Nope. Defense is even more lackadaisical than usual, offense not generating much, and apparently Conklin sucks for not scoring goals or defending against all 5 regular skaters on the ice as well as playing goalie.

The defense actually hasn't been that bad. Colorado hasn't had any good chances at even strength, but they do have a TON of jump and are making their powerplays count. 5 on 5 our defense is fine, but our offense is downright brutal.

I've almost forgotten the days when you could actually make an argument for Datsyuk and Zetterberg being comparable to Crosby and Malkin in offense.

Tool are a thousand times the musicians that Def Leppard are. I'm not even a Tool fan. Although the one-armed drummer gets props.

DEF LEPPARD SUCKS!....(a la joe dirt)

Maynard is a good reason alone, but I'm sure any bass fan (i.e. Geezer fan) would appreciate Chancellor's kick ass riffs. :beerbuddy:

The reason I point to defense is the last two goals. One was not pushing a player away from the net, instead putting a stick out and expecting that to do the job with an Avs player who has position, then the second by allowing a player to stand in front of the net and tip it, both of which not giving poor Conk any chance. I mean, I would blame the goalies if necessary, but not a single goal here is Conk's fault.

is the trap where they put 4 in the middle in their defensive zone? i told my dad, theyre gonna do that all night to us, put four in front and wait for a s***ty cross ice pass attempt, then proceed to lightly dump it out of the zone. s*** pisses me off!! they did it all game last time too.

can't reason why babs has tampered with the fwd lines. Surely it was just a case of Cheli in for Lids? 2nd and 3rd goals were caused by us not clearing the zone thou, any of our guys know how to lift the freeking puck!!! Two clearance's straight on an Avs stick. And to answer the guy about the Caps fans and how they came back from 4 zip to win.

WE HAVEN'T GOT OVECHKIN PLAYING FOR US !!

We'll do well to keep within 2 of the Avs, in fact i'd settle for a 4-2 loss at present, cause I fear the worst the way we are playing

I mean, it's hard to really say much about that period. Three questionable calls, three goals. And that was about it.

This is starting to look really bad, though. If this keeps up, we'll be 5 points up on Chicago, with the 'Hawks having three games in hand. We really needed to come out with a strong effort tonight, and to say that we've played exceptionally poorly, but there just wasn't the first period jump that was required.

I also think it's blatantly obvious how much we miss Lidstrom. If he's out for any significant amount of time, the Central Division will be officially up for grabs. Yikes.

Wow..what an ugly first period...I cant imagine how much lighter the bandwagon just got after that period with the amount of fair weather fans we have around here.

I think we need to stop using the term "fair weather." The Wings have been underperforming for several months now, and it looks like energy to bring on the comeback is dwindling by the day.

Yeah, I'd blame someone for skipping town after a week of bad weather, but with nearly 3 months of foreboding, I'm not sure I'd blame people now that the hurricane may be on the horizon.

You can come up with band-aid after band-aid after band-aid, but eventually you just need to make some changes.

thats more just a box...the trap really is more about how many people you put forward to counter the rush, forcing the team to dump it in...which makes it hard to make rushes develop into scoring chances...it really frustrates a team like detroit, cuz our forwards arent the most physical, so we dont necessarily hunt down d-men after the dump, and we rely a lot on the rush

I really believe it is now a time for us to feel panic. I posted so many times that I would take a win but Wings should wake up.

Poor defenses, bad PK, PP has been freezing for long time

But this is our second problem. Wings just have no effort and motivation. They just think like "we are the champions". That's the last season. It is a new season.

I am watching CBC and Blue Jackets' coach said he is disappointing about the team right. Result? They are dominating the flyers and making a shutout.

Wings really need a big lose soon like 6-0 or 7-0, or even more. They just win a game all by one and learning nothing.

Some people here said we are losing we have no Lids. Avs has no Statsny and Sakic. It just sounds like my friends that they said Canucks lose because of no Luongo.

My favorite part of this game is that Babcock split up Hudler and Cleary. THE ONLY TWO GUYS ON THIS TEAM THAT HAVE BEEN CLICKING. ******* idiotic.

1. Goodbye Allagoch.

2. Red Wings have many bad fans.

3. Tool is one of the greatest bands of all time. They are our generations Pink Floyd.

4. I'm feeling a Wings victory from here. Ozzie will come on and score a hat-trick at least.

In the information age, teams can look at every game the Wings have played this season and come up with a simple plan - Play your best hockey in the 1st period, play physically against the Wings at every turn, embellish anything that might look like a penalty, and trap once you have the lead. That way, when they Wings start to play in the third period, they'll have too big a mountain to climb.

I couldn't have said it better

Sadly, it is up for grabs now. Assuming a loss in regulation tonight for the Wings, a Chicago win in Minny and a clean sweep in the back to backs against the Wings means they take the division, and my fear of the Wings potential postseason choking turns into potential regular season choking. :(

So when can we look forward to you packing up and leaving? :|

Seriously, we get it already, you have zero faith in the team.

Please recommend some then. Fire Babcock? Holland? Trade Lid or Z or Dats or Franzen or Kronner or Stuart? Puh-leaze.

The only changes we can make is on the 3rd line defense, and 4th line offense- or line tweaks, which are already happening. That's not as much a "change" as it is a a "subtle difference".

That should be *** for tat. Losing your best defenseman can easily be assuaged when your opponent has lost their two best forwards, yet the Avs have 3 goals in the first period alone.

If by musicians you mean people with out of tune guitars who have less range than Kurt Cobain wasted with peanut butter in his mouth, then yes, Tool are a thousand times the musicians Def Leppard are. Tool arent even deserving of carrying Def Leppards equipment, but thats neither here nor there. :P;)

Playing better than the Wings is not a simple plan... usually.
