Memorial Cup breaks in two

Watching it live, you could clearly hear the captain say afterwards say something like: "Holy s***, that thing's old, eh?"

I think it was a replica cup, and the real one is in the HHOF. Still freaking hilarious.

Somewhere, Ashton Kutcher is on the phone with the NBA, hoping to get the chance pull this kind of s*** on Kobe.

 Ya it was on youtube 1 hour after it actually happened. I was laughing pretty hard, but if you look closely he didn't drop it, it snapped on him. Edited by Coolio Mendez

Fortunately, the Stanley is one big solid chunk of silver and not something with a weak joint between two separate weighted pieces like that.

XD The funniest thing about that for me was, after he stared at it, trying to put the damned thing back together .. priceless.

That was pretty entertaining. And they probably use a replica to skate around with like the NHL does with the Stanley Cup.

I am pretty sure that the NHL presents the REAL Stanley Cup at the end of the cup finals.

Yes, that is the real one. The replica is on display at the NHL hall of fame

that is what i thought. Whenever I have made the trip to the HHOF, I normally have taken the trip in the summer. Wouldnt you know it....I dont even get to see the real Stanley Cup. Oh well. Still worth the trip to anyone that hasnt been up there yet.

Oh it's incredible. I highly recommend the trip. You could spend a couple days in there. And bring lots of memory cards for your cameras :D

My mistake then, I was misinformed. I just now found this on Wiki.

There are actually three Stanley Cups: the original bowl, the authenticated Cup, and the replica at the Hall of Fame. The original bowl purchased by Lord Stanley is currently displayed at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Ontario.

The authenticated version or "Presentation Cup" was created in 1963 by Montreal silversmith Carl Petersen. It is authenticated by the seal of the Hockey Hall of Fame on the bottom of the Cup, which can be seen when winning players lift the Cup over their heads, and it is the one currently awarded to the champions of the playoffs and used for promotions.[43] This version was made in secret, and its production was only revealed three years later.[48]

The replica trophy, called the Replica Cup, was created in 1993 by Montreal silversmith Louise St. Jacques to be used as a stand-in whenever the Presentation Cup is not available at the Hockey Hall of Fame.[48]

I love the HHOF - only been there once though - a few years ago for our honeymoon (yes, honeymoon included a trip the HHOF! LOL)

There was a lot of cool stuff and I have video of my husband doing the "play by play" with game tape. It's pretty funny. Great time!! And somewhere that every hockey fan must visit!

Wow, I wish my wife had let us go to the HHOF on our honeymoon! Instead we went to England but had a good time anyway.

This is a sad video, I can only imagine the disappointment of the players who won the thing, and their moment that they worked so hard for is ruined and forever tarnished in shame. I watched it twice just to get the effect, I won't watch it again.
