Is Joel Quenneville an Idiot?

After the game was over last night, I realized just how fortunate we are to have a coach like Quenneville in the Western Conference, so we can always coast through his teams in the regular season and playoffs.

He's showed us again why he cannot succeed in the playoffs as a head coach, because he has absolutely no clue what he's doing. Theodore got pulled for the first 2 games, and Budaj came in and played solid. Any other coach would have started Budaj for game 3, but instead he starts Theodore, who looked bad again, by giving up a horrendous rebound on Datsyuk's 2nd goal and was unable to read two backdoor passes that led to goals. He also should have stopped the Franzen goal.

Yeah, I know he got them past the Wild, but unless he's Marty Brodeur, he should not have had immunity from the coach for the way he played the first 2 games. Quenneville should be fired for his decisions in this series, but secretly I hope he stays so that we can play them again next year, and have another bye in the playoffs.

I have said this before, Suckalanche hiring Q was one of the best things happening for us Wings fans in recent times. I hope he stays their for as long as possible.

STL 1996-97 4th in Central Lost in First Round

STL 1997-98 3rd in Central Lost in Second Round

STL 1998-99 2nd in Central Lost in Second Round

STL 1999-00 1st in Central Lost in First Round

STL 2001-02 2nd in Central Lost in Second Round

I don't think Q is an idiot. Next to Bob Hartley, he's a freakin' genius. :hehe:

I applaud Q's loyalty to his #1 goalie. I appreciate his decision to play Theo, when clearly the better option, and maybe a spark for the Avs, would have been to play Budaj. So I am glad he put Theo back in.

I also loved that he let Forsberg play last night. So effective. Not. I got a good laugh out of watching Petey fall down every shift. I think he provided just the right amount of distraction for his team mates, to make them totally vulnerable to the Red Wings' already amazing play.

Wings are such a pretty team to watch when they bring their "A" game. :)

Theo for Game 4!!! Who's with me?? :D

This guy has never won a playoff series against the Wings...... That has to make him lose sleep or something... God what I would not give to be this guy's shrink.... Imagine the amount of money one would make....

Just thought i mention, that was no rebound. Datsyuk stopped it and pulled it around him.

I am also a believer that was a pass from Ralf not a shot!

Honestly, I can't really blame him for starting Theodore in game 3, even though a part of me was cheering for that decision inside.

Think about it and tell me if this makes any sense or if I need to lay off the mushrooms...

Of course Theodore didn't play his best in the first two games, however he still does have some experience in the postseason, even though it isn't much. And he was the guy the Avalanche went with down the stretch run, and he did his job in helping get them to the playoffs.

You have Budaj, who while playing great in mop-up duty without much pressure the first two games, had no playoff experience and who didn't really see the Wings IMO when they were buzzing early the first two games, not having to deal with what Theodore did.

If Theodore was having any confidence issues, think of how it might have been even more uncertain if they started Budaj yesterday. There would be a good chance I think if this happened, any confidence problems Theodore might have had (assuming he had any) would have gone completely down the drain, and you have an unproven 'tender with almost zilch playoff experience, none as "the guy" at least.

It would've been just as much of a risk starting Budaj I think, hence me understanding Joe Q's decision.

That all being said though, the Wings have absolutely had his number since the St. Louis days.

And even with that being said, I do not want them letting off the gas pedal and giving Quenville and the Avalanche any more hope than necessary to get back in this series. Finish it tomorrow night.

Hmmm well the rumor here is that his job is safe. He'll get the easy out 'cause of all the injuries. But does anyone really think this guy is a playoff calibur coach? I don't.

He's a nice enough guy and an average coach. The fact that he allows that idiot Granato to be his assistant makes me lose all respect for him. Better for the Avs to move on with their core of younger players - but likely won't happen. Here's to owning coach Q for more seasons to come!!!

All I am going to say is look at what Montreal did, granted it didn't win them a game, but they gave up less than 4 goals a game with Halak. Maybe is sparks Price, or maybe Price is done this year, but you have to at least try the back up before you are in desperation mode. Before losing your third game in the series, especially the way Price ended the Boston series.

Same situation here, only difference is that Theodore wasn't exposed the round before.

But now his team is demoralized, they put in their best effort last game, scored first, scored 3 goals, and they still lose the game. Now if you pull the goalie, he has one shot to save the team.

Not saying they couldn't come back, but it is a huge hill to climb and Theo's teammates have to think he is good for another 4 goals.
