WingsForever 2 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 man. you guys are acting like calling a few extra penalties can make up for taking away a goal. are you serious? giving more chances does not equal taking away success. it's that simple to me. Horrible call that cannot be made-up for, unless he can call a goal when it doesn't go in. It should be reviewable. Plain and simple. The refs took some gas out of our collective tank. The wings still played hard only to have ANOTHER goal taken away. It's upsetting for a fan. Imagine how our Wings feel? Game five ends this.

Graybeard 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 For those of you whining about the referees and saying they lost the game for us, take a look in the mirror. All I've been hearing with the Stars losing the first three games is seeing Wings fans talk about "excuses" of the Stars being too tired, annoucers saying the same thing, etc. etc. You know what you all are using right now with the referees? An excuse! You all are a bunch of hypocrites. While the "interference" call itself was bogus, yes, I'm not so much annoyed that the referee got it wrong trying to make the right call in the heat of the moment, I'm more annoyed that something like that isn't reviewable to make the call right. But you know what? These referees also gave the Wings plenty of other chances to get back in the game. A few other PPs in the 2nd, and a 6-ON-3, I'll repeat..........a 6-ON-3 power play in which the Wings failed to score on. Blaming the referees is an absolute cop-out and lame excuse. What about Rafalski's bad penalty leading to the Stars PP goal? What about Cleary and Holmstrom hitting posts? What about Sameulsson and others not hustling and scrambling around leading to the Stars 3rd goal? Those aren't mistakes that should be attributed to the Wings losing? It's just the referees fault? Again, you all are displaying hypocrisy at a very high level. True to some extent. Yes the wings played at 75%, at best. But even at that they can pull of a win a good share of the time if they're not getting assraped by the officials at the same time. The no goal calls were just one part of the disaster they orchestrated. If no hustling was Sammy's only fault in that game things would have been better. Too many freakin turnovers from him at both blue lines. Why the hell didn't Babcock cut his ice time. The WCF is no damn time to be letting a skater "play through" their crappy performance. I say if he doesn't do something to redeem himself before the end of the playoffs he needs the boot.

Doggy 130 Report post Posted May 16, 2008 Really? Because the NHL rulebook is pretty clear on the subject. Yeah, on one instance of goalie interference, that is, where contact is made. When there is no contact made, as was the case with aforementioned, a penalty is up to the refs discretion. There's a reason goals are waved off without penalties issued all the time. Because refs know the rules and you don't. I'm not going to spend any more time trying to educate you on hockey. Just accept you were wrong.

Playing the referee lost the game excuse card out though all of a sudden because our team suffered this game doesn't make it legit or valid all of a sudden when we've given the opposing team so much s**t on the excuse card either. And I'm not trying to put this loss solely or even largely on Samuelsson's shoulders either, lord knows people act obnoxiously towards his case, was just using that specific instance of him as an example, as well as plenty of others which contributed to the Wings loss... Not solely or largely because of questionable officiating.... Edited May 16, 2008 by SouthernWingsFan
kim 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2008 I am not sure who I should be more mad at, the stupid ref who called that a no goal or the Wings for not showing up to play! Where's the energy we saw in games 1-3? These guys look like they are confused. And how the heck are we missing all these open net shots! PUT ME IN COACH! out with the idiot and off with his head, he doesnt use it anyway!!!

SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted May 16, 2008 (edited) Sorry, I'm not a conspiracy theorist and don't think referees have other "bad" intentions. EDIT: As Coach Babcock said the referee made a bad call, that's life. I am very confident he meant that all people make mistakes and floop up at times, like this referee did, nothing more and nothing less. It'd help if other people didn't try to read between the lines as well. Edited May 16, 2008 by SouthernWingsFan

LidsFan 68 Report post Posted May 25, 2008 I am tired of goals being called off because it is Holstrom infront of the net. You know that if it was one of the Pens standing infront of Osgood it would of counted. Is it too much to ask for the Refs to make fair calls?
