which one of the 7 goals was a soft one would you say tonight? most of the time wings would completely fall apart around Osgood. i am not saying he was fantastic, but still... Fleury definately let in a soft one by Hudler, everything else were breakdowns by pens defense. maybe it was just one of those games...

None were soft, but some were definitely stoppable.

He went down too early on 2 of the goals, and he didn't appear to be screened on the Malkin goal. Likewise, he didn't play the OT goal properly.

Some people here will never criticize Ozzie no matter what. A game where the other team scores 7 is a good example of that.

I blame Anders Erikkson and Brent Gilchrist. Cheveldae was awful, as usual.

I would have to say Macoun was the worst with that stupid mustache... lol it had to be his fault...

can't argue this point. I guess in the end of the day if you are a starting a golie in nhl you should bail your team out on breakdowns here and there, that is the job... I am sure he is kicking himself in the ass right now with or without our criticism though...

No way, Jiri Slegr and Ladislav Kohn were as bad and even worse.

I would say doug brown was equally bad... even when fedorov would set him up with an empty net... :(

I don't think Ozzie played bad at all. If you look at the goals scored most were due to failure to clear the puck and bad bounces which no goaltender could stop. Defensive breakdowns in front of Ozzie lead to this. And I'm not sure why some people seem to be so shocked about this game, did you guys watch the Stanley Cup Finals?? The Pens are not a team to be taken lightly, they have such a strong offense that seems to thrive under pressure. The Wings did play a great game but too many mistakes towards the end of the game lead to this loss. We will get them on February 8th for sure. Could be worse guys, they could have been the Panthers...

Just got back from the game. The Wings were the far superior team all night until about the 6 minute mark of the 3rd period. Only problem is, they not only ceased being the better team, they turned into a Timbits squad. Brutal defensive breakdowns at the end. I hate to fault Osgood too much because the breakdowns were so bad, but 7 goals is too many.

The Wings had their foot on the Pens' necks but let up. It's been a patter this year, eh?

no need to apologize. it's your prerogative to be wrong.

no skin off my back. go back to your little stats and blaming goalies. it's so much easier than following a big scary fast paced hockey game.

You effing rock Snepsts!

I didn't see the game because I was at work...but the fact that Osgood outright stole the New Jersey game is not debatable. So those of you who want to send him packing because he faced a lot of chances where the defense didn't do much to help him tonight look at it this way...Osgood has played two games without seeing significant defensive help and has won three of a possible four points.

That's pretty good. Most goalies can't do that well regardless of the defense in front of them, let alone a defense playing poorly. Osgood has CONSISTENTLY done that well or close to it over his career, regardless of how well his defense is playing.

Here I sat watching in the third, seeing Hudler's slapper bounce up and in one more time. And from across the room a voice was heard to say, "This one's over. They're not gonna score three more in ten minutes." I admonished the voice; "no lead is safe!" I warned. Scoffing, he suggested we play Guitar Hero (seriously, my friends suck at watching the ******* game). In retrospect I wish we had, but the embarrassing meltdown certainly served to prove the point.

Watching the Wings hang on for dear life with the game well within reach for the Pens, running around in their own zone and getting beaten to every puck, with turnover after mental error compounding into goal after goal... Well, it's probably just what they needed. They've been playing fast and loose on D all season and it's about time they felt the consequences thereof. With all the hype leading up to this game, the Wings lost more than just a point with their loss -- I hope they seize the opportunity here to redouble their efforts and start playing the game like we know that they can.
