (soccer) chants but altered for the wings... "Oh when the wings (oh when the wings) go marching in (go marching in) oh when the wings go marching in I wanna be in that number oh when the wings go marching in" "Theres only one Mike Babcock Only one Mike Babcock We're walking along, singing a song Walking in a Babcock wonderland" "Come on Red Wings! Come on Red Wings!" *note: not to the same tune as lets go red wings* < thats a chant which has alot of energy "Pavel Datsyuk is a wing, is a wing, is a wing Pavel Datsyuk is a wing, he hates colerado" "Detroit Red Wings Red White Army" Not exactly hard songs, but a bit of atmosphere really helps players perform. It also makes the going experience better. Whenever I watch games at the Joe I always wonder why noone sings...maybe Im just too much of a football (soccer) fan. I posted this on the Detroit Red Wings Message board http://hockeytownforum.detroitredwings.com...hp?showtopic=

BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 I'm all for chants. The Joe doesn't have enough of them, and I agree, it's because it's a pricier ticket and an older crowd. If you sell cheap seats, you can get a rowdy bunch. The Pistons did this in 2004 when they won the title. The Palace was as loud as an arena gets then. It's not quite the same now, because the wine and cheese crowd has crept in and taken over. I try to make noise when I'm there and do my part. Don't want it to sound like it did in Minnesota tonight. topshelf14 1 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 I agree! Everytime same ol' boring chant, "Let's Go Red Wings!" Let's change it up a little and get a "GO WINGS GO!" chant, or something a little different. I won't be down there tomorrow night, but I will be listening for it, drink your Monster and get some energy boys!

OsGOD 3 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 (edited) With so many Euros on the team I say the crowd @ the Joe should set tires on fire, & start rioting I am so on that... watch the news tomorrow!!! You f*cking losers. All you need is: LET'S GO RED WINGS!!! *CLAP CLAP, CLAPCLAPCLAP* And if you sorry f*cks do it right, the TV will pick it up. Stop ******* up. Sell out, cheer, get on TV. Signed, Zion Hollywood guy p.s. thanks for your candid lack of support.... as you are surely the leader of this chant... expect the total failure to fall on you because you weren't even in attendance to join in. hallelujahlogic 1 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 (edited) I think that the PA at the Joe messes up most of the good chanting. I've been to almost all the playoff games at the Joe for at least the last sixteen years. Nothing screws up an awesome chant more that the PA system at the Joe. The guy behind the PA has absolutely no sense of timing when it comes to this. Just because his job is to make noise does't mean he has to do it from the time you walk in the door until you leave. The PA is so predictable I can't stand it. Can you imagine what you could do if given the chance at running the PA at the Joe? That guy would be out of a job the next day. I remember one time the crowd was shouting at the Wings "Shoot the puck!" so loud during a powerplay I thougt the roof was going to cave in. Next thing I know, Brett Hull scores a goal. GO WINGS!!! budd lynch?! come on, man. the guy's been doing it for like 100 years (and i'm not exaggerating by much!) and the lack of enthusiasm from the crowd hasn't really been a big deal until post-lockout. sorry dude, but i have to respectfully disagree w/you on this one. Superman54 91 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 I remember game 2, round 1, in 2002, when wings were on the power play and the Joe started to chant "Shoot The Puck", not long after Lids slaps one past Cloutier.....Beautiful! I don't care what chant I here as long as the Joe is loud!!!
alowicious 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 Well, if I'm being honest, I don't want The Joe to turn into Nashville or San Jose or wherever else. When you watch a game in Detroit, there's an appreciation for it. There isn't a need to entertain everybody with inane and obnoxious chants, and I like it that way. Could the place be a little bit louder and more enthusiastic? Sure. But give me a respectful, knowledgable crowd over a rambunctious, immature crowd any day. Just my two cents. I have to agree with you on that one, RWF. I am all for a Let's Go Wings, or Go Wings! or what have you, but the thing I always thought that JLA did best was positiive chants toward our team. I think that chanting "(Team Name) Sucks!" is pretty low class and negative. However, if a player takes a cheapshot on one of our guys, Low Class works just fine . Nashille's "De-Troit Sucks" is usually pretty irritating when watching the games on TV...I wouldn't be opposed to the JLA crowd sending them a nice "Go home pred-necks" wink.gif Lol, ok, maybe I wouldn't be opposed to that one. The Noodle 39 14 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 Why is it that our fans, the ones raised and dedicated to hockeytown... have such a hard time coming up and making some noise at the Joe? I went to Nashville a few weeks ago, and it left me in awe... it reminded me of going to a CCHA game, but still... it made me say one thing. Our fans are unmotivated. Chants... is this best we can do "Lets Go Red Wings"? Honestly.. that is the ONLY freaking thing I've ever heard there in the past 5 years. Remember back in the late 90's.... we at least had the "Go Red..... Go White" chant going? Yes, the arena gets motivated when the powerplay music happens... but other than that... sometimes you can hear a pin drop at the Joe. I'd love to see a section dedicated at the JLA for the true "Wing Nuts" who are rowdy, loud, obnoxious... anything. You go to a U of M hockey game... a MSU Hockey game... and you see what fans can do for the game... but here at the Joe where we've had the #1 team for the past umpteen years... and we can't put anything together? I had some fun at the last game and screamed out, "Somebody hit somebody" (Ferris State Chant) and was lucky enough to have some people that had a clue about what I was doing a few rows over... Someone going to tomorrow nights game want to start some real chants? Not all fans of the game are the same. Yes i know what you mean but some fans are more reserved and like to apreciate the game and just sit there and enjoy what is going on. You take for example the Wrestling fans in Japan. They put on some of the best matches there ever and the fans are calm and respectful and will only clap if something really cool happened like a certain move or submission hold. There educated fans who have seen it all and don't tweak out over everything and spill beer everywhere and cuss. Or scream and get in the way of other people's sight of the spectacle. When we score i go yesssss or yaaaaaa!! Or when an awesome save happens i will get a bit eccentric but other than that i sit back and apreciate what I'm seeing and am taking in the awesome scenery and everything when i went to the few games i was at. Not everybody is the same and also remember there are children and older people in the audience who most likely dont wanna war zone or overly loud and annoying people yelling and screaming next to them. Kcjacoby 10 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 (edited) See, being from Ferris State, we were told that FSN wouldn't broadcast a game from our arena because of the fact that our crowd was so vulgar... Such as... *ahem* 1,2,3,4.... Ellis's Mother is a *hore... 5,6,7,8 Ellis likes to masturbate East, West, North, South... Ellis likes it in the mouth! Who, Where, When, What? Ellis likes is up the butt! --------------------------- Somebody hit somebody!!!! Crowd: ANYBODY!!! --------------------------- And even the idea of the one minute rush... if theres one minute left in the period... everyone stands up and starts clapping slowly... and then progressively get faster...
