dude that's nuts that he got partially shut down by the 2 top defensive forwards in the game and the best defenseman for the past decade, only a point per game in the finals... what an underachiever :withstupid:

and taking hits to make a play... what an IMBECILE!!!!

GO SKACORE... I'm with you all the way buddy.

How many great players out there do you see making comments like Semin? Not many. Why? Because great players are great at doing what they do and let their game do the talking. Great players don't have to try to boost their own stock by taking shots at other players. And if you should not count the quality of a player by his stats then what should you base your opinion on? His hair? His shoe's maybe!? How about last name.... well then Semin is a loser there too! Crosby's numbers are what they are because of his play. He has won so many awards because of his play. He was made Captain because of his play. He's been a leader everywhere he has played, he has produced everywhere he has played and he has improved everywhere he has played.... and yes, he has accomplished all that and he is only 21! Semin comparing Crosby to Kane says it all. Kane is a great player but he will never ever be anywhere close to Crosby.

He's not a god. But he's already achieved more in three seasons than most players do in their career.

Perfectly said HS but you can't base a players worth by stats. What are stats anyway? Just numbers of how a player contributes to his team while on the ice! Why do they bother with stats anyway?

welll, Gordie.... I'm not in the Crosby bashing camp although I'm not big fan of him either.

IMHO the main point here is not the fact that it's him instead of Wings player but rather

that whenever you turn some NHL game on TV you're sure bet to see Crosby ad and

have great chance of hearing how great he is. yes, he's great but he's not that much better

than anyone else to justify number of other NHL prime stars being blatantly omitted. it's not

that Crosby is walking on the water and guys like Joe Thorton, Ovie or even Gino Malkin

are wuss.

I think theman19 gave prime example of what many users feel about Crosby. we would

just want not to be told Crosby's second coming of Jesus Christ every time we turn on TV's

or sopasts :) we'd instead gladly hear about Thorton's, Ovechkins or Lidstroms, too.

that's it basically

Honestly, the only commercial i've seen lately with Crosby is the one where he jumps out of the photograph and talks about losing in the Finals. That commercial is humbling more than anything. It doesn't talk about Sid's "greatness" or anything like that.

And for the record they have a commercial like that For Henrik Lundquist and for Dion Phaneuf.

I think, much like the "Crosby whines" that the "Crosby is overhyped" argument has really taken on a life of its own and there's less and less truth to it every day. I think people that aren't fans of his have breathed life into this thing and made it an issue when currently, right now, it isn't one. They're keeping this thing alive out of hatred or jealousy and IMO it's a waste of time.

Sid's being hyped just like Lebron James was hyped and Kobe before him. When there's a player that is so freaking good at such a young age, the advertisers are going to put their money into that person b/c that athlete is going to give them the best chance to lure kids into their stores to buy their s***.

I don't blame the NHL or any advertiser who is trying to grow the sport and make money. Should they showcase more players? Absolutely. Is it foolish not to? I don't know, i'm not an NHL accountant.

He is overrated because there are several players that are better than him yet he is time and itme agian considered the best player. YOu obviously are *** for crosby.

I don't care for Crosby at all, I hated him during the SC Finals.. but please, assume more about me.

Name the several players better than him, and I'll tell you why you're wrong (Even though it's already been pointed out in this thread), because I can only think of about 3 or 4 you could make a case for.

Man.. it's like you're ******* five.

It's subjective but Lidstrom, Lundquist, Iginla, Lecavillier, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, perhaps even his linemate Malkin or Ovechkin as well. And the one guy you cannot make an argue against is lidstrom. Regardless of that, he dosen't need to be singled out as the best player since its such a subjective argument that's my main point and the freaking canadian media are taking it upon themselves to worship this guy.

wow.. i have a bit man love for semin now :D totally ace.

That sounds weird, dude.

Crosby is awesome.

Crosby is not and may not ever be on the same level as Gretzky. Or Michael Jordan in the NBA. When those two guys played, it was not a question of who was the best. They were head and shoulders above ALL the rest of the players in their respective leagues. You cannot say the same thing about Crosby.

Its ok that Crosby is Sydney Crosby and not Wayne Gretzky. He can still be an awesome hockey player.

We Canadians take our hockey seriously and with pride... it's our national sport. For the Canadian media to be gloating over Crosby says how high we hold Crosby amongst the many many many great players we have to offer... and we have plenty to choose from.

All the hype surrounding him, whether liked or not, has some merit too. There is a need to promote the sport and make it more profitable... what does hockey rank in US sports? 4th maybe. If pumping Crosby generates more interest and revenue then why not. I'm sure wasn't Crosby's idea. Why would they choose Crosby if he weren't the real deal? Why are they promoting him so much? Because he produces and there are people just like us talking about him... seems their idea is working like a charm to me.... like it or not!

Don't forget that there were people that hated Gretzky for the same reasons they are hating Crosby. Same for Lemieux. And same for the next phenom i'm sure.

As for who ever is having man love for Semin (and its not me!)... that is wierd and maybe a topic better suited on another message board! Hahahah!

I'm not a real sports spectator anymore, the only thing I really watch is Red Wings hockey. Point being, I haven't been subjected to the same amount of Crysby hype as most of you, and likewise have not seen his highlights. I would like to see a Crysby highlight video simply based on the fact that I haven't seen much of him other than last years Cup Finals.

Also, I have a suspiscion that if he were on a team with great veteran leadership like the Wings, he would be able to be a "Young Gun" instead of a Great Canadian Hope of being the Next One, and he could just play and be great without quite so much hype and scrutiny.

But it is what it is.

He dosen't have that many highlights thats why. I also think if he was on a team like the wings who depend on tight team play he would get a lot less praise.

I was watching the Caps/Sens game on Rogers and apparently Ovechkin said that what Semin said wasn't translated correctly and he has great respect for Crosby and what was published doesn't reflect his true opinion of Sid.

Crosby is overrated, i would take him on my team any time, would I trade for him? No, because of the over hype it would take lids, datsyuk, and Z just to get him and those 3 players combined are 1000x better than just having crosby on your team.

I did read Semin's interview in russian and he didn't really say anything offensive agains Crosby. His whole point was that there are people (Kane) that are far more exciting to watch in the NHL, but everybody sort of stuck up with statistics. And I have to agree with him, I don't think Crosby isn't as exiting to watch as:

1. Ovie

2. Datsyuk

3. Zeta

4. Semin

5. Kovalev

6. Iginla

7. Kovalchuk

8. Lecavalier

etc.

Crosby's stats are impressive, no question about that, but not his game.

Here is a quote from Semin's interview:

it's been ages since I learned Russian at school so I'm not 100% through that but it looks

like the original version is pretty different in accent than it's translation. and to me it's

perfectly clear what Semin is talking about. and it's by far not a personal rant. not even

remotely refering to criticism except for the general idea of playing hockey and what is

it for the fans in US/Canada and what in Russia. which, even if Semin was speaking good

English, would not be possible to explain to Americans or Canadian people.
