As I have said in every other Hossa thread; 100 points in the regular season, at least 30 in the post season. This year will be the first time he eclipses 50 goals in a season.

I just thought of this, The Yankees steal players by paying them way more than anyone else would, and that is why people hate their success.

The Red Wings get the best players to say sure I will take a 2-3 million dollar pay cut to come to Detroit!!!!

Umm, I just checked in the site and saw this, and all I can say is:

HOLY F@CKING SH$T!!!!!

I thought Hossa was one of those guys people would complain about Kenny not getting signed, much like they did Luongo.

Seriously. Jaw dropping.

I actually saw it at TSN before I saw it here.

This was how it went down.

"Lessee...aw crap, that's Hossa, means someone's signed him. Wonder who got...WHAT THE f***?! OH MY GOD!!!" *falls out of chair*

Holy hell that is amazing.

I never thought that he would take that much under market AND a one year deal to come here to play. s*** he wants the cup, and I think we will get it for him!

Downside is Somebody Ballsy gives flip 4.5 mill offer (feasable) he is gone.

What's great about this is that it shows Hossa likes the organization and wants to win more than money. He could've had a huge long term deal from numerous other teams and he came here for less and 1 year knowing he'll likely have to go through all this again next year now most likely. He'll work his ass off for us. Goooooooood times.

Also it adds a lot to the teams motivation to repeat. Everyone knows Hossa took a monstrous pay cut and that it is this one year. That means that Hossa will give it his all and that should excite everyone else and help to keep them all accountable knowing the sacrifice that Hossa already made.

You guys understand if the Wings get anything less than a cup this year (considering we have the most stacked team probably since the 2002 hall of fame team) I am seriously going to burn down my neighborhood. This team is too good to fail.

Hossa was commanding 8 million a season. He signs here for less and for only 1 year. He knows this will probably only be a 1 year situation, but he is coming into a situation where he will be challenging for a cup. The only difference is that Hasek is retired and I think Drake will retire too. What a incredible signing.

Since we won the cup with the same group last year, this year we should be able to do it again.

Anybody think this means that Pittsburgh will panic and drastically overpay for Sundin?

The Pens will go back to stinking again.

They already Lost Malone, Roberts, Hossa..and Orpik told them to go to hell as well. Holding onto to ruutu and Sydor aren't saving their ship.

The Devils look good and the lightning are back in the mix in the east. The pens and their whining coach are done. Rumor has it that Therrien is the reason their players want out.

My take is that Hossa got $7.4 million, which is $50,000 less than Lidstrom, so Lidstrom is still the highest paid player on the team and likely will be until he retires. It's possible that Zetterberg will surpass that, but unlikely.

TSN said that Hossa was told that $7.4M was the max because no one on the team would be paid more than Nick.

"The $7.4 million that Hossa will earn next season, is the most Detroit would pay anyone - even an unrestricted free agent. The Red Wings were insistent that no one earn more money than six-time Norris Trophy winner Nicklas Lidstrom."

This is incredible news. I never thought that the Wings had a chance to sign Hossa.

Wow, I hate to say repeat, but wow, do we have a great chance or what.

Go Stanley Cup Champion Wings!

A) HOLY CRAP THIS IS EPIC. :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:

B) Somebody asked about draft pick compensation for RFAs...

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=241735

If Flip will only sign for something crazygonutz to leave detroit, like 5.5 (realistically, if someone offered you that, wouldn't you take it? LoL) then the wings would get 2 first rounders 1 second and 1 third.

... What could the wings possibly do with those?!?!

bonified super star, i never though HOssa would sign a 1 year deal.. just because he is still young enough for teams to give him 6-7-8 year contract.. man he just really wants to win..

unbelievable.. i'm utterly speechless. He was the one free agent forward i figured we had no chance at. Mr. Holland, you've done it again.

Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Hossa

how about that for the best line in hockey??!?!?
