10 Minute Misconduct 104 Report post Posted May 9, 2008 Did Franzen get slashed badly by Winchester? I strained to see him on the ice for the post game Chris Osgood head pats. I couldn't spot him. the wings site has his post game interview up he seems fine all smiley

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted May 9, 2008 Amen. I'm getting really fed up with the VS crew making so many excuses for x (x = detroit's current opponent). Then Eddie O (the most clueless prick in the broadcast booth) goes on random rants about how great x is. Versus really needs to revamp their network, because they produce very poor quality broadcasts - and a majority of it has to do with the poor talent of broadcasters they have. They really should push hard to get Gary Thorne and Bill Clement back together in the booth, and have Doc and somebody other than Eddie in the booth as another option. Gary Thorne had the best voice for hockey too. Emerick and Olyzck are just dolts.
McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted May 9, 2008 Gary Thorne had the best voice for hockey too. Emerick and Olyzck are just dolts. Amen to that; I think it would be better for Versus to cue up the NHL 2008 announcer. I'd rather have the stuttering from the game announcer than listen to Versus announcers
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted May 9, 2008 At least TSN gave the Wings some credit after the game. But I was watching the highlights on NHLnet. and that douchebag Bob Harwood asked Franzen if he felt the Wings got lucky because the Satrs were tired, did they play physical in the 3rd because they were afraid of what Dallas will bring next game. f***. It'll be nice to win this series and have those d-bag commentators STFU when Lidstrom is hoisting the Cup at Center Ice. I didn't see the interview you're citing. Did Mule just stand there and look at him? I love it when Johan does that to stupid interviewers, like, "Whenever you ask me something worth answering, I will answer you." sergei_is_still_a_wing 1 Report post Posted May 9, 2008 i dont know if the wings are that good or the other teams were playing suck but damn. we manhandled dallas. like really made them look stupid. of course i think were just that good... for a team that beat the reigning champs and the hottest team in hockey they sure looked like a bunch of peewees. maybe they are still recovering from sunday, but whatever the excuse will be they were dominated. amazing. 7th win in a row. ozzie undefeated in the playoffs. franzen with his TWELFTH GOAL. looking like a well oiled machine out there. keep it up fellas. hardcoretom21 71 Report post Posted May 9, 2008 NO! they CAN'T STILL be recovering from SUNDAY. I know I have never played an NHL game, let alone all the overtime periods they did, but come on, 3 full days since the San Jose series, that should've been enough
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted May 9, 2008 I couldn't watch the game, I had to listen to it on the radio, but let's not get cocky. They scored an even strength goal, right? We scored 3 (or was it four) on the powerplay. What happens if the refs don't call it so tightly next time? I have faith the Wings can keep dominating, but let's not get cocky. It's a potentially long series. And when we go to Dallas it'll be an entirely different situation, let's just hope we go in there up 2-0.

Dallas had power plays too, they couldn't capitalize, and we also score a full strength goal (Filp)

While we did score 3 of our 4 goals on the power play we controlled the game most of the time and that is a big part of the reason why they took penalties. We took it to them througout and that is why we got power plays and got goals off of them. If you take out the last 2 power plays (which were in the last minute of the game and didn't matter) we had 5 power plays and scored on 3 that is incredible and most games we should get at least 3 or 4 power plays - especially with the way we control the puck. It may be a long series but we greatly outplayed them tonight and the guys really deserve credit for the way that they played.
adtthosa 5 Report post Posted May 9, 2008 I had to work, but I was very pleased when TSN texted me the final score. I just saw the highlights, but it looks like getting traffic in front of Turco is a big key to beating him. Looks like Ozzy was sharp again. The argument that Dallas was tired from their last game is stupid. They're lucky they got as much rest as they did. If anything, it's their own fault for letting San Jose fight back to force that Game 6. Really looking forward to Saturday.

Graybeard 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2008 great game. Kinda worried that the game was even when five on five, but hell, cant stay outa the box forever. I think 5 on 5, the Stars match up with the Wings nicely, but our PP and PK owned them tonight. Have to disagree here. The Stars couldn't keep up with the Wings early when the Wings were playing hard. They spent their time chasing the Wings around, and that's how you end up with penalties. Late in the game their 5 on 5 looked better, but Detroit was protecting a lead more than they were trying to push. I hope their lack of discipline late in the 3rd carries over into game 2 so that we can punish them on the PP some more.
Must Kill 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2008 i loved every minute of this game, first off hats off to ozzie for another amazing playoff game. Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted May 9, 2008 Honestly, I don't like getting too far ahead of myself, but we are absolutely rolling along right now, and it will be very hard for us to be stopped. My confidence in the Wings winning the Cup increases by the day. I am very confident in this team. There's honestly nothing that appears to be able to stop us. They had the chance to eliminate San Jose twice and sat on it. They ended up allowing it to go to 4th overtime before they closed the books. The only thing preventing San Jose from forcing a Game #7 was Turco. The rest of their team does not seem to be playing with discipline or motivation - or at least they can't control it when the other team is.
