The Best of Samuelsson

I don't know if this was posted or not, but did anyone see the "Best of Samuelsson" Photo gallery on the Freep? Some of those just made me laugh beyond all belief. Here's the link for anyone who hasn't seen it. Just pay special attention to the look on his face on half of those. My favorite by far is #16 though.

I know people get annoyed by newbies who start a bunch of random threads without searching through the archives and merely replying to a thread which already exists. This was the only Samuelsson thread I could find so I hope no one will mind me discussing the player rather than the pictures.

I just watched game 6 against Dallas and Sammy was on for both even strength goals (Drapes? Drake??) and then in the next game got two goals. He potted another goal and a few assists in the Final.

My question is this, does Samuelsson make those around him better? He contributed to the depth scoring when it mattered most and was top five among Wings forwards in goals, assists, points, and +/-. Can we afford to let this guy go?

Personally, I appreciate the maturity, however essentially what you seem to be doing is sabotaging someone else's topic. In this case, although both topics concern Sammy; I think you would be safe starting a new topic. You would also probably get a better response that way. Besides, here at LGW, we're used to seeing up to five (5) posts on the exact same thing within the top twenty threads. Usually people don't start snapping until number three.

def. an underrated player. There really is no great reason why people hate him, there just always has to be one. Since he doesn't have Dats moves or fights like Downey then he gets a bad rap.

- Ruins the whole dynamics of the second PP unit by taking a soft wrister, getting a whistle 99% of the time... Kronwall, Hudler, Cleary, Franzen, Filppula, or whoever's out there all rotate the puck nicely on that unit, not so much Sammy.

- He doesn't have to stickhandle like Datsyuk, but his stick handling could use work.

- He has a noticable panic every time he gets the puck leading to poor decisions.

Those flaws would be dismissed if he was tough, but he isn't. I'm as happy as anyone that we won the cup, and couldn't ask for more. I just have to say, Samuelsson still sucks. Sorry.

Well sir, I just plain disagree. I think he is a good stick-handler and skates quite smoothly and competently with the puck. In fact many complain that he just cycles relentlessly, which implies good puck-control. When he, Hudler, and Filppula (or Franzen) get together they play some real good puck-possession hockey. Additionally he looked good in the defensive role with Drapes and Drake.

I was expecting a youtube link with some mean goals and hard shots. Best of Samuelsson.. maybe some of that jabbing and hugging could be in it also hmmm

Samuelsson does posess all the skill and he is a top athlete.. I think the problem is mental as he gets a bit stressed sometimes or takes some bad decisions.
