imisssergei 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 Grads to the boys first of all. Now on to business. I think this is the sweetest crow I've ever had to eat, and I'd do it all over again. All season long I said the Wings weren't good enough to win the Cup. That they didn't have enough scoring depth, and beyond the big 3 dmen, there wasn't much really there. The goaltending wasn't good enough to win the Cup. Well, I was wrong. However, no one saw the transformation of Franzen coming, and the addition of Stuart was the right fit on the team. So, once again, grads to the boys.

Manoir 70 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 I also doubted the team. I will never double guess Holland ever again.
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 I didn't think the NHL officials would actually make ridiculous calls to extend the series. I'm eating crow right now.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 This has been a great season again. Holland did everything right, he brought in the right mix of Euros and North Americans, he got us a couple tough guys, he got us the big 4 on defence, and of course Ozzie. I have to eat crow for ever doubting them, but I always cheered for them no matter what.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 I didn't think the NHL officials would actually make ridiculous calls to extend the series. I'm eating crow right now. No kidding. I was laughing at people and their conspiracy theories, but I was about ready to wear a tin foil hat after last game. then that call on Hudler tonight. wow. wingsrock34 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 I think everyone on this site should ATONE for their sins of doubting the wings players, managment, and well just everyone. LET'S GO!!!! The 2 things I was wrong about 1. I did not want Cleary back after his first year. 2. I did not think Franzen could be a reg. goal scorer. I felt pretty strong about that too. OK EVERYONE ELSE GO NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
#19forPresident! 1 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 I doubted Hudler, never openly on the boards, but to myself which is still enough. I said to myself, this guy doesn't have the size to earn his spot, and he's prooved me wrong, and I couldn't be happier. Way to go Huds!

gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 However, no one saw the transformation of Franzen coming, and the addition of Stuart was the right fit on the team. Search all those threads I posted in leading up to the trade deadline. Time and time again I said look for Franzen to come up huge down the stretch. BOOM! C-TownWing 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 I'll eat it for wanting to jump off a bridge after the last two game 5s. I guess I can admit it now that we won the Cup, but after the Dallas one, I was so pissed that we were choking away the series that I ran in the bathroom, declared "these things don't work worth a goddamn" and buzzed off my playoff beard. For that time in March when I was at The Drake's 1000th game and declared him completely useless. He was the opposite of that during this run. And for actually thinking Crosby was tremedously mature. Sorry, had to throw that in.

NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 I defended the reffing thinking there would be no conspiracy theories, but as BlueMonk and HS said....the call on Hudler, WOW.
ehorn3 2 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 I never trusted Ozzie in his early years, but this year has been a complete turn around. I have also been hard on Lils and Sammy, but both played solid during the run. Sammy was one of our top forwards in the finals. I really don't want to think about next year, just want to take the rest of the summer to enjoy this one. I wish I was in Hockeytown to celebrate, but I do enjoy celebrating in front of Blues fans
Opie 308 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 I was more upset with the non calls than the call on Hudler, from a different angle it may have looked like Huds had his stick around his waste. However the trip on Dats and the slash and chuck of Lilja's stick which led directly to the 2nd Pit goal. I don't believe in Conspiracy theories but I will say those were very bad non calls especially if you are going to call a ticky tack penalty on Huds! But I have been watching NBA basketball a lot so I am used to horrible officiating and actually think that some of them still subscribe to the Tim Donaghy (sp) school of officiating! wingsfan75 2 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 I have to agree with those who are calling out the refs. This series was officiated horribly and, it seemed, with a ton of bias toward extending the series.
Firehawk 305 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 No limo rides for Kronwall this summer, ok? Because he's our next Konstantinov, obviously.
Firehawk 305 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 Yeah, i don't dispute that that call on Hudler wasn't a penalty by this year's ticky tack penalty calls, but it wasn't a penalty in a stanley cup deciding game with less than 5 minutes to go. That's a call you make to set the tone of a game early in the first period. There's a difference. The fact that there were things 100 times worse let go than that says it all about the inconsistency, and the fact that, while I don't buy into the league wanting Crosby to win, but perhaps they told the refs to do their best to give every opportunity to the team that's down to tie up the game, for the better ratings. Wow, so I am not the only one who was yelling at the TV regarding the slash that knocked Lilja's stick out of his hands and into the upper bowl! Now, I will eat my crow. I did waver a little and was very upset with the team for blowing game 5. To be that close! Crow is not that bad, tastes like chicken!
