Av's Slovak "Super Fan"

HOLY LORD!!!!

Did anyone happen to catch the interview that Bob Harwood did with the Av's self-proclaimed "Super Fan"?? Apparently this dude came from Slovakia and does so multiple times a season to watch the Av's play. He became obsessed with them simply because of thier uniforms. I was laughing so hard I nearly wet myself, not only because of his accent (not to make fun, but it almost seemed fake), but his undying love of the Av's and his ridiculous red hair.

After the 3rd time watching I realized that I wasn't the only one finding it absurdly entertaining.... one of the broadcast crew was laughing so hard (for quite a while after the fact) he was squeeking. You could tell that the play by play guy was doing his best to keep it together, but was struggling to hold back his laughter.

If I recall the interview took place in the 3rd. I tried for a youtube, but couldn't find anything. If anyone has this, cherish it and please post so that all can enjoy not only the interview itself but the timeless reaction by the broadcast crew.

I wanted to shoot that annoying reject wearing that Floppa jersey.

Why did they even bother interviewing that ******? Just because he's from another country? Totally pathetic watching that segment.

My thoughts exactly. They interrupted part of the game to interview some guy? I found it annoying.

I was rolling!

Definitely the highlight of the game. Also something you might of missed was the guy in the background signaling for them to sit down.

I saw a good looking girl who was wearing Av's jersey while walking on the concourse. They should have interviewed her.

Forgot about that guy. Although If I were him, I would have had a lot more to say given the situation.

And to all that have a bug up their a$$ regarding this post.... it WAS the highlight of the game! The way the Wings were playing had made me so angry to that point that I almost changed the channel, which I always threaten but never have the heart to do.

thread is useless without pictures or video.

hmmmm, I think I mentioned that I couldn't find video of it. If you would take the time to notice that I asked if anyone had video, maybe, just maybe, you would have not provided such a useless response.

Honestly it wasnt funny at all, whats funny/odd is why vs would even interview him

yes this is why its so stupid and funny and olzyck's reaction to it was really funny. the guy himself was a dumb ass and not that funny, but yes the circumstances were very funny:)

I think they were laughing at the wings fan in the background. The guy being interviewed was standing up infront of someone else and obsturucting the view, the guy in the back a wings fan was motioning to cut the interview and to get the guy to sit down shut up or move outa the way. Im sure his accent and hair didnt help.

Was funny stuff to me trying to understand it. I thought the dude was cool and a good sport trying to articulate share what he was saying. Whatever draws fans into the game for whatever team it is, I'm all for it.

I watched that entire interview and I almost spit an entire mouthful of Soda out when the guy says "yah, you can come stay at my house!!" (when the interviewer was inquiring about making a trip to Slovakia.

his accent totally sounded fake, and the interview was hilarious.

You have to respect his dedication though... that's a lot of long plane rides just to see some hockey games!

For the people giving the Slovak dude a lot of crap, let me pick your brains with a little curveball and see if I'm at all in the ballpark or if this is just totally irrelevant.

Yes the guy was goofy during the interview. Yes he was easy to poke fun at. I give the guy kudos though for getting the nerve and courage to talk on national television. I'd probably slur my words a bit myself if I was on TV or having an on-the-spot interview.

People in here have voiced their displeasure plenty of times in the past that the NHL isn't popular or that there aren't enough fans out there, more or less. Well? The goofy Slovak became a fan. His reasons seem a bit silly, yes, but bottom line is those silly reasons made him a pretty dedicated fan, and he likes being a fan of his team and hockey and the NHL. More power to him.

I became a fan of the Red Wings because they were "good" and I wasn't old enough to understand hockey back in the 80s (when they were struggling more often than not) when I was just a kid and due to being raised in the South and living here most of my life, does that make me silly or a bad bandwagoner because I joined them when they were getting better? Well, I rarely miss a game now either. Are my reasons for liking the Red Wings or hockey "silly"?

Certainly doesn't matter to me how people become fans. The more fans, the merrier.

I have to agree with you on this, Jack. Well put. :)

I know I said that I laughed at him, but he was a little on the wild side... but it's good to have the NHL be so far reaching.

IMO, he chose a good team... hehe... but you knew I was going to say that, right?
