Well according to you nothing is ever wrong with this team, every player is amazing, nothing bad can ever be said about anyone.

Lose 15-0, "No worries, next game!". Lose 7-2, "Chillax people, bad game!". Same thing after every loss. We know this team is good and a regular season loss in the grand scheme of things doesn't matter much, but it's getting a bit concerning now how pathetic our defence is and it hasn't improved from the opening night. Major worries, Lidstrom looks as shaky as he ever has, Rafalski continues to make error after error, and the constant giveaways are deplorable. Something isn't working and it's more concerning than just "one game, move on".

Nonetheless that wouldn't be fence sitting. It would be being eternally optimistic. Fence sitting would be more like..."I'm just not sure yet if the Wings suck or not". She always believes they don't. I'll be on that bandwagon.

Personally, I believe the other extreme is just wanting to be the one to have said "I told you so" when the Wings finally do go into decline. Yeah, I do believe criticism is due for bad play, but it does tend to be excessive.

I'm not expecting shut outs either, I would just like to see them clamp down and hold a 3 goal lead in the third period. And I agree, that second call that made it 5 on 3 was a joke. But they have to kill those off. THATS WHAT CHAMPIONS DO.

Believe me I would have loved to see them beat pittsburgh. But maybe there was more riding on the game for the penguins than the redwings. Its a long season, they have only played 1 team in the central so far. They will be fine, Lidstrom is a great leader and if he wasnt after the game 5 heartbreaking ot loss in the finals the Redwings could have packed it in. But with a great captain comes great leadership, and Nick learned it from the best. Im sure Nick will have a lets get our s*** together speech in the locker room.

So a sellout means the place is packed, right?

Wrong. And it wasn't, empty seats were very visable.

I didn't say that. In the beginning of the game there were empty seats, sure. People are always late and ya know they do have to, like, use the restroom/get concessions and stuff. In the third there were no empty seats to be seen.

I'm wondering if the "Cup Hangover" that happens really is a fitness issue.

These guys play until May and are banged up, then you sure as hell know they weren't right back to training right after the Cup win.

Tonight especially, but a lot of times this seasons, the Wings look exhausted out there and are getting beat to pucks and pushed off pucks late in the game.

That's not true at all. Yes I am positive for the most part, but I don't think the team is perfect or that nothing is ever wrong. I just don't throw a freaking fit every time they lose. I know when the team is playing poor or when the defense needs to start getting their crap together, I'll admit when Ozzie isn't on his game etc.. I just don't go overboard and have an aneurysm over it because in my mind they'll get through it and I am not a fan of bashing a team I love so damn much.

This is one of the most sickening and disgusting regular season losses I can remember for so many reasons. First off, let me start by saying the officiating did not lose the game for the Red Wings. However, the NHL is absolutely a complete joke of a league. EVERY time the Red Wings get a decent lead this season, they immediately spend the rest of the game in the penalty box (usually 5-on-3's involved too). The two calls that gave Pittsburgh a two-man advantage were bulls***. Franzen didn't deserve a penalty whatsoever and Filppula's penalty could be called 1000 times in a game. If Filppula had been hooked in the same manner in that situation with the Red Wings leading 5-2, there is no way the refs make that call. If the Red Wings don't spend a full two minutes killing a 5-on-3, this game is an easy win. That was a huge momentum swing, especially considering the fourth goal was pretty much a result of being shorthanded. Staal's "backcheck" on Datsyuk that led to the winning goal was more of a hook than the s*** they called on Filppula earlier in the game. The situational officiating literally is blatant and a joke. No lead is safe because any lead is penalized with shorthanded situations galore. More scoring and close games isn't a theory - it's mandatory practice in the NHL.

Second, Babcock puzzles me so much at times. Did anyone notice that Samuelsson and Kopecky were on the ice TOGETHER with a one-goal lead and a minute left? I don't know what Babcock sees in Sammy defensively. Sammy was awful tonight and Babcock still overplays him at crucial times. Hudler was terrific tonight and never got on the ice late in the game. I haven't looked at the stats, but it seemed like Sammy played more than Hossa again. I'm honestly incredibly sick of Babcock's love for Samuelsson. I thought Babcock "played the best players." Evidently not or Hudler would be playing more than Sammy.

I was going to rant about the defense too, but what needs to be said? Blowing a three-goal lead at home in the third period says it all. Ozzie was really good too, which is a shame because his defense couldn't have been any worse. The Red Wings need to wake up defensively and quickly. Fifteen games isn't a defensive slump.

What a bad night.

beer and slugs

I don't think Lilja was the only problem out there tonight, do you?

I could name a few other players that played worse defensively, a few superstars to be exact..

Well that..... kinda sucked. Granted Staal is 6'4", 220 and uber-talented, but until we tighten up defensively this team shall be renamed the etroit Red Wings.

I'd like to think we did our best to attract the fans on VS though, to a... ya know, promote the great game of hockey.

Simple. If you watched the game and think Ozzy played poorly, you're a ******* moron.

And I'm not some Ozzy slappy. It would've been great if he made some huge saves, but those weren't soft goals.

Look where most of the goals were scored from. Right in the slot. Like it has been all season, the opponents are able to crash the net whenever they feel like it. Against Detroit, that real estate between the faceoff circles is extremely easy to come by.

Get over your stat fetish. Ozzy wasn't the reason Detroit lost. He played well enough to win.

um...sorry...no
