That call was brutal. If he's going to call that shove on Lilja he's got to make the same call at the other end of the ice when a Blackhawks player did the exact same thing after a whistle.

Of course, I'd rather they don't call that at all, but if you're going to set the precedent -- follow through with it.

No kidding. That was just a godawful call. ******* refs need to call things a bit more consistently or slag off.

Can't really blame Conks on the 3rd goal, it looked like Eager was gonna come out the other side.

Even though Lilja didn't seal Eager (probably worried about another call), that goal was ALL Conklin.

You do realise they're playing hockey right? You didn't happen to see Eager make Lilja look like a pylon? Thank God for his wicked pugilistic skills or we might be down 3-1. Oh wait...

Conklin embarassed Lilja. Wrap-around goals shouldn't happen in today's NHL with the goalies being as good as they are. Conklin just looked lost on that play, like he has all year.

Lilja was afraid to touch Eager for fear of the refs calling another penalty.

40 minutes to play.

We can still do this.

-Go to the net.

-Take advantage of the change of nets. (wind)

-Dare the officials to lick a light post.

Triple dog dare. That can't be refused. Just ask Flick.

Okay, it's refs 3, linesmen, 1. The linesmen need to rally early in the 2nd period with more too many men calls, debatable offsides and poorly called icings. The refs are going to be looking to maintain their lead with calls on any sort of physicality, ticky-tacky hooks and phantom trips. It's shaping up to be an exciting game in the 2nd annual Winter Classic Officiating Skills Competition.

ROFL. That's some funny stuff.

Yup the officiating is more than a little off. Eager can rape our players, but if we *LIGHTLY PUSH* someone we get a roughing call.

Which is surprising because I generally consider McCreary the best referee in the league -- but that first 20 minutes were abysmal.

Ha...nice..yea..Reebok is having a Missing Logo Challenge. The Reebok Logo that appears on the neck of every players jersey is apparently missing on one players jersey. Some sort of challenge...prob reebok making a mistake and not wanting to make a new jersey.

I'm pretty sure it's Byfuglien for Chicago but don't quote me. I entered in hopes to win tickets to the Stanley Cup Finals :o) GO WINGS!

Wow, what a puck hog.

(Admittedly, that's often how I try and play videogame hockey too. :P)

In the last part of that play, it was like Yzerman took the D over his knee and spanked them silly. It was a thing of beauty (the goal, not the spanking :P )

Same here, I never have issues with McCreary when he's officiating. But his calls have just been, as I said earlier, worthy of someone like O'Halloran. It's like he's catching the action a second after everyone else, missing what should have been the initial penalty and only seeing borderline retaliation.

Folks I rarely ***** about penalties and have come to accept the new NHL for what it is, but that call on Lilja was the most absurd thing I have seen in years. I want to slap McCreary with a wet noodle after that one give me break!

That's what surprised me too. Billy called a horrible game, we'll see if he lets some more 5on5 play go in the 2nd.

They're the "home" team.

They're playing at Wrigley Field in Chicago, they're at the start of a "dynasty", and they're playing Detroit.

Darren Pang looks like a mini-me next to every Wing he interviews. If I didn't know better, I would think he was standing in a hole.

Danny is right, there have been too many PP opportunities allowed in the first. Put a stop to that, Wings, and shoot into the net with the wind to your advantage, now.

Might have something to do with the game being in Chicago.
