I don't know for a fact, but I think he has to prove himself in training camp next year to make it to the Wings. Otherwise he will be with GR.

as good as he looked, i jsut dont see a place for him, especially because it looks like helm will be on the rostor next year and with out depth, it looks like its GR for him

I think he will spend the year with G.R. He will have to get use to the longer season and making the jump to the pro level. I do think that if we have injuries he will get called up.

No grinding? Abdelkader is the next Maltby and Helm is the next Draper. I dont think theres gonna be space for both next year, but you never know. I expect Drake to retire, especially if we win a cup and you never know about McCarty. I could see him replacing Downey as the 13th forward if he sticks around.

Either way, I think its safe to say that we'll have no use for guys like Ellis and Hartigan next year, with Abdelkader and Helm hanging around.

I would love to see one of Abdelkader or Helm replace Drake, personally. I think a Abdelkader/Helm-Draper-Maltby line would be great.

It's possible but I couldn't see the Wings bringing him up with Helm and letting Downey, DMac, and Drake go leave when they can still contribute and play for cheap.

I think if Helm continues to do well in the playoffs, trading Sammy and Kopecky to make space for the younger guys couldnt hurt. Abdelkader has pretty good size right? So that more then makes up for Kopecky, and Helm has the potential to be at the very least, as good as Samuelson.

However, he might need a small stint in GR to get some more experience.

Ellis played for LA. The point is that if we had Abdelkader to call up - a legit rookie prospect - we wouldnt need GUYS LIKE Ellis in the system. Aka underachieving career AHLers..

he'll have to have a good training camp, i hope he does though cuase i have liked what i;ve seen.

you never know if holland will pickup another forward this summer though. the FA market should be interesting. I would love to see sammy move on (though i must say he has been playing hard lately, though his puck handling as always leaves something to be desired).

Of course thats what I meant!

Helm and Abdelkader are young, and have potential to be good 2nd or 3rd line players. I havent missed Kopecky one bit. Just like last year, didnt do a lot of anything, got hurt and had no impact in the playoffs. Helm and Abdelkader did have impacts in the games they played in.
