I see Gill and Orpik cross checkin Holmstrom and Franzen in the back of the head and no call. I then see two players driving to the net, and barley touchin the goalie, but yet the arm goes up.

We could've scored on one of those goal-mouth scrambles where they were calling goalie interference! What kind of let down would THAT have been? Then again, the NHL proved in 1999 that they don't have the balls to call back a Cup-winning goal.

Agreed. First thought that to came mind when I read the article.

Therrien whines and it works. I doubt the same effect will happen for Babcock. Bettman and the NHL would have to drop their love affair with the Pens and Crosby first.

For real...Gill's entire job this series is basically to chase Homer around the ice mugging him at every turn, and not just when they're in front of the net.

You know what I think would be great? I would love to see Fleury try to get a call by embellishing some small contact (or even no contact) but the refs not make the call and the Wings put in the game winner because he was trying to get a call....wouldn't it be great?? (It'd almost be as great as Roy's statue of liberty move without the puck back in 02)

I'm pretty sure Iginla did that to Dom last season. Babcock wasn't pleased (with Dom) to say the very least.

I never question Babcock's desciscion making, but I was hoping he'd say something along those lines, so I'm glad he did.

Didn't scotty bowman complain alot more back in the days? but maybe the rules have changed and you will get fined if you say something bad about the calls or something? The coaches these days seem so "politically correct" with the exception of Therrien of the pitts.

Everyone on here said it wouldn't happen, but it just did. What else is there to say.

When Therrien does it he is a "whiny b....." When Babcock does it he is "the man" and is "fired up."

Whining is whining.

Babcock is a great coach, but put him in an even more desperate situation like being held scoreless and down 2-0 in the biggest series series of your career, and he'd most probably down the same exact thing as Therrien considering that he's whining about a 3 OT game that his team had tons of chances to win and could not convert on them, and his team is up 3-2 in the series still. But he still sees the need to complain.

Now lets play some hockey.
