Funny.. i tuned in to the 3rd period hoping to See the Wings vs the Penguins.. but all I saw was the Penguins playing against a s***ty pathetic excuse for a defense that before this season, if i remember correctly, was supposed to be the best in the league.. that was absolutely by far the most pathetic effort i have seen by a team so far this year.. the Stanley Cup Champions cant hold off a downgraded Pittsburgh team even after they get a 5-2 lead?.. I think Im gonna go to bed and pretend that game never happened..

some of you ******* people think that the season is over. There is still 68 ******* games left in the regular season. So they lost, it was a tough loss too but dont think that this s*** wont happen. Its gonna happen but they need to bounce back on thursday

Bounce back? Bounce back to what? To the subpar defensive play they've been displaying all year? How about the Wings need to start playing complete games on Thursday, for the first time all season.

Could it be that Chris Chelios' presence has been the key to the Wings' defensive cohesion THIS ENTIRE TIME?! :scared:

It can make a difference, that's for sure. Still, my God... having a 5-2 lead in the 3rd, and losing? There needs to be something changed, and NOW. Lidstrom's just been off a bit, Lilja makes me cringe, and while Rafalski and Kronwall have both been playing decently, the team defensive play has been simply sad.

For those saying Osgood played bad..

No, he didn't.

If you realized how many shots in the third he faced, how many SCREENS were infront of him at all times, and how many seconds each player got to pick a corner on him, then you'd realize he was one of our best players tonight. I could score on Osgood with that many screens, shots taken and time allowed - WITH A GOLF CLUB

Again everyone, give Babs a chance to fix the problems we are seeing. One of the problem children didn't play tonight (Lebda) and while no one really sticks out as having cost the game, you win some, you lose some, but always as a team.

I think having Cheli back would be a good thing right now. He's a steady hand still. And I think we will see a different team next time on the ice, one more focused on the defensive end of things.

The system isn't the problem, it's being wholly aggressive throughout the entire game. That was the problem tonight.

Not making excuses, just actually watching the games.

I'm sick of people focusing on s*** for their fantasy teams and not bothering to watch hockey.

Sure I would've loved Ozzy to make more huge saves tonight, but in spite of his numbers, he did not play poorly.

If that's true, our defense is worse than I thought.

Fact is, he has played poorly this season, and giving up 5 goals after the 2nd period isn't going to dispel any doubts about him. All we needed was one extra save from him, and we never got it.

I realize that Zigomanis (whomever the hell he is) is apparently good on draws, but how did Drapes and Hank become chopped liver all of a sudden on faceoffs?

We couldn't win any big draws at all at the end of the game.

And what's the deal with Rafalski? He looked like he had a few beers before this game. No orientation or coordination whatsover from him. Too many pucks skipped by his stick.

Z was something like 70%, but then the Pens won all these key faceoffs towards the end of the game. I don't know what the hell happened.

Simple. If you watched the game and think Ozzy played poorly, you're a ******* moron.

And I'm not some Ozzy slappy. It would've been great if he made some huge saves, but those weren't soft goals.

Look where most of the goals were scored from. Right in the slot. Like it has been all season, the opponents are able to crash the net whenever they feel like it. Against Detroit, that real estate between the faceoff circles is extremely easy to come by.

Get over your stat fetish. Ozzy wasn't the reason Detroit lost. He played well enough to win.

Anyone who saw the game and understands hockey would have to agree with Harold on this one.

Ozzie played as good a game as one can imagine given how many goals he let in.

The defense let him out to dry.

That being said- he still shoulders 4.5% of the blame.

Also- Lidstrom has not looked like himself since he put that visor on.

You do Realise Hudler was our best player by far right? Go home, you dont contribute anything but negativity

Did he not get points i pp, and playing with zetterberg etc? staal's line versus our third line in equal strenths was horrible

After some thought, I'm looking at it this way:

Ya know how sometimes the Wings will get outplayed for a good portion of the game, flip a switch, then come out with the win? Tonight we're on the opposite end of that, and it sucks.

You all need to sit back, and calm the hell down. It's one freaking game. I understand that we had a pretty comfortable lead and should of won, but we didn't so suck it up and move the hell on. The constant bitching and bashing is so damn ridiculous. This isn't the first, nor will it be the last time the Wings have a big lead, fall back and lose like tonight. It happens. It sucks, but it happens. Calling out certain players and making them out to be trash is just so hilarious to me. One moment some of you are praising them and the next they 'suck' or need to be traded or whatever. It just really pisses me the hell off to see how the majority of Wings fans can be so fair weather. And it's not being a realist cause the mass of you on here are tearing the team to shreds when they just need to get their crap together and they'll be FINE.

Let's move onto the next game.

some of you ******* people think that the season is over.

No one's saying the season's over. No one's acting like the season's over. Just calling this game what it was: a farce.

I think the most frustrating part is that a lot of us, I'm sure, could see the outcome developing all the way back at 5-4. The Wings have a knack for choking and squandering big leads, and they really have to do something about it, because this kind of effort won't cut it in the postseason.

So, we all move on -- but we also hope Babs draws some blood in the locker room.

Definitely.

The Pens flipped a switch in the third period. Detroit looked lost.

Hey Wings, way to stand around and play prevent defence the last several minutes.

Wow. How do the Wings blow a 5-2 lead....and a later 6-4 lead?

Here is an idea, skate with the puck in the last 2 minutes, don't just dump it out and sit in the zone.

FRUSTRASTING!!

My mind is blown. Babcock's going to be headhunting in practice tomorrow. What an unbelievable game. I f***ing hate losing to Crosby and to do so like this? This just sucks. This is the hardest regular season loss I've felt in years for certain. I now hope to the heavens that we get to face them in the Finals again. It'd make for a great story especially with the Hossa angle and beating them would be even sweeter I think this year. I want to see Sid the biatch cry. But motherljksdfa I can't not swear but I obey rules sometimes, this team has some slop to clean up. I'm fine losing, but losing because we're completely sloppy on about 500,000 levels is just unacceptable.

Hmm. Well thanks for bringing back some painful memories, boys. Once that fifth goal went in I had a huge gut feeling they'd tie it up.

The Wings sure as s*** didn't deserve to win this game tonight, but I'm not so sure the Pens did either.

I honestly couldn't disagree more with this, we definitely deserved to win tonight. Pittsburgh played well for about 10 minutes, if that. Until we completely blew it this was our best game of the season.

The two players I'm most disappointed tonight are Datsyuk and Lidstrom. Lidstrom needs to get that elbow checked out or something. Those weak stick checks and clearing attempts are simply uncharacteristic.

I can maybe give you Lidstrom but Datsyuk was incredible tonight. The only error he made was unfortunately the one that cost us the game but up to that point I thought he was the best player on the ice for either team.

I couldn't wait to come on here after we lost. Looking forward to hearing Babcock's comments.

allowing 20 shots in the last 20 minutes of play didn't exactly help either.

this is a team loss, everybody gets some blame for that s***.

The Wings have become like a basketball team - no point in turning into the first 58 minutes of the game, because the game is dediced in the last two minutes.

Which is exactly what someone in the management better ******* beat out of every player, coach and ******* water boy.

Because that is not the Wings' identity.

Holy crap...glad I missed this (wasn't on tv here) but I saw it was like 5-2 like halfway through the third and I thought we had it in the bag and didn't really pay attention for the rest...then see THAT final score ... heartbreaking.

It's one freaking game.

I'd agree with you if the Wings played well in any of their previous games, but they haven't. Weird games happens over the course of the season, but this team hasn't looked good in ANY of the games they've played so far.

Our defense is bad. And not just the defenseman. The team defense is totally lacking.

Like I said, I would've loved for Ozzy to come up with the game stealing saves, but this loss wasn't his fault. He's maybe not quite at the level he was last season, but overall he's a good goaltender. He's not going to steal you a ton of games, but he's not gonna cost you games either.

To be honest though, I've never seen someone sit on the fence as much as you do. People have a right to be angry, we blew this game. Only one game sure but giving up 7 goals with so many pathetic turnovers and rubbish plays?

Amazing that 5-3 destroyed the team. I wonder how the game would have turned out without it. After that it felt like the wings were drained, and the pens were skating downhill. I don't think the pens earned that win with all the give aways we had, but Detroit did not to deserve to win with all those giveaways.
