Nightfall 871 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Well, one positive from this game. Wings can play like crap most of the game and still nearly tie it. I think this quote says it all. Wings came out flat in the 1st and 2nd periods. Penguins capitalized on their chances, Wings didn't. That simple. You have to hand it to the Penguins for coming out so hungry. They had to in order to stay in the series. Game 4 on Saturday.
NHLrules? 32 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Well, Lilje and Stuart lost us this game. They kept on turning the puck over. Where was our hitting game tonight? No one was hardly finishing their checks. Don't they have to pay a price for gaining our zone? I hope Babcock gives the team hell. Yes they were bad, but the whole team looked like s*** for 2.5 periods. That should end the Referee bulls*** though.

Stuart was brutal, though. Worst game of the postseason for him.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Well, after my source telling me they meant to blow Game 4 in Dallas, I see no different here. I just cant believe with the way that they played in the first 15 minutes and then all through the third that we couldnt put this game away. We dominated 35 minutes of this game and came away with a loss after the Wings were skating with cement in their boots and were making stupid passes on purpose. It was a different team in the third. They couldve put this thing away if they wanted to. Looks like winning it all on home ice is what they wanted. I expect them to play a perfect game 4. sdogg1m 3 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 eh, fluery got lucky, we had another one disallowed, hall had a bit of luck, overall i think it was even most of the game but the wings turned it on in the 3rd id expect them to bounce back in game 4 We had another goal disallowed? When did that happen?
seeinred 1,488 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 No moral victories in the SCF guys. Agreed, but I'd amend that to say "or ever." Still, I believe the Wings will win game 4 and win the Cup.
adtthosa 5 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 What a great hockey game. If we continue to play this hard, we will win two more. If not for that bad giveaway by Stuart in the first, I think we win tonight.
Anomalously 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Wings need to score first next game. And can't let the Penguins control after they score. This game tells me Franzen is going to be a bonafide elite power forward for awhile, even post-injury. Great goal by him.
CrossoverThrash 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Babcock should start pulling the goalie with 2 minutes to play. If decide to pull the goalie with 1 minute it takes him 10 seconds to get to the bench which only leaves 50 seconds left. Also, you never know if the opposing team will have the puck with 1 minute left to play. except the penguins will be all over trying to pad crosbitch's stats, he already has like 4 secondary assists on empty netters this playoffs
Xitium 272 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 i still cant believe how open sid was for the second goal It was a turnover. Again.

Nightfall 871 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Game 4 game plan: 1. Don't turn the puck over 2. Shoot the puck 3. Shoot the puck on net 4. Be there for rebounds Shoddy performance overall, but this is still the Wings' series to lose. You analysis was better than mine. QFT

puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Now we can skate with the Cup at home with this loss. Win game 4 on the road and close it out at home, a good outcome for us LETS GO RED WINGS!!! exactly. Wings need to close it out at the Joe. It's part of the plan. *I miss your Homer avatar. cirov19 1 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 No moral victories in the SCF guys. We had to win this game, and now we let them back into the series. Anything can happen now. Are you sure you don't want to start a forum about why we're even playing Game 4... seriously, we're leading. It's Pittsburgh. If we can come harder in Game 4 then we did tonight I will be happy to take the loss so I can go to Game 5 at the Joe.
RainingBlood 8 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 I have no idea what babcock was thinking, he had ample chances to pull osgood. s*** I would have pulled him when they had the powerplay with about 3:00 to go just to try and put pittsburgh on their heels. McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 If we fix our power play, we'll win the next game easily
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Turnovers were ridiculous. Wings need to be smarter with the puck. But every single series this year we have a game like this. I'm not too concerned. We came on strong, and with a fresh start we can beat them again. And then win at home. I'm disappointed, and it sucks that I'll miss most of the next game at work, but I hope we win. Still think this broadcast was the most disgusting display of narrow mindedness EVER, but whatever, right?
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 i still cant believe how open sid was for the second goal Was ridiculous wasn't it? If he didn't score the guy it would've been the guy right next to him. Shocking coverage. I'm pretty shattered because we had all the momentum for the final 10-15 minutes. We absolutely dominated them. We only played well for 20 minutes and it wasn't enough. If we had played like that the entire game the result would have been different. And two players that need to lift are Rafalski and Cleary.
Yak19 303 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 The pens won so the postgame will be on for 3 hours, LOL, i guess its only right since this is the only win they will get, we played bad the game was even, these bums had to play their little hearts out and to top it off the net taken off takes away yet another goal for us. When we did decide to play with 11 or so minutes left in the game, we carried the play and outshot the penguins.

redwings1914 18 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 The best thing to take out of this, the Penguins gave their 120% effort, had a lot of lucky bounces and still only won by 3-2. Now that we've all have a little time to calm down I hope the rest of us will realize it.

No one was hardly finishing their checks. Don't they have to pay a price for gaining our zone? I hope Babcock gives the team hell. Yeup, those two were the only ones who played terrible tonight. Everyone else was STELLAR. Pretty much everyone played like crap half the game. And we still had a chance to win, or at least tie. Pretty good, I think. Course, it would have been better had we actually shown up to play a full 60 tonight.
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Great game, not the result I was hoping for. I figured the Pens would win this one and they played a lot better. The Wings were sloppy with the puck and had less energy. But that's what happens on the road. The ice surface at the Mellon was not good tonight. The Pens played it safe near the end and that led to a lot of chances for the Wings.
