Is it just me or does the east look very slow, sloppy and plain crappy.

Watching this game the Rangers could not move, cycle or otherwise control the puck all game.

The Pens just basicly fire shots from everywhere hoping something would go in and they did mainly becasue the Rangers looked so slow and out of position all day.

The game was too choppy, sloppy and otherwise Junior A'ish for me.

What do you guys think.

I'm not impressed at all by Pittsburghs play. The only team that played above expectations in the East have been the Flyers and even they aren't really that good. Their PP rocks tho...

I'm of the opinion that the Rangers and Devils overachieved this year. Thanks in part to the southeast being so awful.

so far in these playoffs, i have felt like the west teams of Detroit, Dallas and San Jose were the strongest, but the Eastern games were faaar more entertaining to watch. Almost every series has been entertaining, from on ice to play, to the level of intensity in the stands.

I read a quote somewhere that I really liked, that I think applies well to the situation "The East is made up of good individuals, whereas the West is made up of good teams".

Thats why, like last year, I'm predicting the cup will be won by the champion of the Western Conference Finals, and also like last year, I don't think whoever comes from the East will even have much of a chance against the Western Conference Champion.

But maybe I'm just cocky.

the penguins are still pretty damn good as far as i'm concerned and will give the eventual WC champion a good run for their money.

however, they don't quite have the defense to take them the distance IMO. todays game attested to that. plenty of guys to put the puck away, but mental lapses on D cost the pens the lead.

i'm hoping the pens win the conference as it would be great for the game.

also hoping the stars lose tonight and win game 7 (or win tonight). either way their confidence has been rattled enough to the point that they wouldn't give the wings too much trouble.

If the Pens win the conference we are in for an onslaught of Canadian media types (which is the entire Hockey press) bowing down to worship Sydney. God, I'm getting sick to my stomach just thinking about it.

The Penguins and Flyers have not played a rock solid defense. Put them up the Wings and lets see how many goals are scored. Penguins are playing good, but they will have to play a lot better if they want to get past a Western Defensive team -- which the Red Wings were the best in the NHL this season for defense. Dont get me wrong it wont be a walk in the park for the Western team, but the East will have to find a way to overcome that defensive road block.

I think the Penguins are a scary team. Just watch their powerplay and all the talent on it. They can score goals almost at will. Yeah, their defense isn't as good, but anytime a team is that hungry and that young and that skilled, they're a force to be reckoned with.

TBH, if the Pens get to the finals and win the Cup, it will be with the help of Gary's NHL.

As long as there are teams that can potentially kick Pittsburgh out on its ass I'll retain interest in the East. If that horse-faced diver gets his name etched on a Cup it'll be the final, confirming piece of evidence that Stanley Cups are all but handed out by the NHL's front office. I'll bet they'll win it in overtime in Game 7 with Crosby scoring the game winning goal. Hey, exactly like the Winter Classic. What a ******* joke.

That's weird, because I'm the opposite. I watch the Eastern games and I get a little bored because it's just not as exciting to me. Wow, maybe it's me. I just watch the western games and I get really into all of them, Wings or not.

I appreciate both conferences. The stars, scoring and fickleness of leads in the East makes for exciting hockey. However, the quality of hockey displays by most Western Conference teams I find enjoyable to watch.

That being said, PIT/PHI could be the best series we've seen in a while. They're gonna pound each other and it will be high scoring I'm sure.

Whoever thinks the East series are more entertaining haven't watched the West enough. These last two Dallas/SJ games have been insane.

That's too funny that this thread was made today. Earlier when my Dad and I were watching the Pens/Rangers game we said the exact same things. I kept saying wow they are SO sloppy and can't set up the PP for crap. I then went on to say that if the Wings did make it to the SCF that I would be more than happy to face any team in the East.

Quite honestly the Eastern Conference bores the hell outta me. No series thus far in the East has excited me at all.

Just think: if the Wings played in the East, we'd probably have the pleasure of watching the next Oilers/Islanders dynasty. Seriously.

The East is so bad. There is really no powerful team over there. Pittsburgh, as much as everyone loves them because they have young talent (and media endorsements), are so pathetically overrated. They are not that good. In the two games that the Rags actually showed up, they couldn't do anything. They were shut out and left in the cold during Game 4, and just barely squeaked by today. They are still a few years off from being as good as everyone thinks they are already (which, their not).

If the Wings get past whoever their next opponent is, it should be smooth sailings during the SCF. I'm not saying it'll be a sweep by any means, but the Wings should beat any team they face from there.
